The guitarist is Jimmy Page, one of the greatest of all time. Lead singer is Robert Plant, John Paul Jones bass and keyboards and John Bonham drums. LZ is the greatest rock & roll band of all time hands down. This video was done at Madison Square Garden in 1973.
Incorrect david ...the band IS : Jeffry paige (led giutar ) Robot Planet (led voclas ) Pope jon paul Jones (led bass ) and John Bonjoviham (led drums ) and recorded in thr back garden in 1958
It's funny you did Led Zeppelin and Heart on the same night, because you should check out Heart covering Stairway to Heaven just a few years back when Led Zeppelin were being honored at the Kennedy Center, the surviving members were there, and so were the Obamas, and John Bonham, the late drummer, his son Jason is drumming. It's an amazing performance.
The guitar that Jimmy Page is playing there is called a Gibson EDS-1275 double neck. 12 strings on the top neck, 6 strings on the bottom neck. It's an iconic guitar.
If you like the band Heart with Ann and Nancy Wilson you really should check out their cover of this song. They were asked to do it for a Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zeppelin, and they performed it in front of Led Zeppelin themselves, President Obama, and a ton of celebrities who are in the audience. Ann's voice is maganificent and the video of it went viral right after it aired in 2015 or sometime around then. Led Zeppelin actually gave Heart their blessing to cover anything in their catalog after that performance, and they actually gave the Wilsons a standing ovation. It's one of the only Led Zeppelin covers that diehard Zeppelin fans (myself included) have blessed. Normally we feel like the Zep catalog is untouchable, but over the years Heart has earned the street cred to sing whatever they want. Anyway, give it a check if you ike Heart.
The double guitar, in basic terms, is a 6 string and a 12 string. A 12 string gives a nice choral sound because you're playing 2 strings at once. Jimmy Page started using the double neck for Stairwy To Heaven because it was practical. The guitar wasn't used on the song, it was purchased after the fact to help recreate the song live.
Me and my mates always waited for the "drop". Then rush home, fire up, crank it up and LZ would do the rest. Right to your heart/soul. Tightest band ever, like they all play solos and it meshes perfectly. OMG, what a time to be a teen. 50 years later and STILL fresh.
Guitarist Jimmy Page formed Led Zeppelin and produced all their albums. One of Jimmy's quotes is "I can communicate far better on a guitar than I can through my mouth." If you want a Zeppelin performance that is all about the guitar, you absolutely must react to Dazed and Confused performed at Madison Square Garden. It is 28 minutes long and is more like an entire concert in one song.
The Royal Albert Hall version from 1970 is awesome too-and Robert Plant’s voice sounds great in that version. He’d sustained vocal chord damage and really lost a substantial amount of his range and power by ‘73. Plant was an absolute beast vocally up through 1971 though…
Oh the days of transcendent guitar solos. That was Jimmy Page, considered one of the most influential rock guitarists. So glad you enjoyed this! I hope it's in preparation for Heart's cover at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. Here's the full version in case you need the link: th-cam.com/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/w-d-xo.html
The lead singer is Robert Plant, lead guitarist is Jimmy Page, Bassist/Keyboards is John Paul Jones and percussionist is the late John Bonham. This video clip is from their concert in Madison Square Garden
I loved your reaction because that was me 45 yrs ago. The guitarist Jimmy Page is so bad ass on the guitar that he needed two at a time, lol!! The guitarist is my #1 and has been for 45 + yrs. He is Maestro and no one has ever matched his all around genius and creativity. Just remember to tell your kids some day " When Giants Walked The Earth".
This is my favorite band of all time. Music, lyrics, personalities and musicianship. They had it all and r and always will be the greatest rock band ever. The likes of them will never walk the earth again.
Led Zeppelin has shown, once more, why they are the greatest rock band to walk the earth. Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones on keyboards, Jon Bonham on drums and Robert Plant on vocals. Page formed Led Zeppelin, Jones arranged much of their music which Page also produced.
Jimmy is playing the Gibson EDS 1275. In the studio version of the song he used a 12 string acoustic, a 6 string acoustic, and a 6 string electric...all overdubs in the studio. For live performances the double neck 1275 was needed to avoid having to switch guitars on stage.
Yes the Zeppelin rabbit hole is deep indeed. My favorite of theirs is off their magnus opus, physical graffiti, Ten Years Gone. Other great songs off of that are the Rover, In My time of Dying, In the Light and Night Flight.
This is why they are the GOATS! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 It’s a Double neck..6 string on the bottom, 12 string on top. If you noticed he plays them at different times! The next one you have to watch from this concert...since I’ve been loving you. The whole concert from the Garden was epic.
