Installing my black powder coated PRL Intercooler for my | 10th Gen Honda Civic SI!

- In todays video I will be installing my PRL intercooler onto my 10th Gen Honda Civic SI and BOY was this installation long for us. I am still fairly new to installing my own parts as I recently just bought my own Jack and tools lol! If you're a newbie like me though feel free to watch me struggle and hopefully learn a thing or two from my experiences! All in all the intercooler is a GREAT top 3 mods you should do to your car to combat heat soak if you like to race your car, track it, or do multiple pulls with it back to back. Intake air temperature 1 and 2 is about 5-10 degrees with ambiet temps which is GREAT for the car pulling in much cooler air for more POWER! 10/10 would definitely recommend this mod to anyone!

love the videos dude. The intercooler was the 3rd mod i put on after the exhaust and intake. I wanna say i noticed a difference when doing pulls but i could be placebo haha. Keep up the work man!
Ayeee thanks fam!! I definitely noticed a difference with the intercooler too especially the fact you can do multiple pulls without your knock control rising and intercooler getting heat soak, the car just feels overall stronger 🙏🏽 but thank you fam! I sure will!

i know this is old but what i did to keep knock count down is add half or a gallon of e85 to 91 or 93 whatever you have in your state. i do it and it stays .49 all the time WOT racing all night it stays, and i have stock intake and intercooler, just dp and front pipe back exhaust

Would you say adding the intercooler added any horsepower or just stopped heaksoak?
I’d say it mostly reduces heat soak and gives you more consistent power, maybe if you get a tune from a professional they’ll be able to squeeze alittle more power from the car with the intercooler since the temps won’t be too high all the time
I just bought the black powdercoated PRL IC but did not buy the PRL pipes for it.. Im goin to install it witht he factory pipes.. you think it would be a huge difference?
You should be good with the stock intercooler pipe, once you go bigger turbo then I would suggest getting a bigger intercooler piping but you should be good, it won’t make that much of a difference with what you have now 👍🏽

Just installed mine a few weeks ago. Does anyone else get a clang sound over a big bump? Not sure if mine is hitting my bumper support.
Hmm the only thing I could think of is the oem rubber you have to switch over and put on the new intercooler, also check the piping and see if it’s nice and snug and won’t bang into anything if you move it around

Hey bro, do you think it's work the price. I just daily my 11gen civc ex in the city.
I don’t know if the 11th gen’s have heatsoak problems like the 10th gen’s but I’d say an intercooler is probably one of the best mods for consistent power, probably most overlooked because it doesn’t add that much power but is a really good addition to your car down the road anyways. If you drive in the city a lot I don’t think it’ll be as helpful as the intercooler will need a lot of forced cooler air like on the highway but it’ll still be better than the small stock oem intercooler for sure. You’ll have cooler temps longer than the oem and heat soak won’t be as apparent and will help you push more power consistent than the stock oem intercooler. 👍🏽
Did you drill out the fake vent for more airflow to the PRL intake? If so how has it been in rain/snow?
Yesssir I did! It’s been perfectly fine in the rain and snow, I also don’t have a filter on it either and it’s gone through Massachusetts winter with no problem, I daily my car and have not had a single issue with it yet 👍🏽
@@timothysarin great to know! My car is also my daily and I’m in Chicago so I was concerned about rain/snow and stuff. I’ll likely drill out the vents in the future
Let me know how the process goes! It took a while drilling out the holes and then cutting them, so when you start tackling that project, take your time on it, the vent holes were surprisingly thicker that what I thought it would be

do you need charged pipes ?
You don’t really need the charge pipes unless you go bigger turbo, stock charge pipes will do fine with the stock turbo 👍🏽

Hi, Do you have a picture of it with your black car? trying to decide if i get the aluminium or the black powder coated intercooler
Yes I have a couple of pictures with it, you could barely tell I have an intercooler upgrade with the black powder coated one. If your going with a sleeper ish look the black one is the go to, but if you want the aluminum to show it off that’s cool too, the only reason why I got the black one was Bc I deal with winter with a lot of snow and salt so I’m hoping the black one helps keep the intercooler looking nice and new longer 👍🏽
