Bravo to Dad who knows how to properly paint a wall. I go squirrelly watching diyrs painting entire walls with mini rollers, zig-zagging all over the place repeatedly and some using a brush. 😂 Lucky you, for having such supportive parents.
Hey Andrew, I just love that pencil post bed, I hope you’re not getting rid of it 😳 What do you think about building your closet doors out of cabinet grade plywood with picture framed rattan webbing inserts? The plywood would give you more rigidity and support and would also prevent twist and warping on such a tall door. The rattan can be painted out or stained to match your wood furniture. Alternatively you could cut openings in the plywood rather than building a frame stile door and then apply the rattan to the back using trim to frame the opening. Use matching iron on wood edge banding on the edges of the doors for a furniture finished look. As an additional option you can also very easily apply real wood peel and stick veneer and trim to the sides of the closet to give the appearance of a built in armoire. Have you ever gone to the Scott Antiques Market? Its happening this weekend, the next one will be in August. It’s a great place to gather ideas. For cabinet lumber and plywood, check out IMECA in Tucker, GA they also have European cabinet hardware, laminates and inserts, they are very reasonable for the high quality products they offer.😊
Omg you’re amazing! What are your thoughts on wood vs MDF? I’m a little worried about wood warping over time… plus this room is already very heavy on wood tones so I’m thinking a painted and fabric look will be best - plus I have some bolts of fabric that I picked up for $5… so that will be a place I can cut costs. LOVE your rattan idea though. Yes, I’m keeping the bed! Just had to move it out to paint. And no, I haven’t been up to Scott’s yet! I was thinking of going with friends this weekend, but we ended up getting busy. Definitely will check it out next time!
Finally someone who has the least natural light and dark colours in his bedroom. Perfect! You don't need big windows and a lot of natural light in a bedroom. And you definitely don't want to have morning sun there. I want to sleep in peace and darkness to be relaxed. 😉
Haha I agree about the dark colors. However, this room get the most sun in the early morning… which works for me since I hate waking up in a dark space. So it works out perfectly!
The Pax unit hanging out of the back of the car made me laugh. I found a couple of tall bookshelves at the Habitat for Humanity store and I thought they would fit in the back of my SUV. They were hanging out of the back of my truck and my dad secured them with some flimsy rope that they gave us. I had to drive down the highway that way and I was so afraid they were going to end up like roadkill 🤣 Luckily we made it home with them intact but I was sweating bullets the entire way!
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate seeing your ATL/GA house improvements. If you're ever looking for landscaping improvements, you gotta check out the Grower's Outlet in Loganville.
Ooh that sounds amazing! I am planning to restore the outdoor ponds and stone beds that were created by a previous owner who was a landscape architect! So I’ll definitely check that out!
@@REISSUED Definitely start with what you got already, but Growers Outlet is a great place for deals on plants. They'll be reopening for fall season in mid August and have been a great place for us.
Andrew, Bravo, my friend! I like how your patience allows you to save money and create the look you want to achieve. I truly love seeing how your Parents are by your side working on your home. What great memories you all are creating. Have a great weekend. Kindest regards - Don
Hey Don! Yeah patience has been key with this project… but it’s fun to see it all start to come together! Especially with the new projects on the fireplace wall! Can’t wait to show you!
I love your channel so much. The music, the creator/personality, the creativity, the art, the family, the process.. You're not conventional for the sake of convention. You are unique and a Punk, and I love that. ❤
Your authenticity is as captivating as your creativity. I'm obsessed with your talented family. Major props to your parents. I appreciate the IKEA hot tip as well 🤗💖
Now I want to go to Ikea! Love the ceiling color and my thought when I first saw the cabinets was a built in look. Your parents are wonderful and your dog doing zoomies at the end was so cute 😊
The As-Is section is always my first stop. I’ve found so many pleasant surprises there like shelving, cabinets, lighting and even a mattress. All at substantial savings.
Love the paint scheme throughout. We have a dark ceiling in our bedroom as well. Eggplant. It’s like sleeping under the stars. I’m currently planning a new pantry so I think the IKEA as-is section is in my future.
Howdy Andrew!! Fabulous as always!! You're very fortunate to have your parents are so willing to help so much! What ever you plan with be extraordinary & galactically brilliant!! Hug & Tugs from NW Ohio!!!
Ugh I can not wait to see how this room turns out in the end it’s looking amazing so far. I really appreciate while you are keeping it neutral with the colors you also aren’t afraid to make bold design choices like the ceiling!!! Which is glorious by the way ❤. I honestly feel like “building in the wardrobe will elevate it and make it look custom and intentional rather than just placed, if that make sense 🤷🏻♀️. No matter what you decide I’m sure it will turn out amazing just like everything else.
Just wanted to say, I just found your channel yesterday and have been bingeing on it ever since. You're an inspiration! I've just bought a house and need to do some cheap renovations to make it more liveable (kitchen and bathroom update). Your creativity and ability to transform second-hand items have given me some great ideas. Love what you're doing, and look forward to more videos. Thanks! 😊
Hey Gabrielle! I’m so glad you found me! Best of luck with your renovation! If you have the luxury of time, secondhand items are the best way to go for making the space feel special… while keeping the costs low. So I’m so glad you’re getting some ideas! 🙌🏻

Ooh very excited to see how you’re removing the paint on the fireplace in the videos to come. My house is from 1912, and all the upstairs woodwork is covered in several layers of paint.
Haha yeah… I started in this fireplace and now I wanna do them all… which would be great if I didn’t hate stripping paint so much 😂😭 But I think it’s gonna be amazing! Thanks for watching!

Alexandra Gater has done a number of IKEA Pax built-in looks, including for With Wendy, who you've mentioned you watch, so I think you'd have a fantastic couple of video inspirations for your cabinets. I like your paint selections. Maybe upcycle a divider screen for your doors or old screen doors. Probably just as easy or easier for your dad to fashion up some doors. 💖💖🎶🎶
Ooh I like the screen door idea! My big struggle is know what will work with the standard PAX hinges. I need the functionality of those hinges to be sure the doors don’t hit each other when they open… but it definitely limits the materials for the door.

Hey thanks so much for the tip! I love the way the sliding doors look. However, I opted to move away from that look since my cabinet is now 5 sections wide rather than 4.
