I'm 29. Born & raised in Buffalo. I've had wings in EACH of those exact restaurants- multiple times. In the beginning, when you blurred out 4 restaurant names, I guessed all four & was correct. So atleast I knew you were given all the right places. Before you revealed your answers, I knew it was gonna be Duffs. I was confident because Duffs is my all-time favorite & I truly believe it's the best wing. Many people (including Josh Allen) like Bar-Bill, however that's probably because it's alot closer to the stadium then Duffs. The DUFFS you guys went to (the original) has the #1 wings in the world! 💯
I live in Buffalo and go to Duff’s all the time. They have some pretty damn amazing wings, but you’ve gotta try other flavors to decide. I always get medium wings at Duff’s. But Bar-Bill is probably the best wings in my opinion and that place is always packed from the minute it opens to night. If you’re in Buffalo I highly recommend Duff’s and Bar Bill.
I literally came here to see if they went to Bar Bill. By far the best for obvious reasons. Duffs and Anchor Bar are tourist destinations that you could compare to the US side of Niagara Falls (when the Canadian side is right there for you to enjoy)
Anchor Bar used to be the gold standard for wings, especially when I was a kid and Frank and Theressa were still living. Gabriel's Gate is amazing, but there are some hidden gems like Curly's or Pearl Street Brewery which makes some great wings
Way out in the country, in the rural outskirts of Youngstown, NY, is Bandanna's. Also, a good place. Of course, I confess that owners are my cousins, but they've been in business for YEARS and get a TON of business. So, if you're visiting Niagara Country and enjoying a beautiful drive out in the country, you might like to check out Bandanna's.
duff's is usually a tourist favorite, honestly im am from buffalo, still live here to this day. born and raised and I love duff's grew up going there every Sunday for our big family dinner. Bar Bill is a big local favorite. Youll find all different types of wings in Buffalo, its very unique and I'm proud to be from the city that invented the chicken wing. I love my city!!
Idk duff's is better than just a tourist spot. Bar bill has awesome wings though. Id say bb or gg are the best two wing places. Can't go wrong with either. People around here get too serious about it and fight over sauces and which place is best. A lot of lesser known places have amazing wings too around here. Pizzerias around here have awesome wings too. Everywhere is good really.
Well now.. you didnt inventor the chicken winds. Winds have been around since way before the States were founded even. Its the dish. Chicken wings covered in Buffalo sauce, usually served with some ranch or bluecheese dip. That specifically is what is from Buffalo
Well, they have standards?? And is their restaurant and money. Soooo.....yeaahh. probably donation or workers take it home to feed their families. You never know kids.
The fact that they are saying that 'Oh my stomach is chickened out' or that 'we aren't tired of eating wings one after the other' is all bs as it's obvious the clips are taken over a few days and that's so obvious , their clothings changed , weather was different , so I don't know why were they so fake about it .
Buffalo native here. And that's how you know the sauce is done right, when she said "can I just lick it off the plate?" Proper buffalo wing sauce should give you that exact reaction, sweet, spicy, buttery, delicious 🤌
I live in Buffalo and haven't eaten at all these places, literally every pizza place sells wings. The thing I wish they would have tried are the different flavors of wings. Sidebar: love they put the guy who always blows bubbles out his window in Allentown ❤
Great video! I'm a certified wing freak, but I can't have them anymore except rarely, due to health conditions, so I love watching videos like this and pretend I'm there, stuffing my face with my very favorite food like in the good old days of Younger Skinner Troy...*sigh*...I used to fry wings all the time for gatherings with friends or family, like camping trips, parties, etc. I was known as the "Lord of the Wings." I would have the Frank and Teressa's Anchor Bar sauce sent to Florida by the gallon! I think the "Hotter" sauce was the best one, but it was a while ago...in any case, it was worth the expense! I wish they sold it in Publix!
John Young was the originator, selling whole wings doused in sauce years before anchor bar, at local events and restaurants on Jefferson, just about a mile east of where anchor bar originated. Even Ron Duff said, back in 1960 John Young's wings were his favorite, after game meal, when the Bills arrived. That's years before anchor bar started serving them
"John's Wing's & Things" I think it was called. His were the whole wings with the tomato-based "Mambo Sauce". I think Teresa had that in mind on that fateful night at the Anchor Bar. I think Young was the forerunner that inspired the Anchor Bar (since his were a tad different) but I agree, he was the originator of the "Chicken Wings as a Snack / Meal" concept and should be recognized. I say both Young & The Belasamos should be seen as joint inventors of the Chicken Wing, with the latter introducing the "cut wings in hot sauce" variation.

