And keep up the good work with content Lathrix, I've been a fan for many years since the *Doombus* was around. Keep it going, man!
I love watching your From The Depths videos. The Cram Cannon only was the first one I saw and I haven't missed a single one since. It's a shame that more people aren't watching the drone video, gonna pop over and watch it again! I feel like a size limited run would be a really interesting playthough. You can only build within a set size but you can build whatever you want within that space, if that description makes sense.
Have you ever tried an orktober campaign? Like neter, glao, ashes, etc. Basically just a campaign played as orky as possible. The only real perameters being orky designs, lots of dakka, get your resources primarily through lootin, play aggressive, Give em a proper waaagh and no lasers or non explosive and thump particle cannons, basically only things that go boom and dakka. I think that'd be cool since its been a bit since weve seen a campaign series and could lead to some fun designs. Waaagh! Ps. Doesn't have to be in october, orktober can be any month if you believe hard enough
I absolutely adore the fact the sub design ended up resembling a WW2 fleet submarine in profile, but with stupid amounts of missiles, torps, and guns for good measure
Real talk, these long format adventure mode movies are my favorite youtube videos on the platform. I regularly check back to see if I have missed a new one. 10/10 Lathrix
I kind of want to see you do a new Drone based campaign but using randomizers to stretch your building and improv skills. Having each drone be unique and gaining 1 new drone slot per difficulty level (20 drones max at difficulty 100) would make it pretty interesting depending on what was rolled as you could get stuck with extremely weak setups or an extremely expensive one. Having separate randomizers for Build Size / Cost, Weapon Type / Configuration, Inspiration based on different real world things, and types of craft / movement would make it really unlikely to have duplicates. The idea of you trying to make a bright pink Frog shaped plane that only uses flamethrower and costing less than 10k is pretty entertaining to me.
i just started playing adventure mode yesterday after seeing that you still play the game. first run ended to a wanda because my ship was pretty much purely wood and it just cut right through like 20 meters. second run though has been going good. ive made it into a frontsider because its a bit easier to armor and used a laser as my first weapon because it doesent miss. hoping i can be as good of a builder as you one day. adventure mode though is great fun and past the first few enemies its become more forgiving to me because i can stack up on resource before hopping between difficulties which gives me a chance to figure everything out again. also as for that nuke craft, that was for sure an interesting welcome to adventure mode, was just having fun, just refitted my craft from wood to alloy, and suddenly a rogue enemy speeds along, dodges the laser, spawns and drops a nuke that luckily failed and flew off in a random direction, then it died and i moved on.
I just realized how long I have been enjoying your content. I have been watching you for almost ten years now. All the way back to when I first saw you playing from the depths back in 2015. I just had major nostalgia looking back at it all and it made me quite happy to see how much you have grown as a content creator
45:39 a neat trick, you can combine the output of several crank motors to power one propeller better. What you do, is have several crank motors next to eachother, then place a wheel. As long as they're within a certain distance from eachother, you can connect the wheels with belts via an option in the wheel settings, which combines the output. So you can have a central crank with the motor, a wheel then the propeller being assisted by several adjacent crank motors which are just a crank and a wheel connecting to the main propeller crank's wheel. Really handy for power-dense propellers where you can't fit a whole steam engine. It's less efficient than a proper directly-driven steam propeller (IIRC it's 40% less efficient), but steam propellers have much higher thrust-per-propeller ratios than the regular propellers, so it can be worth it to power the main drive in smaller craft or for powerful auxilliary propellers on larger craft. You're basically sacrificing efficiency for density - direct-drive steam propellers are much more efficient, but require an entire steam engine to run. Three or so crank motors and wheels fits in a much more compact space, and gives you much more thrust than the regular propellers for each square meter of external space occupied.
lathrix!! always love a new from the depths video! can't wait for you to find the time and patience for another campaign, those are always my favorite and I love watching your silly designs overwhelm the other factions
Hi, I have an idea for a run. No AI, very simple. Everyone seems to rely on the AI a lot, so having to do everything yourself might make the design weaker since you can forget to move or you might overlook something critical in very important situations. This will possibly influence the design a lot since keeping a flyer in the air would be much harder, making for some more unusual choices. (Self-stabilization outside of just making a wide boat would only be allowed with flying craft since stabilizing jets don't require an AI and this would still require manual adjusting of altitude/pitch/yaw with roll at least not being a problem.) Also, From the depths is a series i wish to see continued in the future.
Its okay lathland, missles are cool sexy, long. Beautiful~ and majestic. I too have an addictiok to building them so when you think. "Im sorry!!!" Your really saying. "Your welcome."
I must say that the black and yellow coloring make it looks like it's from Helldivers. And From the Depths is definitely a series I’d like to see continued.