The guitar is an EDS-1275 Gibson Doubleneck 6/12 string. If you liked the song, you should check out Heart's amazing cover version, from the Kennedy Centre tribute to Led Zeppelin. It's the most extraordinary, and best, cover I've ever heard. If you're watching it, and you notice that the choir at the end are all wearing bowler hats, it's because John Bonham, the original Led Zeppelin drummer, who died in 1980, used to wear one on stage. And the drummer in the tribute band is Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son, who does an incredible job.
It's always good to watch somebody reacting to Led Zeppelin for the first time. Here are a couple more songs that I think you would like to react to from Led Zeppelin. "The Song Remains the Same/The Rain Song". "Since I've been Loving You" both from 1973 live at Madison Square Garden. Then "In my Time of Dying" 1975 live at Earls Court. There are no bad Led Zeppelin songs only timeless masterpieces.
The greatest song of all time. That’s all. I’m just enjoying watching a beautiful woman listening to a beautiful song. 😘 Lol Robert Plant isn’t dead 12:09 Plant will live forever.
The guitarist is Jimmy Page, one of the all time legendary rock guitarists. Man, when I was 16 back in '78, I had a life sized poster of him and Jimi Hendrix on my walls. Good memories!
Hey Angela! Love the guitar too- I can’t keep my eyes off Robert Plant (lead singer) here-😍. Please react to their song “Since I’ve been loving you” next- from this same live concert- 💝✨👍
Jim’s guitar here was made by the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Mi. It’s simply named the Gibson EDS-1275 Double Neck Guitar. Top neck is 12 string while the bottom one is standard 6 string. It allowed Jimmy to take Stairway to the stage. Another highly famed guitarist used one before Jimmy is John McGlaughlin. John Paul Jones is playing Mellotron keyboard (an 8 second tape loop device) here…and switches over halfway to the Fender Rhodes Synthesized Piano. It gives the song a dreamy feeling and John is just wonderful on it! What you’re watching here my dear…is the finest Rock band the world will ever know. Zeppelin brought forth the world heavyweight champion of Rock drums too. John Bonham.
Led Zeppelin was honored at the Kennedy Center with members of LZ sitting in balcony next to President and Mrs. Obama. Heart sang this song in one of the most memorable events in rock music.
Very many folks say this is the BEST rock song ever. All I know is I like it. Have for decades. All four of these men are ROCK GODS..... So good at their part. Rolling Stone magazine rates Jimmy Page as the 2nd best rock guitarist. Just behind Eric Clapton. Did you enjoy the video? You can not go wrong with Zeppelin.
The lead singer is Robert Plant, and he is still singing and actively touring today, at age 73. Presently touring with Allison Krause (another phenomenal singing voice) supporting their 2'nd duet album Raising the Roof. The guitarist is Jimmie Page. He has had some interesting opinions regarding this song throughout the years. Interesting story about Stairway to Heaven, Jimmie Page first worked out the guitar part of this song and played it for the band to get their opinion. Robert Plant immediately took a pen and paper and went to sit on the floor in the corner of the room and penned the lyrics in about 20 minutes.
Clime into this rabbit hole of Zeppelin and you'll never want to come out of it! Love seeing younger people view the music I grew up with. Nothing has or will surpass the music of the 70's. There are so many bands and artists that inspired the gift of love in that era that today's music can't generate. Explore this era and you will be rewarded with happiness for at least a short time.
Oh dear, you have opened the trapdoor to the world of Led Zep, dive right in and see how deep the rabbit hole goes!! 100s of top tracks, live shows and mind blowing performances to enjoy. Change your life!
Welcome to the Led Zeppelin rabbit hole, arguably the best rock ‘n’ roll band ever, you should dig in to the oldest album and work forward, they’re incredible!
Check out Dazed and Confused live in Madison Square Garden 1973. The 28 minute version. Is has all the light and shade, whisper to the thunder that the band is best known for.
Led Zeppelin was: Jimmy Page on guitars Robert Plant on vocals (and harmonica, when used) John Paul Jones on bass and keys The late, great John Bonham on drums Great reaction to a timeless classic, Angela!
Great reaction! Another great song from Led Zeppelin is "Since I've Been Loving You" live at MSG, from the same show. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Keep up the great work!
Jimmy Page has been known as one of the top guitarists of all time. No one writes and plays like him. And the band has ten album full of some of the best music you can ever listen to. The #1 rock band of all time.