As someone born in Buffalo and lives in East Aurora (home of Bar Bill) and having had Anchor Bar, Duffs and Bar Bill I have to say Bar Bill's are the better of the three for 3 reasons 1. The most crunch 2. The most amount of flavors 3. The best levels of spice If you go to Buffalo take the 30 min drive to Bar Bill and get the dry rub Cajun wings they are absolutely great
Agreed, as my brother and I were just there in East Aurora two weeks ago but couldn't step foot in the place due to it being packed. We got the wings to go and they were outstanding.
They used to be cheap, basically chicken wings were a throw away for retailers, used by homemakers mostly for chicken soup or restaurants used them to make stock. When the "buffalo chicken wing" phenomenon happened the price of chicken wings continued to increase as demand dictated. When they went national, all bets were off on pricing. Local wholesale cost for wings is around $2.25 per pound up from twenty-nine cents a pound back in the day.
I have lived in Buffalo my whole life. And Duff’s have always had the best wings here. Anchor bar may have been the original but they’re always more of a tourist attraction. And they use a different kind of wing then a lot of other places in the city and surrounding areas. There are bars and restaurants in the area that have better wings than Anchor.
I enjoyed this, I live in Buffalo. We have best food here! The bubble man of Allentown you showed, passed away sadly. Its not the same without him blowing bubbles out the window.
DITAMPOL I’m thinking about opening my own Wing place down here, there isn’t a single place or person down here who can make authentic buffalo wings, I been making them for Years
I recently visited Buffalo. Me and my friend tried all of the mentioned recommendations. Gabriel's gate ended up being our favorite. The wings there were phenomenal and the fries were also top-notch. I hate to say that Duff's ended up being the least favorite of all considering it's ranked at the top in every food review channel.
Next time try going to The Pink just down the street. It looks pretty sketchy but they make probably the best steak sandwich in Buffalo. It’s a cool dive bar and the drinks are cheap.
One that they didn’t go to is Elmo’s on Millersport Highway. They’re really underrated. I’m a Duffs guy as well but Emlo’s and Gabriel’s gate are really good
Welcome to Buffalo Ladies... it’s always nice to have outsiders come and taste the goodness of Buffalo food.. I realized years ago after traveling to a couple City’s how good the food is here. Next time you visit you must try “LANOVA” wings off the pit.. you want crispy, you will definitely get them there.
Honestly from someone who grew up in East Aurora bar bill is meh compared to the great pizza places around the south towns to get wings. I worked at Pasquale’s EA and think even there wings are betters.
Its so surreal how this video is only 4 years old and prior to Cornovirus, however the people, atmosphere, energy just felt more alive and well than the present day. I don't know how to describe it other than everything and everyone just feel more alive compared to today.
WE were in Niagara Falls this past week, we were going to drive over to Buffalo but found that there was a Duffs there in Niagara. I must say Duffs were definitely some of the best wings we've ever had. I travel a lot and try lots of different local restaurants when I travel so I'm saying something when I give something top dibs. We had mild hot, hot garlic parm, and honey hot. Let me tell you, the kids even toughed out the hot sauce they were so good. Cant' go wrong with Duffs. Next itme I'm in the area I'll try another one.
Right, if you don’t ask for crispy wings you might not get it.Everyone don’t like crispy wings. You just about can find good wings anywhere in Buffalo.
Great video. Gabriel's might actually be the winner. I've always wondered about the wings in Buffalo. Tried a few videos to find a good wing tour and this is by far the best. Thanks.
The fries with gravy and medium wings at Duffs!!!! I went to school at UB. Duffs was such a special treat. Had to make the pilgrimage at least once a week. Been 30 years since I've been back. Great memories!
I'm from Buffalo and Duff's is very good. Although you are missing a whole new level of wings. The chargrilled chicken wings. The deep fry it like normal and then over an open flame before saucing them. Completely changes the flavor. Next time you're in buffalo, you should try them. There are several bars that are very good at this.