Hey lathland! Just wanted to say I love your FTD videos! I suck at the game and can’t make cool things, but watching you make awesome submarines, space stations, cluster missiles, and one-shot particle cannons is tons of fun! This is a series I’d love to see continued 😎

@@Nobody10115 I did a 'submarines only' Neter campaign and I can tell you that wheels on the bottom became absolutely essential for every sub due to the shallows, the islands, and the fact that the game's AI just absolutely refuses to obey the instruction to stick to deep water in the AI settings.
@@britishknightakaminininja1123 yeah in Neter there are islands and shallows, but in adventure mode it is either insanely deep or there is no terrain, I’m not sure because I’ve never seen the bottom in adventure, I just assumed it didn’t exist after a certain point
12:10 Ah it's good to see that immediately after switching to the imperium from the forces of chaos, Lathrix starts embodying the spirit of the Guard: "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword"
Now that you have had a very cheesy (but tedious) playthrough, may I suggest a No Heavy Armour run? That would force you to build your ships in a very different way than normal.
Hope whatever is going on for you straightens out Lath, you're a wonderful creator and seeing another vid from you pop up in my subscriptions always makes the day better.
3:20 Fun fact! The word tank comes from an Egyptian word for divine shoe. A bizarre shoe. See below: You see, the word 'tank' isn't as simple as it seems. It's actually a complete misunderstanding. Imagine the early explorers stumbling upon ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. They see a strange symbol, something like a shoe, but it's clearly not just any shoe. It's adorned with divine symbols, associated with the god Seth, the bringer of storms and chaos. Those explorers, with their limited understanding of Egyptian mythology, mistook this symbol for a new type of armored vehicle. They heard the Egyptian word for the 'divine footwear,' something like 'tānk' or 'tānkhet,' and assumed it referred to this mysterious new machine. And so, 'tank' was born, a mistranslation rooted in a misunderstanding of ancient Egyptian symbolism. Disclaimer: That was all AI generated bs. 😘
you wanna know the real story behind the name "tank" for an armored siege machine? So britain basically put out a poll to inventors and military minds around british territories for ideas on a weapon to break the stalemate created by machineguns in defensive positions in early WW1. And the results and ideas they got varied quite a lot but almost all of them had a few characteristics in common; It would have heavy armor, be motorized, and have the weight and weaponry to smash through fortifications. so Britain started working on designs for such a machine and presented them to the land based army, who promptly denied funding for the project as the generals and such had no experience with heavy and slow vehicles and preferred to stick with their infantry and horse cavalry charges. So the plans were presented to the navy who had experience with heavy and slow vehicles and saw the usefulness of an armored land vehicle that could fill the role of a military ship, but on land. So the British navy accepted the plans and thus began "The Landship Project" as it was officially called. But the project was absolute top secret and the people managing the project had to figure out a way to justify bulk purchases of steel plates and other metal components on budget ledgers without giving away the nature of the project. The solution they found was to put on the ledgers that the metal material was for "tanks", as in, "water tanks" to secure proper water resources on the front lines, making it look as if britain was digging in for the long haul instead of actively trying to find a way to break the stalemate. And the name "tanks" just stuck, being preferred over "landships"
From the depths is absolutely something I would like to see in the future. Niceties over, always lovely to see these full playthroughs and the new designs each one brings.
so i LOVE your adventure mode playthroughs and I would love to see a bit of a "getting started" tutorial if you will for adventure mode. whenever I play adventure mode, I spend like 20, 30 minutes trying to get a functional craft slapped together as fast as possible, only to get owned by the first enemy that spawns. usually because i don't even have functional weapons. so a video on like...how to build quickly enough to get anything done or how to survive long enough to get a starter build finished would be something right up my alley.
You may even do something like this in this playthrough, but one thing I *thought* about doing in FTD before realising that I never polish off *anything* in FTD, was building a "big-gun uboat" - or "submarine monitor". At the end of ww1, this idea was played around with (like in the M-class) with the idea that such a boat with a 12 inch gun could shoot at shore targets, or pop-up (I think to periscope depth, rather than right to the surface) to blast ships with rounds that could burrow into the ship before exploding. At this time, the effective range of torpedoes was seen to be under 1km, so the idea wasn't as wild as it might sound. You could also have a lot more shells than torpedoes; and they also had torpedoes. In FTD, it'd be cool to see a uboat/sub with a massive fixed doom cram that'd pack for a long time while under the water, then pop up close to one of the biggest, slowest ships, blast the f out of it, then dive to load. One of the big things that puts me off doing this is working out how to get the AI to do this lol. And yes, I know you can shoot guns underwater in FTD, but I thought it'd just be cool to do with cram and have her above the water first.
YEAAAAAAA!!!! I’ve been watching and rewatching all your long form FTD videos for the last month! I got the game because of you and love these videos more than any other on TH-cam. Please keep making them 😭😭😭
