- This video was filmed while purchasing NES games for "Scott The Woz Presents: The Mysterious Game of Crypticism", a product I released on Pixel Empire in 2020 where the all proceeds went to charity. There were 1500 units produced which meant there were 1500 NES games to buy.

I bought one, greatest decision I've ever made. It even came with a random sock, I didn't realize what it meant until I remembered the "Lootboxes" episode.

I suddenly want a cartridge with hundreds of NES games on it and every time I boot it up, I get a random game to play. "But why not just have all the games in a list that you can choose from?" Because where's the fun in that?

Bizhawk Shuffler might be up your alley if you play ROMs. Basically every so often the software will pause whatever game you are currently playing and load up a random other game you put in the shuffler. For a demonstration, check out the TRG Colosseum video that uses it

Imagine being the lucky SOB who gets their scott cartridge and finds out the game is bubble bath babes or bonk's adventure. Knowing scott, I feel like there is at least 1 game in there that is going to make someone lose their minds.

This is cool because I’ve recently started collecting NES games.
I'm glad that NES games are no longer "nostalgic", because it makes the prices lower for those of us who still do care. Atari 2600 games are an extreme example of this; I can get those as cheap as $3 sometimes.
And then stuff like PS1 games aren't gonna stop being nostalgic until long after the disc rot sets in.
The images on the box art really make me want a official Scott the Woz game, ala AVGN Adventures.
Scott's bank is just gonna be going over his credit statements and wondering why he's spending thousands of dollars at various game stores buying items with little value

3:55 Damnnn, hearing how he can just cough up to pay for 500 nes bundles on the fly really amazes me. l dont mean to pry into Scott's personal life, but How in the heck is this guy so wealthy?? Does he save money by sustaining himself on photosynthesis instead of having to buy food or something lol
I think TH-cam just pays better than a lot of people realize (assuming you don’t get screwed abruptly by demonetization).
Just guessing here, may say something wrong/stupid, but given that his channel seems to be doing very healthy numbers on a consistent basis, and I don't think he's had too many issues with demonetization (I may be remembering wrong, but I believe he talked about this with ConnorEatsPants on their Clubhouse Games stream, and he said he hadn't really had too many issues with demonetization...obviously things could've changed in the past year but let's be optimistic), he probably is making pretty good bank from the channel. Probably also helps that some of his weird purchases end up being important parts of his videos, which would probably make them tax deductible (and for that matter, since most of his videos are made from home, there's some other tax voodoo he can probably do there too with some of his home expenses that probably saves him some money), so some of his more outlandish purchases might not actually cost him much. Obviously none of this is directly related to the NES games seen here, but the point is he's probably in a pretty good place financially.

He’s got 1.37M subscribers and every video he makes gets really healthy views. It would be more surprising if he *didn’t* have quite a bit of money coming in! It’s not like he lives some uber-extravagant lifestyle (games aside) which is going to use it all up either - Scott seems like a sensible chap.
@@Zveebo Yeah your point is a very good one. Like he lives in a very normal house and probably has a very normal car etc. For example you could buy thousands of (cheap) games for a prize of a single high-end Audi.

I feel like the NES games are a historic icon, but SNES is where games actually start to get good.
This was such an incredible bundle to receive. I especially loved all the little extras, like the postcards referencing videos and the signed picture! It's clear a lot of attention went into the package and I was thrilled. :)
Man i am SOO happy that you went out of the way to get more NES games, because of that i was able to get one of those boxes myself, of which I thought i was going to miss out on since when I went to order it went through, but it showed up which was awesome.
This was a fun little idea. Stunk I missed out on the event but it was a great one. Hope you come up with another fun crazy idea for the next charity event.

Silent Service is a WWII submarine simulator. It's a great game for people that like the genre, but for most too complicated without the manual and old to bother with. I used to play it all the time on my NES, and still have a complete in box version.

Scott, you may have been here already but if not, in BG there's a really nice retro store called Rockem Sockem Retro. Our friend Jon is the owner and he runs it practically on his own with some help from a couple of guys and occasionally me. My wife and I highly recommend it. And if you have been there, this goes for anyone else looking for cool retro games store 🙂

You made fair points about NES collecting being past its prime. Though I do have to say, I think its climax was post 2010; not 2010.

I wouldn't say down-in-the-dumps. It's just his normal voice. This is Scott Wozniak just talking to the viewer but Scott the Woz is an exaggerated version of himself, hence the enthusiastic tones.

Think of all these games as an investment in the future. 30 years from now this stuff, regardless of what they are, are going to be worth a ton.
I think there are too many Nes consoles and games to be so expensive I mean there are more than 60 million. And the vast majority of people that buy Nes games probably wouldn't pay like 200 Dollars for one bad game.
@@grussgott0768 Nah but there are many collectors who want to have every last game, and it's going to become rarer and rarer over time to complete a collection, like anything else.
Look at how hard it was for Scott to get all the Virtual Boy games. Granted supply of those were already scarce, but who knows, 30, 40, 50 years from now, NES games could go just as far into obscurity.

Of course, sooner or later like every console the Super Nintendo will become extremely rare, and the games too but I don't think it is gonna happen soon.