Also, Frank & Teresa were inspired by another guy who came before them, John Young, who ran a place called John's Wings & Things. Unlike the Anchor Bar wings, John's were breaded whole wings served with a tomato-based "Mambo Sauce". - John first came up with the concept of wings as a meal (as opposed to trimmings for stock, gravy and sauces) and Frank & Teresa of the Anchor Bar came up with the "Buffalo Wing" variation involving hot sauce, blue cheese, celery, etc. It was less a case of theft and more inspiration on the Belissimo's part. - For years, however, John wasn't recognized for his contribution but finally got recognition at the 2013 Buffalo Wing Festival, recently and is now in The National Buffalo Wing Hall of Fame (yeah, that exists, we love our wings).
Duffs is the best place to go in Buffalo. Have been living here for years, and its always my top choice. You need to get extra saucy! The blue cheese there is fantastic!
Giuiirrrl! Don’t tell me you skipped on the Beef on Weck. Pa Lease don’t tell me you skipped on that. I love Gabriel’s Gate! Wings and Labatte Blue Bwer. YUM!
BRO YES!! Duffs... that's what i'm talking about. I'm literally eating Duffs right now and wanted to watch something on wings while eating them and of course, Duffs ends up being the best. I love Duffs
President Obama went to Duff's when he visited. That location was closer to the airport. I like to go to Duff's for my birthday, the one in Orchard Park. They have the Wing/Weck combo. I don't think the original Duff's has that. Great wings! I like Bar Bill's too. I've done a birthday visit there as well. They weren't as meaty, but tasted fine. I have not had Gabriels Gate wings. Anchor Bar wings are fine, but over 15 years ago had a bad experience of bad service that lead to leaving less of a tip from our group. The waiter received a tip that was more than $15, but they felt it should be closer to the 15% and they chased us out in the parking lot basically asking for more. Duff's is number one for me of these locations.
The best way to do wings is in the air fryer for 15 minutes on one side at 400, then 12 minutes on the other side at 400. No grease. Took me 48 years to perfect them and yes, we do call them "wings" or "chicken wings" here in Buffalo. If you say "Buffalo Wings" we know you're from out-of-town.
You should have gone to La Nova Wings. They have the best bbq chicken wings off the grill. The way they sauce the wings are outstanding! It will be the best chicken wings you will ever have in your life. I know your story was about the original chicken wings.... but La Nova is a place to consider when you talk about Chicken Wings in Buffalo, Ny!
I LOVED La Nova! I heard they closed the Buffalo location and only have the one left in Williamsville. They were so good the last time I was there about 5 years ago in Williamsville.
The Delaware pub & grill has the best crispy crunchy and saucy wings 🙏🏽 try it I promise they don’t have a lot of flavors but their wings are always perfect
Thanks for sharing. This was newsworthy information and fun to watch. Find it interesting that they don't serve carrots and celery like they did back in the day.
murphy_ wrestling28 the proper title is Buffalo Wings. But no one FROM Buffalo says I’ll take an order of Buffalo wings. We say I’ll take a single order of wings...or double etc.
Andrea Jones when we started watching we said who actually says buffalo chicken wings? We're from the Syracuse area and we just call them wings or chicken wings.
Growing up in Buffalo from 1966 till 1985 what i remember is not having to travel far for foods the city is famous for in the city..... Beef on Weck was probably the 1 item not super widely available across the city.....Anchor Bar was the main spot or Youngs Wings and Things....Hell it was the late 80s when the Bills were getting National Attention when Buffalo Wings gained widespread popularity....We took Pizza, Subs and Wings as the Normal Weekend Combination for Parties or watching sporting events
Haven't been able to find wings that even come close to the ones back in Buffalo after I moved 😭 I basically just wait till I visit buffalo to eat wings now
Great, great review. You two are terrific. You have sophistication, beauty, and charm. You can really feel the comradery, honesty, and friendship between you two. I am a big fan of wings, and am a big fan of you two. Thank you very much for your video.