Dear Lathland, many appreciations and many good wishes and luck to you in your journeys! I can't believe you are one of few who still dedicate their time to this gem of a game and I can't thank you enough for these videos after all these years watching!
I always love your building style. Even when you use references from other nations the crafts always get this lathrixian look to them. Ive seen you make so many crafts over this decade that there needs to be a Lathrixian legion in the base game. You've really improved since your first seasons of ftd campaigns aesthetically.
Loved this one, been waiting for a Submarine playthrough for a while as that's the only one I've done other than land. (I tried space but this game is rather confusing for new players) Personally I think this is the right amount of building included in the video. Whilst I would probably watch a 5h long video (Over several viewing sessions) I don't know how many others would, especially if it were EVERY video. But yes, keep up the good work, seen every single one of these FTD movies and I love them all! 🥰💯
Always happy to see more from you. As for having more building in the video, I am interested in a lot of the little things including spesifics on internal, how you set up the craft, and just your thought process for building. At the same time I know other people wouldn't find that as interesting. So I say maybe keep the focus off building process for most videos, *BUT* have 1 video with almost all the building process and your reasoning for all of it. I think this would provide lots of useful information for people interested in the game, and would also help people understand what you did even when you don't show it in other videos.
Started watching your videos about 2 weeks ago and recently decided to get the game myself, it was a bit overwhelming at first but now it's very fun. Thank you for introducing me to this game.
Lathlands back🎉🎉 I've missed your vids man. I hope (rather selfishly) your life stops throwing curve balls at you so that you can start doing your regular content again.
Yes so glad we get another long video. I love these. I can get verey anxious and hard insomnia, but these videos can calm me down and make life easier so thank you keep up the amazing work.
I love to see parts of the building process as it helps me to get ideas and improve my own designs, as often enough thought how did you made all of this beautiful magic work.
1:39 this fight made me think of this idea. It would be cool if you tried a airplane bomber run possibly even dropping missiles with extremely high payload with low fuel right over the enemies.
23:01 I think the reason its so satisfying is because it makes sense. If you think of something like a molotov, the "explosion" comes from the glass breaking and gas spreading into the air, but theres very little actual explosive force because its not exploding conventually, its just throwing a ton of flamable liqidized gas vapor, which is very similer to the oxidizer in your missles, they arnt explosive, they're just spreading gas all over to burn.
Brings to mind an old sub I built ages ago; had a sub 100 meter sonar range 'cause I "armored" it in rubber, and equipped it with a pair of 3m torpedoes. Thing was barely larger than the torpedo tubes, did VERY funny things at range.
A neat tip about fire: Flying enemies take more damage from fire. Well, technically, fast enemies take more damage from fire. Fire does more damage per fuel the faster a ship is going, so the fire gets more "Efficient" on faster targets. Flying enemies tend to be fast. Additionally, you don't really need oxidizer against flying targets, since there's basically no risk of them going underwater and putting the fire out. So you can just go super high intensity, and let the fire burn longer to reduce the armor. Oxidizer helps fire weaken armor, but all it does is make it reduce the AC faster. Oxidizer or no, a fire burning on a block eventually reduces it to 1AC, Oxidizer just makes that happen faster. So oxidizer is great for debuff missiles against targets that may be partially underwater, but against flying targets you can just get the extra damage from higher intensity and let the fire burn them.
I always enjoy the building for what it's worth. Also with your fans, if you ever uploaded these designs and asked us I can only imagine they'd get so much love, so much careful decoration and detailing. Thank you so much for these videos.
I love how it looked throughout most of the playthrough. From something resembling an IRL submarine, to a whale-like submersible battleship. The latter designs are definitely campaign-worthy.
What's funny to me is I never understood the idea of a PID controller, I just assumed it was something the creator made up. I now realize, after studying control theory, that it's a real thing that's used in our daily lives. Very cool.
One of the reasons that ships cannot see your sub early on is due to you not having any detection systems of your own. Most AI ships come with a system for detecting AI on other ships, thats their primary means of knowing your location. Granted im 31m into the video so maybe you figured that out later on but if not then here is the answer xD
Something i found a while back, you can use harpoon torpedoes with sonar buoys to detect submarines. You fan them out over an area and if any find one it and smacks it, you get a giant sonar signature. Kind of like sticking a pin it so you can see it clearly.
Some things I hope to see you use as a central design piece someday: Burrowing nuke/boarding missiles Defensive warp drives Thanks for the video, it was a ton of fun
i love these FTD movies. hearing you describe the systems in game and getting them to work so well is mind-boggling. i can't even get through the tutorial😅 FOR THE EMPEROR
A thought for you: Next time you do a sub run or missile run... Use the huge missile as a CLUSTER MISSILE, and design two different medium torpedoes: one maximizes EMP, one maximizes explosive. The huge cluster missile extends the torpedoes' range (allowing bigger warheads), and can deliver multiple torpedoes.

