  • Authentic spicy buffalo wings are a PERFECT food to serve on game day! Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he demonstrates just how easy it is to make these delicious crispy, hot and spicy chicken wings! One of the most important elements of this dish is to not over complicate things. You do not need any breading or spice rub for the chicken wings and the spicy buffalo sauce is made from just 3 main ingredients (hot sauce, butter, vinegar) plus some basic seasonings. These buffalo wings are a perfect snack for football days, but really they can be enjoyed any time you like! And be sure to make Eric’s homemade ranch sauce to pair perfectly with the wings!
    Ingredients (Buffalo Wings):
    -1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs. chicken wingettes (including flats and drums) approximately 12-15 pieces
    -1 gallon peanut oil for deep frying
    -1/3 cup Frank’s original red hot sauce
    -1 ½ tablespoons of butter
    -1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
    -1/8 teaspoon black pepper
    -1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    -1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
    -1/8 teaspoon onion powder
    Ingredients (Homemade Ranch Dipping Sauce)
    -1/4 cup real mayonnaise
    -1/4 sour cream
    -Juice of ¼ lemon
    -1/2 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
    -1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    -1/4 teaspoon onion powder
    -1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
    -1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed
    -1/2 teaspoon freeze dried chives
    -Salt and pepper to taste
    Directions:
    -Set the chicken wings out of the fridge an hour prior to cooking. If you bought whole wings, cut off and discard the wing tips and separate the drumette from the flat. Pat the wings as dry as you can get with paper towels.
    -Make the ranch dipping sauce by combining all of it’s ingredients and whisking together. Store in the fridge until ready to serve the buffalo wings.
    -15 minutes prior to cooking time, preheat your cooking oil. Eric prefers to use peanut oil, but any neutral flavored oil will work. Preheat to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
    -When oil reaches temperature, fry the chicken wings for 12 minutes, or until done. The skin should blister and become dark in spots, but do take care not to over cook as this will dry out the wings.
    -As wings fry, make the spicy buffalo sauce. Combine the Frank’s original red hot sauce, butter, and vinegar into a small sauce pan over medium-low heat. If you prefer, add black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder and stir together. Bring to a low simmer.
    -After 12 minutes of cooking time, the wings are done, remove from the oil. Allow to drain on a wire rack or in the wire basket in your deep fryer but do not place on paper towels as this will create steam and will undermine the crispiness of the wings.
    -After wings have dripped off any excess oil, add them into a large bowl, add the spicy buffalo sauce, and mix everything until evenly coated.
    -Serve and enjoy the wings with carrot and celery sticks, and along with the homemade ranch dipping sauce.

    Excellent- I just received this fryer and wings were the first test. Followed your tips. 12 minutes was perfect. As far as the sauce and ranch, I just picked bottles of premade original at the grocery- thx

    Hearing you crunch sure made my mouth water. The buffalo sauce is really spiced up. I know that I will be frying up a batch of wings real soon. And the ranch dresssing, so easy and full of flavor.

      The ranch really set things off, it was so much better than store bought and paired perfectly with the spicy buffalo wings.

    Use to get these uncooked buffalo.wings at Walmart years back that were drenched in sauce and whe you cooked.it right In The oven the sausage and grease would caramelize into these insanely delicious chips. The Tyson ones don't have nearly enough sauce

    Looks good. I've been trying to develop a sauce recipe. I kind of like going to some wing places that have a reddish brown color to the sauce and not an overly creamy taste from too much butter. I'm guessing the darkness comes from honey or some other brown base like Worcestershire.

    • @SimplyElegantHomeCooking
      @SimplyElegantHomeCooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the more butter cuts down on the heat when making a wing sauce. If the color is darker brown then it probably has some extra spices in it as well.

    Great ideas for wings! I definitely avoid deep frying generally, but these are great every so often! I definitely need added heat to sauce! Cheers!

      Hmm if they are sour you might want to use less of the vinegar or more of the other ingredients.

    Can we marinate and freeze it for a large party and then cook it .
    I marinated it with some spices and coated in all purpose flour and freeze it .
    Can I deep fry after it thawed ?

      I've never tried it that way. That would be a very different recipe than the version I've presented here but it could certainly work well too.

    If you want to toss the wings in the sauce without making a mess get a bigger bowl or even a large disposable glad storage container with a lid. Just be careful not to put hot oil in the mixing container.

    • @SimplyElegantHomeCooking
      @SimplyElegantHomeCooking  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have seen people safely toss the buffalo wings in a giant bowl...I would get one except I am running out of space in my kitchen!

    No doubt about it frying the wings is the tastiest way to make them. I also like your use of peanut oil instead of vegetable or canola oil.

    • @SimplyElegantHomeCooking
      @SimplyElegantHomeCooking  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, peanut oil is by far my favorite for frying buffalo wings and most other foods as well.