I'd never had chicken wings before I moved to Rochester, NY for college. Had some friends who lived in Buffalo and we often went to Duff's. Anchor Bar is the tourist trap, even seen some college frat initiations there. Everyone should have "their" wing place. Even if you're vegetarian. LOL
Oh the chicken wings are not uniform, oh it has bones..... duh it's chicken wings they are not made from one mold in a factory.🙄

Matthew Truitt actually like my comment stated it is MY hometown favorite. How are you gonna tell me it’s not? Random stranger 🤔
I live in buffalo ny so I be eating these wings all the time🤪🤪
Kidd Terror I’m from Buffalo but I moved to Alabama
dang it! I'm jealous!! :((((
DITAMPOL I’m thinking about opening my own Wing place down here, there isn’t a single place or person down here who can make authentic buffalo wings, I been making them for Years
@@Jheard92 Yum id love to eat some yaaaasss
@@Jheard92 yes, that is a great idea
I recently visited Buffalo. Me and my friend tried all of the mentioned recommendations. Gabriel's gate ended up being our favorite. The wings there were phenomenal and the fries were also top-notch. I hate to say that Duff's ended up being the least favorite of all considering it's ranked at the top in every food review channel.
Lol nice joke hahaha attention seeker
@@Om-rit at least she’s right about Gabriel’s gate
@@Om-rit your dumb comment sought more attention from me lmao
I took my friend from Texas to Duff's. Wings were terrible. Bocce and John's on Delaware were better.
I live in Buffalo, and Duff’s is my favorite wing place. Get the Hot BBQ wings. You won’t be disappointed!
They don’t have hot bbq at the real duffs.
huh
I got em I was disappointed, u have no taste
I think when a chef has an idea about "dont cheap" thats a winner
Being born and raised in Buffalo, I was gonna be sad if bar bill wasn’t on here. Amazing food and great Atmosphere. Love all these places!!
I wonder while bitting those wings if she eats her nails and feels the extra crunch😂😂
Buffalo Brew Pub... Wings and weck. Both are perfect and you can pair them with a lovely local beer flight! Always packed though!! 🔥👍
My mouth always springs water at the very smell of the Buffalo wing sauce, but just looking at these wings on this video has my mouth springing water.
Thank you for making this video! Love the maps and commentators.
I LOVE Gabriel’s Gate. I’m from Buffalo and they’re one of my Favs
dido
wow, amazing food, you make me hungry my friend. I want to go there one time, thanks for your information my friend
FACE WORLD not everyone’s your friend lmao
why does this comment creep me out
DUN DUN DUUN
Banned legend Stg i was finna say thay
When you order wings in Buffalo ask for them crispy, I've been here my entire life and I still do that.
Right, if you don’t ask for crispy wings you might not get it.Everyone don’t like crispy wings. You just about can find good wings anywhere in Buffalo.
White people like rubbery chicken
Great video. Gabriel's might actually be the winner. I've always wondered about the wings in Buffalo. Tried a few videos to find a good wing tour and this is by far the best. Thanks.
The fries with gravy and medium wings at Duffs!!!! I went to school at UB. Duffs was such a special treat. Had to make the pilgrimage at least once a week. Been 30 years since I've been back. Great memories!
I’m from Buffalo, the best wings are at the small places and DUFFS😍
Right. The pizzerias around here have amazing wings.
In my opinion, the best Buffalo wings are at Elmos on Millersport Hwy
*Mustachios on Elmwood.*
-
John first came up with the concept of wings as a meal (as opposed to trimmings for stock, gravy and sauces) and Frank & Teresa of the Anchor Bar came up with the "Buffalo Wing" variation involving hot sauce, blue cheese, celery, etc. It was less a case of theft and more inspiration on the Belissimo's part.
-
For years, however, John wasn't recognized for his contribution but finally got recognition at the 2013 Buffalo Wing Festival, recently and is now in The National Buffalo Wing Hall of Fame (yeah, that exists, we love our wings).
Does anybody ever actually eat the celery?
Rain Dyckie - I actually do... So, I’m weird, I think...
Me
Need some veggies after all that fried chicken bro
I do when it gets too hot
The celery taste hella good with that sauce bruh
6:44 I love that 😂
Anchor is the original birthplace. Its awesome place. Their bbq flavor is the best
YUM!
A “uniformed” wing... FOH with that review 😂😂😂
😂😂
Next time goto McDonald’s for nuggets.
you got the bubble guy in this video!! he's great. been blowing bubbles out that window for my entire life.