Finally, my dose pf lath addiction has been sated
Lathrix: "We're loyalists! As we always have been!"

i just started playing adventure mode yesterday after seeing that you still play the game. first run ended to a wanda because my ship was pretty much purely wood and it just cut right through like 20 meters. second run though has been going good. ive made it into a frontsider because its a bit easier to armor and used a laser as my first weapon because it doesent miss. hoping i can be as good of a builder as you one day. adventure mode though is great fun and past the first few enemies its become more forgiving to me because i can stack up on resource before hopping between difficulties which gives me a chance to figure everything out again. also as for that nuke craft, that was for sure an interesting welcome to adventure mode, was just having fun, just refitted my craft from wood to alloy, and suddenly a rogue enemy speeds along, dodges the laser, spawns and drops a nuke that luckily failed and flew off in a random direction, then it died and i moved on.
I just realized how long I have been enjoying your content. I have been watching you for almost ten years now. All the way back to when I first saw you playing from the depths back in 2015. I just had major nostalgia looking back at it all and it made me quite happy to see how much you have grown as a content creator
Thanks for the video! Been looking forward for this challenge

im so happy, jsut the other day I was wondmering "when will we see another lathrix video?"
Oh interesting! Thanks for pointing that out!
Lathland I use your video to listen to while I clean out my turtles filter and tank
That is such a specific use and I approve.
lathrix!! always love a new from the depths video! can't wait for you to find the time and patience for another campaign, those are always my favorite and I love watching your silly designs overwhelm the other factions
(Self-stabilization outside of just making a wide boat would only be allowed with flying craft since stabilizing jets don't require an AI and this would still require manual adjusting of altitude/pitch/yaw with roll at least not being a problem.)
Also, From the depths is a series i wish to see continued in the future.
In fairness, he often does this to an extent.
Its okay lathland, missles are cool sexy, long. Beautiful~ and majestic. I too have an addictiok to building them so when you think. "Im sorry!!!" Your really saying. "Your welcome."

