    One other thing I have to say I've noticed and appreciated about you Cody is that you don't hide the fact that many of the things you own are high end or expensive. The great thing about that is that you know that it's important to be a good steward of your money and time. I really enjoy the channel all the time thank you.

    My father had a Yanmar in his sailboat. Marvelous engine. Two years ago I was looking at the local Yanmar dealer who was just getting established when I decided to get a tractor. At that time all he had were tractors in the 20 hp size which was smaller than I was looking for. He didn't have a large selection or knowledge base about his product so instead of buying a new smaller tractor I elected to go with a larger used tractor. I settled on the Kioti DK 45 which has been a great tractor. I have been adding my implements as the need arises. It's pretty hard to homestead without equipment. We live on the east coast of Canada in the province of New Brunswick right on the Bay of Fundy. Lots of snow here too but our trees are smaller :-). I hope you enjoy your tractor and you will be amazed with what you can do with one. Lots to learn too but that's part of the fun.

      some actually are backwards from the norm... i.e Bahco
      you push the thumb wheel up and yhe jaws move left flip it same thing
      a normal adjustable; when you push the thumb wheel up the jaws open right flip it over same thing

    1st time in a long time that I actually read other comments prior to my making mine. 1st a crescent wrench is just a crescent wrench. I enjoy how Cody comments on it being metric or standard, but in truth it doesn't matter, it's adjustable for any size needed within the scope of the size of the wrench. As for the tractor, I will never have a use for a tractor, but I am extremely impressed with the functionality of this one. Can't wait to see how it is still operating towards the end of the 2 year test/evaluation period. My uncle taught me how to drive his 1941 John Deer back in the late 50's early 60's plowing his corn fields. I completely enjoyed that tractor. When it finally died, he replaced it (after a ton of research) with a Kobuta because that was the best tractor available for the money at the time. I feel from viewing Cody's videos so far, this Yanmar is a vast improvement on the Kobuta and will be a great work horse for this small homestead of his. I also need to comment on the great degree of integrity Cody constantly displays. I truly believe he is going to provide an honest, tough evaluation of everything he has been provided to test. Have a great day and stay warm.

    You just answered a question that I asked on one of your other videos as to how you acquired such a magnificent machine. You certainly have been blessed. I hope that Yanmar gave you a sweet deal for buying it at the end of your 2 year test period. I'm sure that you would want to keep it. It's just the right size for the homestead, not too small like most other makers', and not to large. It's beefy and the perfect size. Yanmar chose the right person to display their product with. Watching it work around your homestead has me sold. When I have $50,00 dropped in my lap, the first thing I will do is run out and buy one myself.

    • @KubotaL4060
      @KubotaL4060 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Short explains it well in one of his videos. I got the impression the last straw in negotiations was that his wife was not permitted in the (required short) videos. She apparently does a ton of work to produce their stuff. Anyway... Keep up the great work, as most want to see regular folks using machinery (and whatever else!) to get work done, and solve problems.

    • @brians48now
      @brians48now 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul had also said in an earlier video that he had seen some of the videos they had made about their Kubota tractors playing in the Kubota dealership. Now, that would be fine if they would have asked permission first and acknowledged where the videos came from. They didn't do that. Using someone's content without their permission is just simply wrong.
      The whole way Kubota went about it when trying to get Paul and Cathy to make promotion videos for them was very underhanded and with the amount of views his channel gets, it's sure to have cost them some business as well.

      mika vink He darn sure picked up some monsters on the other video with it, Probably about the max the tractor could lift and the other grapple didn't seem to have a problem. I'm sure they are just sending all implements possible for him to showcase.

    • @farmerboybill
      @farmerboybill 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The frost bite isn't going to pick up any dirt or snow because it doesn't have a bottom. It's just for grabbing logs and piles of long brush. His other grapple is kind of a rock bucket where he can pick rocks or smaller brush with it. The other one is more useful in general, but this one definitely has a use for keeping the logs relatively clean when cutting firewood and milling lumber.

