I gawk at the various special edition Wii U games I own. Main Channel: @ScottTheWoz Twitter: / scottthewoz Facebook: / scottthewoz Instagram: / scottthewoz
I still love how Scott shows his stuff off just on his floor. It’s like going to a friends house and he just shows you everything he’s got. Makes me feel like I’m in middle school again.
I can just imagine Sam or Eric or someone walking in to pick Scott up for a party or something and seeing him laying down on the floor, ranting about a Wii U game on his super fluffy carpet
I like to imagine Scott records the voice over after he records the video, and remembers his talking points via subtle nuances in his on-screen hand gestures.
I remember hearing about Shakedown: Hawaii being the final physical Wii U game in North America and the first thing I thought was "wow I wonder if Scott's stimulating the economy today"
@@giygasness7646 Yeah there's probably still gonna be eShop games up to the shop's closure, but in terms of physical games the disc printers are already dismantled
Shakedown: Hawaii was also the final physical Wii game. However, the Wii version was only released in Europe because Nintendo of America stopped pressing Wii discs.
To be honest, I prefer his shorter stuff. That recent retrospective on the switch for example - it feels less focused and more random. The best length for Scott is 20 to 30 minutes. In that format he’s focused, gets his ideas across and doesn’t ramble.
Fun fact: In Japan most mature rated wii u games had a black case instead of a blue case hence why the Bayonetta cases look like that. Have no idea why they did that though.
I think it works unlike Dreamcast ones not being consistent with it. They aren't Z rated ones (no clue if there is a RE revelations with Z rating like other entries had a censored D and uncensored Z version) though but I assume typically those games would be besides D rated ones. Maybe. No clue but would make sense. Besides while doesn't work on a shelf in some cases or may think a different console it does give them personality/stand out to let you know it's not a family friendly game and doing its job.
I still have a lot of good memories with the Yoshi's Woolly World bundle you showed off. I had been hospitalized the month prior to release from a car accident, though I managed to pre order that bundle from Best Buy. It had arrived a couple days after being able to go home, and it was the first time I was able to smile during what was a scary time for me.
Not a Wii U special edition, but I do have the special edition of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I asked my grandma for the standard edition, and she decided to treat me with the special edition. Comes with a limited soundtrack, art book, and steel book so definitely cool
The only Wii U game bundle I got were the Yoshi's Woolly World one with a blue Yarn Yoshi, and the Mario Parry 10 bundle with a Bowser Amiibo. I didn't really want Mario Party 10, nor did I really want the Bowser Amiibo, but for some reason when I saw them together I figured they would justify eachother. Goes to show you something about marketing.
Never thought the Sochi 2014 wii remote bundle would be considered hard to find. I got that at launch because i wanted the game as well as a fresh new wii remote. Think it's currently in storage with my other wii u stuff
Red/White: colours of the Japanese flag so makes sense in Olympics perspective Additionally pre existing controller colors so no new units needed to be made
I got the Sochi 2014 bundle for christmas of 2013. That wii remote is still my go to one, I threw out the big box as soon as I opened it though😂 I think one of my biggest regrets about the wii u era is not picking up games like Rio 2016, Twilight Princess and some of the later amiibo just because I became so disinterested in the console by then. I just completed my smash amiibo collection this past winter and I’ve contantly thought about how much money I would’ve saved had I bought them all / put them on my christmas list back then. Live and learn though I guess. Still haven’t gotten Rio or Twilight Princess cause I refuse to pay that much for 2 games I know I’ll never play
I own the Wind Waker HD Wii U. The game was a download code, alongside a code for Hyrule Historia. Kinda wish it was a full game case like Nintendoland though.
I just watched the dark age of Nintendo again and the fact that the story of him not buying Ultra Smash because of Amiibo Festival being true is weirdly really cool to me
There was also Rodea the Sky Soldier for the Wii U, which also came with the original Wii version of the game. It even had a reversible cover to make it look more like a Wii game (although it still stood out, as the case was still blue).
11:30 At least they had the decency to put the bigger game on the cart and the smaller one as the code! Good for them! I thought that would never happen.
As somebody from the UK, my favourite special edition version I have for the Wii U for any game is Bayonetta 2 first print book. I spent £80 back in the day in October 2014 and I think it’s going (right now) anywhere between £200-£300 (give or take there, ball Park region). Something that Japan and you guys in the US didn’t get. Our Xenoblade X special edition came in different packaging, completely identical to the project zero special edition in terms of style, same with Tokyo Mirage sessions. Not to mention every other special edition for the Wii U console and to a lesser extent 3DS.
I'm just gonna be honest and upfront, I legit prefer Scott's videos on this channel compared to his other one. These feel just... I dunno, like more down-to-earth. I just think I prefer when people aren't playing a character and all.
The last physical game for each Nintendo console: NES - 1998 (15 Years) SNES - 2003 (13 Years) N64 - 2003 (7 Years) GameCube - 2007 (6 Years) Wii - 2019 (13 Years) Wii U - 2020 (8 Years) *Still getting digital games until 2023
Dude, your logic and way of thinking is exactly like mine. I say that for several reasons, but one being how you buy things you think will be expensive later not because you’ll sell them but because you don’t want to regret not getting it at the time.
I always liked the Tokyo Mirage Sessions Special Edition. The soundtrack being included is really nice considering most of the songs like Reincarnation and Give Me, you don't get to hear the full versions in-game. The artbook is also really nice with tons of fantastic art. And it's how we knew about early scrapped ideas like Tsubasa wearing glasses and Maiko being a party member. And the stickers are adorable. I just wish we got another special edition when Encore came out
I bought the Wii U with Super Mario 3D World and Nintendoland bundled in. Plus Mario Kart 8 separately. At Target "That's not special!!" I can hear you think. Well it is, why? Because I got it at the now defunct *Canadian* Target. With receipts and everything. Now THAT'S rare.
Scott: Mario and Sonic at Rio SE has a red and a white Wii Remote because those are the colors of the Japanese flag. This was for the Olympics, where national flags are displayed prominently. No idea why Sochi needed a turquoise Wii remote, maybe they had a lot of turquoise dye laying around?
Man, the Sochi bundle was my “free remote no-brainer” purchase back in the day. Got it on sale at target for $30 and it was my first wii remote plus! Been my main remote ever since! Think I kept the box in storage too
Also being one of those guys who's like "look at this thing I have, its worth SO much money" but never intends to sell, allow me to explain: I always get "nice, when are you selling it?" "I'm not" "Then why do you care?" I always collect things in hindsight. If I look at a thing I want, think it might be expensive in the future, I'll grab it. Not because its investing with intent to get a return, but I don't want to pay that future price. Because passing by something, only to want it later after its tripled in price, really sucks. Also, its just neat information lol
Skull Kid in the Majora's Mask was planned to be an amiibo, but they couldn't figure out a good use for it, so it was retooled to be a non-functioning figure.
That cutting open Amiibo was relatable, when I was a kid and star wars toys made a comeback I did this, a few years back my dad gave me a suitcase filled with empty star wars blisters lol. I offered them online for free and got no takers so they went in the recycling. It hurt a little cos of nostalgia/memory I guess but.. I don't need a suitcase full of empty blisters.
Scott talking about Wii U console special editions that are over 3k just shows how much he loves foreshadowing
Lmao
Lol
He got them when they were new, so the joke’s on us
I’ve never understood this type of thinking. If you want to see your money increase, there is much better ways than investing in video game stuff.