Unsubmerging is allowed for portal travel only.
To spice things up use walker legs to walk sideways when fighting on ocean floor.
There isn’t a bottom in adventure, nothing to walk on, it might work as a vehicle in a campaign

Lathrix making a treatise on the hydrodynamics of a shoe:
12:10 Ah it's good to see that immediately after switching to the imperium from the forces of chaos, Lathrix starts embodying the spirit of the Guard: "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword"
Now that you have had a very cheesy (but tedious) playthrough, may I suggest a No Heavy Armour run? That would force you to build your ships in a very different way than normal.

Lathland! I recently got into 40k because of your channel. Thank you so much! And, I'm glad to see another video from you
3:20 Fun fact!
The word tank comes from an Egyptian word for divine shoe. A bizarre shoe. See below:
You see, the word 'tank' isn't as simple as it seems.
I love watching the building you do keep in the videos because it shows more depth of the effort you put in to see how far you can get
It's been years!! Can't wait to see more!!
From the Depths is a series I would like to see continued! I especially like the longer videos!
Hello
From the depths is absolutely something I would like to see in the future.
Niceties over, always lovely to see these full playthroughs and the new designs each one brings.
The fact that you keep finding new concerts to make from the debt videos about is awesome, i truly.
Hope you never run out of ideas
I love seeing things go boom so you stomping enemies into the ground without resistance has its appeal as well. Great video
the fact that you have mixed opinions about how much building you keep in your videos is a great thing. right down the middle. i think its perfect
so i LOVE your adventure mode playthroughs and I would love to see a bit of a "getting started" tutorial if you will for adventure mode. whenever I play adventure mode, I spend like 20, 30 minutes trying to get a functional craft slapped together as fast as possible, only to get owned by the first enemy that spawns. usually because i don't even have functional weapons. so a video on like...how to build quickly enough to get anything done or how to survive long enough to get a starter build finished would be something right up my alley.
Please keep making them 😭😭😭
From the depths is indeed a series we would love to see continued!
There is a Lathrix custom campaign in the works! It doesn't include direct Lathrix builds, but it captures some of that Lathrixianess.
This amout of building was quite nice, explaining your thoughts behind armor layouts or weapon setups is interesting too
Loved this one, been waiting for a Submarine playthrough for a while as that's the only one I've done other than land. (I tried space but this game is rather confusing for new players)
Personally I think this is the right amount of building included in the video.
Thank you for introducing me to this game.

oh my good lord an almost 3 HOUR FtD video from Lathrix? We are truly blessed this day!
I love seeing the build stuff in these, man. It's fun seeing your thought process!
Watching this on a phone and accidentally hit "more" then i saw the _2014_ "From the Depths"
Man, 20 years huh?
20?
I love how it looked throughout most of the playthrough. From something resembling an IRL submarine, to a whale-like submersible battleship. The latter designs are definitely campaign-worthy.
As a newer player I appreciate the building learning how to properly armour and what sacrifices to make are extremely helpful
Some things I hope to see you use as a central design piece someday:
Burrowing nuke/boarding missiles
Defensive warp drives
Thanks for the video, it was a ton of fun
i love these FTD movies. hearing you describe the systems in game and getting them to work so well is mind-boggling. i can't even get through the tutorial😅
FOR THE EMPEROR
A thought for you: Next time you do a sub run or missile run...
Use the huge missile as a CLUSTER MISSILE, and design two different medium torpedoes: one maximizes EMP, one maximizes explosive. The huge cluster missile extends the torpedoes' range (allowing bigger warheads), and can deliver multiple torpedoes.
I love these videos, both From the Depths and Stellaris. I listen to them when I'm going to bed, I must have rewatched the FtD's runs 15 times over by now. Lots of free engagement
Your building skills have so drastically increased and god I love your longer videos every time you upload I know my day is gonna get better
