    My friend also has a stacking washer and dryer in her guest bath. She used a long Roman shade to cover it. Very easy to access the machines.

    My friend, your natural instincts with design and decor are AMAZING! You are creating an absolute gem of a home!!! What I love about the cream/charcoal colour choice for the bathroom is that it never challenges the colours one presents to it whilst standing in front of the mirror. In other words, it won’t interfere with whatever your skin tone or your wardrobe choice,so it speaks the truth about how you look that day. Your Escher wall paintings are GORGEOUS! YOU ARE AN ARTIST, MY FRIEND!!!

    Oh my goodness! What an amazing find! That vanity is absolutely gorgeous. I love how you've incorporated it. The black tile looks great with the white. It really pulls all the elements of the room together! And the gold fixtures are perfect. I personally feel silver or nickel fixtures would look lost in the room. The visibility of the washer and dryer doesn't look bad to me, but I totally understand the disappointment (?) when things don't come together as desired. I don't think a curtain would look bad at all.
    Gorgeous bathroom. ❤

      Thank you so much Laura! I agree about the silver or nickel looking lost… that much black and white in a room needs some warmth! And yeah I might go for a curtain at some point… on to other spaces first!

    Love all the choices you made. SO beautiful and you added so much function and value to your home.
    If you go for a curtain to hide the washer-drier unit, what if you repurposed a ceiling-mounted hanging rail system (like what's used around claw foot tubs) around the cabinet in a u/l shape? Functionally you'd be fighting the curtains less when you're doing laundry since you could wrap the curtain totally out of the way to the toilet side. Plus it would make it feel like more of a feature and create a little drama with the height. Could be a miss if its too busy looking in the corner but it might be worth exploring!

    Beautiful finished product. Thank you for sharing your process. Suggestion for covering the washer/dryer: a flat (not gathered) curtain that is the same color as the walls, to make the appliances “disappear”. Something that rolled up would be convenient when actually doing laundry. You will need some problem-solving so that hardware/rolled curtain doesn’t interfere with the door. Overall, it is a lovely and unique room as-is. Love your scavenging/DIY methods.

  • @yunahkim4667
    @yunahkim4667 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    gorgeous, you did an incredible job. 1. yes, i agree - all those gold tones work together now- since the space is large enough, you have a lot going on there so the spotlight is not only on the fixture metals - they all appear to be part of a family that gets along!!!!
    2. i had to laugh about wincing at the washing machine in your sightline- i would be the same way. it's really not that bad, i know it's not part of the vibe, but it's totally ok. HOwever, if you really want to do a curtaiin - which might be ok depending on the space for a rod? - totally depends if you can find exactly the right "lurex/ brassy/ dull metallic" fabric. altho i guess you can play it safe w/ white. but still- it's a beauty overall. add a plant! you have light in there so it will thrive.

    • @REISSUED
      @REISSUED  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thank you so much for your comment Yunah! I agree that the gold works with everything else… so I’m glad you agree! And I didn’t even think of a gold curtain! I was thinking of using some textured woven creamy fabric that I have… but it might be too thick. I’ll probably leave it for now and circle back when more of my house is done. Thank you so much for watching!

    • @REISSUED
      @REISSUED  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! A shade might be a good idea! I guess it depends on whether I want it to go up over the upper shelf as well… or just over the washer/dryer. If I did the latter, I’m not sure the shade would be able to raise up high enough to use the unit fully. I’m gonna think on it!

    You really did a super job with the bathroom. Floor tile looks excellent. The exposed washer and dryer look fine. Just like exposing kitchen utensils and kitchen appliances on the wall, floor and or counters, I think the same thing goes for your washer and dryer. I'm a new viewer and fan. Really enjoy your show.