The guitar player is Jimmy Page. Between him, Hendrix, and Clapton, they were the biggest guitar influences of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. He’s playing a double neck Gibson SG. one neck has 12 strings the other has 6 strings. This song is just one HUGE crescendo for 8 minutes.

Given that we are now in the 21st century eventually these songs and artists will be long forgotten as the older people pass away. None of us listen to music from the 1800’s. The same will happen to music from the 20th century. But they were great stuff. Still today this is the main source of my music listening. I appreciate younger people discovering these music treasures. Enjoy and try to keep them relevant among your peers as long as possible.
Thanks for the reaction, Ang!! You are not wrong about Jimmy Page and his double neck guitar! And speaking of Thank You, that is the title of one of the all time great love songs! "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin - add it to your list!
Jimmy page was the band leader, played guitar and wrote every song,, the Beatles are the goat of bands but lz is the goat of rock n roll. And Jimmy is the goat of guitar
Greatest band in history! Jimmy Page...greatest guitarist on earth! Girl...you gotta do The Song Remains The same/The Rain Song from this concert 1973 at MSG!! It is magnificent!!
The guitar is called a double-neck ... It has 12 strings on top and 6 strings on the bottom neck. Jimmy Page needs both for the richness of the quiet parts, the the 6 st for the heavier/lead parts Signer: Robert Plant
I remember I saw them perform this in New Jersey on a Friday night and they said have you heard this weekend there's a huge party in Woodstock NY.. we all went up there but the Zep never made it, not sure what happened to them that Saturday, but I know the roads by then were too crowded; we walked the last two miles.. but they were supposed to play there.
Saw them live. Jimmy went crazy for about 5 minutes on his solo, after he finished, he said, I hope you don't mind it doesn't sound like the studio version, but I'm making it up as I go. WTF, it was better.
This is a great song. Memories of my lost brother. (Happy thoughts). He wrote songs and preformed at children's hospitals and non profit' origination. Mystical song! He lives thru me, no sadness but music is on my heart. Just to say, I'm older and was always told to stop Singing bec I even sang while eating, lol. I did karaoke years later and they were glad to say they were related. My opinion is never give up singing no mater what. Music makes each individual happy no matter what style or ethnic group. .
@stevehouser8066 I seen Robert in 83 and 84... I also seen Led Zeppelin in 1979, I can honestly day I've never been to a better convert than in 79 and of course Robert was phenomenal in 83 and 84!!!
Lead Singer: Robert Plant, Guitar: Jimmy Page, Keyboard: John Paul Jones, Drums: John Bonham. This song came out in 1971 when I was in high school. I saw them in concert back in 1973 (while still in high school) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Watching this, it may have been this one! 😮 They were one of the hottest rock groups from the late 1960s through the 1970s. After the concert, I lost the coin toss and had to drive us all back to Jersey! LOL!
Check out the studio cut sometime. It's a bit more focused but I would agree that this live performance is phenomenal. My only regret is they go to the weird 70s creative primitive video effects rather than just show the whole band rocking out at that point. Because that's exactly what they did. They rocked this so hard.
The guitarist is Jimmy Page, one of the greatest of all time. Lead singer is Robert Plant, John Paul Jones bass and keyboards and John Bonham drums. LZ is the greatest rock & roll band of all time hands down. This video was done at Madison Square Garden in 1973.
Rolling Stones and the Beatles were pretty good rock & roll bands also.
Led Zeppelin is legendary for sure, but Rush is glorious and mythic. ;)

Simply put, it's the greatest Rock song ever made!!!!

This is a great song. Memories of my lost brother. (Happy thoughts). He wrote songs and preformed at children's hospitals and non profit' origination. Mystical song! He lives thru me, no sadness but music is on my heart. Just to say, I'm older and was always told to stop
Singing bec I even sang while eating, lol. I did karaoke years later and they were glad to say they were related. My opinion is never give up singing no mater what. Music makes each individual happy no matter what style or ethnic group.

Going to go see Robert Plant and Alison Krause on August 13, 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver! Can't wait!! ❤🤘
I saw them I April of 2023,it was great!!!
@stevehouser8066 I seen Robert in 83 and 84... I also seen Led Zeppelin in 1979, I can honestly day I've never been to a better convert than in 79 and of course Robert was phenomenal in 83 and 84!!!
Great reaction! You would also really like Live performance of “Since I’ve been loving you” at MSG
The guitar is a double necked Gibson styled on the Gibson SG. One neck is 12 strings and the other is a standard 6 string.
I love how this song climbs its own stairway of INTENSITY !!
They were one of the hottest rock groups from the late 1960s through the 1970s.
Your reaction to Stairway is worth coming back often for. 🙌
