TheFlyingFish 39 hey shut up
@@mattfahringer148 hey what's your problem smh
matt fahringer Why?
One of my fondest memories when collecting goes as follows: I had a small collection of 10-or-so games when I was a kid, and one of those few original games I bought was Plants vs. Zombies on the DS. Was a good port of the original game. Then, I traded it in and forgot it existed. 10 years later, I had amassed a shelf of video games because a retro game store opened, and subsequently closed, so I had no access to buying retro games at all. In an eb games, they were selling off all their old and outdated DS games. I see Plants Vs. Zombies for the DS. I figure I'd buy it because why not? I put it in my DS and loaded it up.
I recognised the save file.

There is a game called Gamma Attack for the Atari 2600 that only has ONE copy ever made.
I like that Scott made an 11 minute video about what the rarest game is but the ultimate answer he has for us is that it doesn't matter and to just enjoy what you want to enjoy. He's a wholesome guy underneath all of the absurdity
S O N I C 2 W I T H A L I N E
Also emulating is the easiest way to access some of these games
That...
and the general idea of a "rare" game can be interpreted in so many ways.
You got it all completely wrong! That answer at the end was really him trying to hype people into believing that they simply can't live without a Genesis cartridge with his "autograph" so he can sell it for a billion bucks! The problem is that will only likely work the day Half-Life 3 releases!
"Whats the rarest game you own?"
"Shrek the third on the ds"
"But you have a ton of copies of that game it clearly isn't rare"
"Im the reason its rare"
In the Magic the Gathering collecting scene, this really happens.

Everyone draw a line on their Sonic 2 cartridges so someday Scott can't turn around and sell it to us for an outrageous amount.
Everyone, please don't do that! I've already bid $14,000 on ebay for his Sonic 2 and I need to pay off some debt from when I bought the rarest sausage in the world. It did not hold its value well....
It won't work unless you also have a press copy of Sonic 2, Scott's cartridge clearly says not for retail sale

The rarest game ever is an NES game called "Streets 199 -1"
It was sold at a local game shop near my area, licensed by Nintendo, i only saw one of that game and there isnt any information about it anywhere online.
Hey there know you posted this a while ago but did you ever end up finding more information about the game? What year was this and also like around what area? This sounds very interesting
@@duckluck54 i remember seeing it around 1993-1994. i checked a database for all NES games release from 1989 to 1994, i couldn't find it. i know it had a Nintendo seal of quality on the box. i also remember the box art, there was a car on a vaporwave plane driving towards the camera, there was a neon palm tree or a pine tree, and "Streets" at the top of the box, and the "199-1" under that. that's all i know
I know i'm 2 years late lmao but,
It migth've just been a bootleg game cart. Especially back in the day where gameshops couldnt just look up if it was a bootleg or not.
And before someone says "but the nintendo logo" theres plenty of bootleg carts with logos on them.

Irony he probably got that game for peanuts from a Blockbuster sale bin. People really didn't want to buy dirty heavily used carts and disks from rental places back then, usually with no box or instructions and with that gross"Rental Only" emblazoned on the cart art. Rarity is a funny thing ironically.
Scott "sonic jam owner" woz - "I don't want to be known as the guy who owns sonic jam."
Seeing all those prices makes me feel really lucky I found a working copy of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for the dreamcast for $40 back before Fightcade was a thing. It's still strange to me that a game can cost $250 even when people have gone out of their way to make playable versions with more modern support and functioning online. Like, owning the disk is cool, but I feel like the collectors market gets kind of gross when you know people aren't buying the games to enjoy them.
I don’t want none of them competition cartridges, I just want “Garfield The Lost Levels”
That's what's up.
SEGA needs to release Garfield: The Lost Levels on the Genesis Classic if they already confirmed Tetris

I don't own any rare games, but I do own a collection of Longmont Potion Castle stuff, which is so rare you literally _can't_ just buy the stuff *anywhere* unless you get in on his secret store which is only open for a couple days at random points in the year. In the few years I've looked online, I've only seen maybe 3 listings for used copies of a couple shirts and a couple CD's from private sellers with wayyy jacked up prices.
Every time I get an alert that he's got stuff available again, I immediately buy at LEAST one thing within a couple hours of it opening up, not just because of how rare it is (although that is admittedly a big factor), but moreso because LPC is absolutely hands down one of my all-time favorite artists and I love supporting his work. And the sweetest part is that he doesn't jack his prices sky high on his store!