    First off, hello. I just recently found your channel. I am enjoying your journey of transforming your home. Love all your creativity in all the spaces . Who cares about trends. We can be inspired by them and like some, but you and you alone must love your environment. OK , now that’s out of the way, I have a suggestion for your washer and dryer situation . I, myself do not really like curtains to cover anything but windows. That’s just my me. What if you created a long piece of art on a canvas wrapped in a frame the exact size of the unit that stores the W&D. Here are a few ideas on how to attach it:
    - attach magnets along the back of the canvas or frame. Then find some kind metal strip so the magnets will connect and hold in place . Just remove the art work when you need do do your laundry.
    - use Velcro. Apply the same way as above.
    - attach some kind of hooks to the unit or art work.
    All of these ideas can be hidden from site .
    (Amazon has really Heaven duty magnets.
    Use Heavy duty Velcro )

    I don't like it. I love it.
    Extremely well thought out. The greatest is of course the wall paper. Trust me, all the designers say that subway tiles will never go out of style. The other tiles are classic to that house. Those tiles are installed perfectly. The transom and the doors were genius. Well, everything is perfect.
    Andrew, I like the idea of a thin cotton curtain, like a sheet, or almost a gauze and could be see-thru. It would have to be the right pattern, and be pretty simple. Maybe a stripe with some curves, a small print, non-descript, nothing to distract, but then solid would be too plain. You will find it when you least expect it. Maybe a café type with 2 rods? I guess a door that slides to the toilet won't work either. A dutch door on top, with a curtain on the bottom? A door that opens from the bottom, folds in half then rests on the top of the cabinet having the top hinge on a type of drawer slide?
    Since the faucet is so close to the sconces, and they ARE trendy, how would it look with that fake brass is painted a matte black or the color of the rug? Or maybe an oval mirror would be better, the top of that mirror doesn't line up with anything, like tile black band. Maybe a better transition from all the squares to the organic wall pattern? You do know about getting different color led bulbs and also putting those on a dimmer, right? Maybe a 3700K color light?
    BTW. Vinegar just shines copper and brass, ammonia will patina it, use a weak solution, it will go to verte gris fast. You have to get the lacquer off of it first.
    You did an amazing job here, so don't let my ideas throw you off of the praise.
    😍

    So many things to love about this! The painted wallpaper is incredible, I wish I had your talent. The vanity, just stunning. And I really love how the black and white tiles play off each other to make things interesting.
    Things I would change, update those sconces to something more vintage looking, they are coming off too modern. I love the look of grandmas rug, but that seems so unhygienic, try a machine washable one instead. And yes, it’s worth covering your washer/ dryer. I love the other commenters suggestions of Roman or bamboo shades, or a light panel. I think you could put a panel on a door hinge no? I would also like to see some artwork and fresh flowers.
    Overall, a very beautiful room. You should be proud.

    I love the bathroom.
    I have had the same tile in my renovated bathroom. And you cannot go wrong with subway tile. The only thing I feel is not practical is the rug. I find if I have a bath rug, I choose one that is easy to wash. I usually have 2 or 3 interchangeable because I wash them often. Love the door. I have always like frosted glass and doors with glass like that.

    I think for the dryer, you should add a kind of vintage-look framed chalkboard, like a work-place tally board or lead board, to cover the dryer only, while leaving the washer exposed. It would have a hinge on one side to allow access, but visually, that would work with the 30's style "WC" door. Call it 20's boiler room, or speakeasy style. Functionally, you could use it as a shopping list, weekly inspiration, schedules, reminders, artwork or whatever.

    • @johnpinion8033
      @johnpinion8033 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see now it's actually IN the bathroom, and a door of any kind might not actually work. Maybe as an alternative to fabric, a woven grass mat, that could roll up or a dowel-and-fabric roll-up screen, or one of those roll-up grass beach mats, that could hide the equipment. Maybe a large-scale fabric art piece that would definitely be the centerpiece of the room in bold colors as a counterpoint to the black and white, or a sedate tapestry for a more vintage feel.