      If you listened to him you would know that this is not the same as an advertisement. In an advertisement or infomercial, it's scripted, and it only delivers positive comments about the product, and the only purpose is for sales.
      Yes, Yanmar is getting advertising, but Cody has already made a few negative comments about small things. If there is a major problem, I'm sure we'll hear about that, too.
      In other videos, Cody has stated that he gets large-sum offers to promote products (knives, etc.) but that he turns them down, because he is expected to basically "do a commercial", not honestly review the product.
      Lighten up, please.

      Arkansas Pilgrim If you like him so much, then why dont ya have him in your own backyard, Instead of him falsely peddling this way of life in a DIY manner to a bunch of folks that never had to live it unless by choice! Now I got a bunch of dingbats flocking to the northwest all looking for a slice of ther own land, and I end up with a bunch of new neighbors that want to change or look down upon the way my family has lived since homesteading this land for real. I guess thats what we git for pioneering this country, tameing the indians, killin the grizzly off, eradicating the wolves, and putting the fear of man in moutian lions, to make it so guys like this yutz can move in and invite his freinds.
      god damm, I hate new people! this was a great place till outsiders moved in

    sweet deal you got for sure. But lets be honest. They gave you the use of the tractor because your channel is very popular especially with viewers who use products like these. wish you would just come out and say yes I am advertising this tractor. Yanmar or any other business just doesnt go around looking for nice guys to give tractors to. I kind of feel like your not being honest to us. You have done a lot of hard work to make yourself successful so I think its fine that you get the perks. You have done this with a lot of products and I would to thats for sure. Just please keep making those good ole Wranglerstar DIY videos that everyone likes and a little bit less product air time. Gets old when you sit and talk about a bag or knife or tractor for 20 minutes. Also that Metallica song that you had in the start of yesterdays video was bad ass.

    We had the same problem with one of our tractors on the farm with the light rear end when the loader was full. We took a 55gal drum and an old 3 point hitch off a old plow filled it with rocks and cement. This option was cheaper than buying the rear weights.

    I'm not sure how much thought you put into the music selection for your videos, but they are tailor made for your channel's philosophy. Taking more mainstream, contemporary, modern rock and roll (for example) and using more traditional instruments, acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, etc., fits the persona of modern homesteading to a tee! Keep up the great work as all ways.

    It has been mentioned before I got here about "Ballast in the tires". Bearing in mind that I live in Florida. My father always filled our rear tractor tires with water and antifreeze. You get a double advantage. Traction and ballast. I know its cold, but the right mixture would not freeze. Just an option from a farm boy/ old man now :)

    Cody, IMHO no need to offer a full disclosure on every product comes your way. You have grown your mission/business for success with over 500K subscribers. I think all your worldwide subscribers have no worries with your integrity. Those that worry or have concerns on how you acquired a product to show us is simple jealousy on their part.The success of the channel speaks for itself.

    Yanmar has a long history with tractors in the US. I own a Yanmar YM3110 that that was built for the Japanese Domestic market, but was also painted green and yellow and sold by John Deere in the US as a JD950 in the early '80s. I bought mine refurbished and it is a great tractor. Tough as nails and absolutely reliable. Yanmar is still owned by the same family who started the business and I believe they were one of the first to mass produce small in-line diesels.

    If it ends up being an outdoor shooting experience I recommend the small individual packets of the handwarmers and place them in your pockets. They work wonders for just a few minutes to warm up the fingers before you go back to shooting again.

    Great shot at 3:28 of the tractor riding into the frame. Love the contrast of the red against the white snow.
    I believe Yanmar is getting a good deal:
    Prior to them letting you use their tractor - I had never even heard of them. And I'm from the country and had two grandfathers that were farmers.

    Pro tip for ballast. Fill a large plastic bin with concrete. Stick two bolts upside down in the concrete before it sets so you can attach a drawbar to the bolts and then to the 3 pt. It's cheap and heavy.