Anchor bar is where it’s at, way better than everyone else! And that’s a fact, I’ve tried all of these, and I would say Anchor Bar is the best!
I enjoy this series. The don’t have to be professional food critics to be entertaining.
The third wing stop sauce was just franks hot sauce 😂
Mason Vogel ye
And margarine! I was done when he said margarine... come on butter!
That's what real wing sauce is
I have been to all of these places, and my fav is Duff's. I also, I live in Buffalo so I know a lot about these places
When the wings are not uniform, and when the chef is a grandpa, it’ll make your tummy happy
BRO YES!! Duffs... that's what i'm talking about.
Gabes is gino Rossi approved
Barack Obama dude. Former.
I live in the buffalo area, I’ve never had wings and pizza as good any where else in the country than I’ve had here.
Honestly I just thought it was the sauce’s name
I agree, my air fryer wings are restaurant quality easily
Thanks Ed I used ur recipe and it’s amazing! I’ll be using this from now on. 🤤😊
@@tristanceles7738 That's great! Thanks!
@@NapkinEdStern ur welcome!
This was a fun video….i am also a big fan of ‘Duff’s….yum….need a buffalo road trip….when the snow stops flying like in May or June
The hosts seem like waiting for the approval of each other 🥸
Guy at 12:03 is just gonna get as drunk as possible having to endure these two and their terrible conversation/chemistry.
Agree 100% plus they have the best blue cheese in the Buffalo area hands down it's not even close BBQ wings and steak Pizza you got to love it
I LOVED La Nova! I heard they closed the Buffalo location and only have the one left in Williamsville. They were so good the last time I was there about 5 years ago in Williamsville.
Sponsered by Duffs Wings... Lol. Keep up the good work Insider.
I from Philly, and I went to duff’s for the wings and they did not disappoint me! Will be back again
john young was the actually the true inventor of buffalo wings and never given true credit for his work .
La Nova is king in Buffalo NY shout out to my home town!
I love the BBQ wings from Lanova hands down they have the best blue cheese in the Buffalo area
@@hellolove1576 Omgsh yes the best bbq wings for me!
Everywhere in Buffalo has good wings. It's hard to find the crispy wings. We also have some cool hotdog joints. The silo, George's, red top
True 💗
Crispy wings are just left in the deep fryer too long.
The Delaware pub & grill has the best crispy crunchy and saucy wings 🙏🏽 try it I promise they don’t have a lot of flavors but their wings are always perfect
Teds
@@JillMarchioli love teds. Georges in North Boston has the best curly fries.
Duff's super saucy wings turns the joint into "Duffalo"!🍗
Good to see Klay in the kitchen whilst he was injured 😊
Thanks for sharing. This was newsworthy information and fun to watch. Find it interesting that they don't serve carrots and celery like they did back in the day.
Mister pizza on Elmwood got that🔥🔥🔥🔥no lies!!!!
Period!!
I was waiting for a comment about mister pizza!! Their black and blue wing is soooo good
Herrine: They don’t even call them buffalo wings, they just call them wings
(Herrine pointing at menu) 7:48 bUfFaLo ChIcKeN wInGs...?
murphy_ wrestling28 the proper title is Buffalo Wings.
Nobody calls them Buffalo wings here
DUFFS wings are the bomb! Hands down!
So are you
Growing up in Buffalo from 1966 till 1985 what i remember is not having to travel far for foods the city is famous for in the city.....
Haven't been able to find wings that even come close to the ones back in Buffalo after I moved 😭 I basically just wait till I visit buffalo to eat wings now
I love when you guys make these wings videos, please keep them coming 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
Bro Wingnutz in Buffalo NY is where it's at. Those wings are crazy good
Wingnutz checks all the boxes. Huge wings, amazing sauce, and crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside.
Great, great review. You two are terrific. You have sophistication, beauty, and charm. You can really feel the comradery, honesty, and friendship between you two. I am a big fan of wings, and am a big fan of you two. Thank you very much for your video.
bro what LOL
I love buffalo wings 😭❤ fav episode 🥺
I'd never had chicken wings before I moved to Rochester, NY for college. Had some friends who lived in Buffalo and we often went to Duff's. Anchor Bar is the tourist trap, even seen some college frat initiations there.
Everyone should have "their" wing place. Even if you're vegetarian. LOL