    That Escher bird wallpaper is stunning in the space, really elevates the look. As for the washer/dryer here in Europe is usual to have them in bathrooms, they don't bother me at all, the white makes them blend in. It looks clean, a feel a curtain would take away from that clean feel.

    • @markrice4808
      @markrice4808 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right! When I saw the washer and dryer, I immediately thought of Europe. They have spaces much older than America's, and you see bathrooms, laundries, and even whole kitchens under stairs which is nobody's first choice. Some items must simply go where they will best fit (which is probably why their appliances tend to be somewhat smaller). There is kind of a Conran's feel to it which is so neat and sensible.

    Everything came together so nicely. I love how you repurposed so many things. I don’t think the different tones of gold are that noticeable. Although I’m not a big fan of the sconces for the space; I think they’re just a little too modern-glam (as opposed to MCM which I think is more your vibe). Hopefully you can source some vintage sconces one day and swap them out. Overall everything looks beautiful though! ❤

    Fantastic job! The floor mosaic makes the subwaytile w black trim really look classic and high end, and the Escher wallpaper design is the most brilliant thing I've seen in a while! I really like that you let the vanity have it's warm wood finish to complememt and didn't go with a matchy matchy vanity.
    That skylight makes the space so special, but I do understand being bugged by the exppsed washer/dryer since you went to thr trouble of giving it a solid wood cabinet, so if I were you, I'd either mount a roll up blind in rattan (diy?), cane/bamboo and eithet match the finish to the vanity or a grayscale in the wallpaper (super practical when doimg laundry just out of the way entirely) OR put curtain/fabric panel on a rod in which case you could paint the fabric design yourself or look for a vintage black/white fabric.
    A couple of yards will go. A long way. In a situation w no budget I'd go for a Fornasetti design that would look amazing with the rest of the interior, but that's very pricey yardage and I feel you could print or paint a fabric panel at least as cool. 😉

    Much better gold/brass/aged tones.
    Mine from 1905 work and the skeleton keys are often easy to find new.

    Regarding the washer-dryer-szenario:
    What about a bamboo blind of some sort?
    (But only since I don't entirely get, why folding doors wouldn't work, as you say..)
    Of a curtain I'm not really convinced, at that point. But I'm quite sure you would even be able to carry that off too!

    what about a bamboo runner that you could roll up and fasten with leather straps? it would be plain enough not to distract, but the texture adds another element. If you wanted a design, it would be really easy to paint on...a couple of the Escher birds maybe? Hope this helps ;) Lovely job on the room and some great ideas.

    I think you could do a fabric curtain, but it doesn’t have to be gathered or “frilly”, could be a nice piece of heavy natural cotton canvas with maybe a small black motif stenciled on , you would have to figure out how to roll it up, a dowel at the bottom ? Coming from a textile designer with fabric in her veins😂

    I love the Escher-type wall painting you did! All together the bathroom came out great. I was thinking it would be good to cover up the washer an dryer unit with a pull down shade and when you need to do laundry you just pull it up out of the way. Maybe you could paint that too. I was also thinking you should cut the cabinet and turn it into a French door so you can access the washer and dryer behind. It's important to have maintenance access for longevity and safety.

    Great job!! If you want to try a curtain over the washer/dryer, I think a black and white ticking fabric would work well with your aesthetic. 😊

    i say commit to shower curtain or glass...both have their positives and negatives...with that being siad i would put a curtain in front of the washer/dryer to keep the calming shower vibe...that you could close when not using

    Have you considered a pocket door for the laundry cabinet. Like an old tvcabinet pocket door - they store hidden to side and then pullout and over. Tv cabinets are often free, no one needs them - Get the expensive pocket hardware off it. The dimensions might not work?

    What about a roller shade? Or, bump out the face frame of the cabinet just a bit, use magnets/metal catch plates to attach something lightweight in a frame that makes you happier to look at, like a piece of art.