That's a huge part of the appeal of the second channel. Just feels like a laid back casual conversation about the industry, it's awesome

it's actually a table with a carpet on it and i am forever scarred because of that fact

There is allegedly an indie wii u game that is still in development right now
@@giygasness7646 Yeah there's probably still gonna be eShop games up to the shop's closure, but in terms of physical games the disc printers are already dismantled

Scott, keep doing these type of episodes. The smaller stuff that don't take nearly as long as an actual episode to film are so cool
Yet they are still funny imo. I do agree
To be honest, I prefer his shorter stuff. That recent retrospective on the switch for example - it feels less focused and more random. The best length for Scott is 20 to 30 minutes. In that format he’s focused, gets his ideas across and doesn’t ramble.
@@TimothyCollins actually, I prefer the longer episodes. It's nice to fall asleep to or have in the background while at work

Fun fact: In Japan most mature rated wii u games had a black case instead of a blue case hence why the Bayonetta cases look like that. Have no idea why they did that though.
To keep them distinct from the family friendly blue branding
Kinda neat though

Love how Scott stash is essentially a good diet version of a regular video as a commentary vlog update
Only Scott can make a 26 minute video about special editions of Wii U games
In his second channel... Magic.

Things I have in common with Scott

2: end of list
“Special edition” definitely feels like an oxymoron for the Wii U.
yeah every version is special. endangered, if you must.

These are some of my favorite videos from Scott. No script or skits, just Scott talking about interesting games
Scott the woz videos are normally so well put together that listening to him just talk while laying on his floor is jarring
Relationship goals: to have someone look at me the way Scott looks at Wii U stuff.
I think the red and white wii remotes was meant to represent Japans flag, since the bundle is for an Olympics game and it never came to the states!
"I don't have everything"

the double box for Bayonetta was also released like that in Europe. I owned that one.