    Beautiful bathroom, to cover the laundry area, I might use a roller blind and do some art work on it. Good job. You are very creative.

    what about a roller blind in front of the W/D? Hear me out. it doesnt have to be one of those cheap and nasty vinyl ones, but it would give you the look of a solid surface, and useability. A curtain would be nice, but if you didnt want one for the shower because of aesthetics then you probably aren't going to be happy with one over there either.

    Love all the elements of your bathroom, it turned out stunning. Would a sleek white push open door (no handle) work over the washing space, or a hanging barn door sliding in front of the toilet area when open. You are truly talented.

    Yep some sort of curtain - perhaps you could get some light weight white cotton and stencil some of your birds on it Or a fine black and white vertical stripe to pick up the stripes in the birds without needing the birds themselves- perhaps on an over stated brass rail to give a bit of definition at the top
    Got to admit I’m not in love with the rug - it detracts too much from the beautiful details else where and whilst ‘shabby’ is in that’s ok on a normal floor but the crisp mosaic just makes it look shabby without the chic

    For washer/dryer, consider a Roman shade or maybe wrap the appliances with a car wrap type sticker to make it an art piece?

    Yes! The different shades of gold are frustrating. I even had a sink drain that changed shades within a month of installing it.

    Maybe try a roll down door like the type you get on a garage or a bread in, you might have to remove the shelf but that might enclose your laundry

    I'm always so baffles at American's perspective on shower curtains.. In Australia you NEVER see them. They're the worst. The only time I've ever used them is in cheap hotels or really old bathrooms, it would be ludicrous to even weigh up a shower curtain vs. glass door in a new bathroom. I wonder why they've stuck around in the states?

    • @ellyr6234

      But on another note, I think a sweet vintage fabric curtain could be cute across the laundry, might as well try it and see if you prefer it? :)

    I hope you did not put a curtain over your washer/dryer. The #1 purpose of a bathroom is function. Keeping things clean and clear of fussiness is your best bet. IMO, a curtain would be in the way and detract from what looks like a great bathroom.

    peel and sick for the fronts of appliances?

  • @kristinbrown5683
    @kristinbrown5683 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would cover the washer and dryer if possible. I have two ideas. One….If you did a curtain you could put a tension rod at the bottom, which would keep the curtain more streamlined and alleviate the billowing at the bottom. If there is nowhere for the tension rod to attach at the bottom, you might have to put little blocks to hold the rod. My second idea…is something I’m not sure exists. So…you know how a window shade has a roller at the top? Is there a such thing as a roller door? I feel like there could be. If it had tracks on bottom and top, then rolls to the side to open. If it doesn’t exist….we have a gold mine. Pocket doors are terrible to put in and like this situation wouldn’t work. Barn doors are a great solution to the yucky pocket door, but are overdone and in this situation wouldn’t work. Okay. I just came up with a third idea. Accordion doors from the 60’s and 70’s. I’m pretty sure you could come up with an updated and modern version. My work here is done. 😂

      @REISSUED  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha this is amazing! We tried a thrifted accordion door… and it looked terrible 😂 The rolling door is a thing… and was definitely an option that we considered! Probably the best solution I’ve heard 🙌🏻

      This may be too late but have you thought about a “tambour” slatted door in front of the washer drier?- like the front of those 1920s/30,s roll top desks or fronts of filing drawers and collectors cabinets?- I think this style would totally match the vintage vibe of the rest of your eclectic decor.They are constructed I believe from strips of wood fixed to cloth which slides up +down in side runners and rolls up at the back of the top - you could stain wood slats dark to match vintage door. Just an idea 👍Enjoying your channel ❤️

    I know the space around the washer/dryer cabinet is tight, but did you look into armoire pocket style doors that open and then slide into the sides of the cabinet? They retract completely
    As far as a curtain… get a cheap tension rod and a curtain and try it. I’d go with white so it “disappears” from view. If you like it, you can purchase better hardware to mount it
