Sure looks like the Hobby Lobby in Dublin, CA. My wife and I were there yesterday. I almost picked up the bulldozer but ended up with a couple others. Very cool that you have your son and daughter doing this with you!
Sure is Dublin, CA!! I’m in San Ramon. My daughter is WAY more interested in the car and truck kits than my son. She has a car build, possibly two upcoming, my son only seems to like the Bandai Star Wars Kits. Thanks for stopping by! 👍
Even if their interests are different genres, it’s just great that you can work on projects with them. That’s priceless time spent with them. I’m now in my mid-60s and my daughter, who is now in her late 30’s, built a few snap kits when she was 10-12. I wasn’t successful at getting her to stay with it but she still likes to hear about what I’m building.
Looks like an awesome store, wish there where more like that over in the uk we only have two stores of that size over here in the whole country, sadly both of them are 30mins apart drive wise and 3 hours from me!
Hobby Lobby is not the end-all be-all of hobby stores. It’s conveniently close for a lot of us here in the US, but their selection and variety leaves a lot to be desired. Best of luck in the UK!
HL has decent prices but their model kit selection is limited. They do not carry Tamiya kits, Hasagawa, ICM etc, mostly older Revell kits, and the same old Ban Dau kits. Whenever I go into their store they have the same kits as before. They do sell the Evergreen products, and some weathering items as well. There is a Hobby Town store in town that has a better selection.
You are exactly right. Although my HL recently stocked the new AMT Bronco and Charger and has had a few new Revell kits, but the selection is limited. It’s always nice to have a choice of stores to shop at. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Looks just like the hobby lobby by me, cut and paste.. lol. That bulldozer...Whoooo!! I know I don't have the patience for that build, looking forward to your build!!
Your hobby lobby where ever its, has a much nicer selection than the one here in Reno Nevada, i was just in the store on 3/8/24, it had the 40% off sale, had the plastic kit selection, hobby paint, tools, etc. Is pathic. Maybe it was picked clean, or maybe the demand is low here. Anyway hope you all enjoy your builds. Model on...
Many thanks! San Francisco Bay Area. This store closed down and re-located. They drastically shrunk the hobby section. Still a decent amount of kits, but nothing to brag about. 40% off is great if you find something you like. I appreciate you stopping by, thanks 👍
Cool segment, I have a question. I'm looking for leftover parts from other builders. I used to have a box of all kinds of different leftover pieces, somehow it was thrown out in trash or at least that's what they thought. It's cool that you involve yourself with your children 👍
Thanks 👍 Most of us save extra parts from our builds. The best way to get extra parts is to buy 2 or 3 in 1 kits. If you’re looking for something specific, I’m sure you can ask around or look online. Best of luck 👍
I just picked up a few more from hobby lobby. They really do all look the same...lol... nice to see the kids getting into the hobby. I picked up the tie fighters from Bandai in the small scale. We should do a light side and dark side buddy build...lol
In my experience with hobby lobby is the price of kits....they offer a 40% off the prices but the kits are already highly priced and by the time you get to pay it's the same price of kits at other stores like hobby town and Michaels crafts....so there is really no savings....
They offer 40% off MSRP prices. It’s hard to find any other hobby store offering those kind of discounts on model kits. However, their selection is limited, so unless you want to build what they have, you’re headed to your local hobby store or online. It’s only worth it if they have what you want. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Nice buddy love the slammer on shelf stocker and black nova is on my list 2 in one kit same as the boss 302 I wanted to grab another 1 them after I built my other one some cool picks there as nd few great adds
As a new follower to the hobby, I'm searching for certain model cars. Cars that either I've had in the past or cars that my family has had. Do you have a catalogue?
Great question. For new kits, check out the manufacturers sites, such as Revell US or Round 2 or your local hobby store. For older kits I suggest online auction sites or local thrift stores. Welcome! Good luck, and have fun!
Hobby Lobby used to be great when they were opening up in Central CA. Decent kit selection like more Tamiya kits. Even brand new ones from time to time. Other than the Bandai Star Wars kits, most of their model selection kinda sucks. 😔 Don't get me wrong, there's always some kits that grab my attention, but their age don't justify the price. Still waaaaay better than Micheal's tho. They should just give it up.
You’re absolutely spot on! Just remember, Hobby Lobby isn’t a hobby store, it’s a craft store that sells models. I still try and do my best to support my Local Hobby Shop.
I hear you. There model selection has really dwindled lately. They should have 40% off every-other week, so check back, especially if they have a kit you’re interested in. Best of luck 👍
Our Hobby Lobby in Zanesville, Ohio hardly has any good models in stock! I contacted H. L., about their plastic model inventory, or lack there of! They responded by stating, that they look at their inventory annually and that if there are any requests, then contact them!?! But, since they only restock their models annually, it will take up to a year, before you would see, if your request was taken seriously! But I digress, I just wish that the H. L. store in Zanesville, Ohio, had a better selection of plastic models, like they used to! Like Star Trek, or construction models or even monster & horror models! Not just cars & trucks!
My HL in Dublin, Ca has drastically reduced the size of their model inventory. It went from 2 shelves down to 1 and now it looks like they are not stocking new kits at all. Almost all BanDai is gone and the selection of cars/trucks is minimal at best. To make matter worse my local hobby shop is closing. Let’s hope a new owner steps in 🤞 Thanks for stopping by 👍
That’s about the only time I’m there as well. Their selection doesn’t change much, which is good and bad, but I imagine it’s hard for LHS to compete with HL prices. Not my first choice, but they are close and it’s hard to beat 40% off!
Agreed. Their selection is nothing to brag about. But, if you’re interested in one of the kits they have, the 40% off deal is unbeatable. Support your LHS! 👍
🤣 No!!!! That’s not true!! That one’s new, right there, that ONE!! 🤣 We shouldn’t expect anything different from a CRAFT Store! That’s all they are, we’re lucky they carry any models in the first place! I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by 👍

I agree, unfortunately they, like many of our local hobby shops, sell at MSRP. While I won’t hesitate to grab a model at 40% off, their selection is limited and my local hobby shop is usually the better choice. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Sure be nice if they actually carried a new aircraft model instead of the same few kits they've had for years now . Gundam kits seem to have taken over that area . Lot's of car kits but not everyone builds cars . Pretty pathetic actually .
Hobby Lobby is a craft store first and foremost that happens to carry model kits. We should be thankful they have any kits at all and should instead support our local hobby shops. Thanks for stopping by
125 miles is quite a drive, sorry to hear that. Hobby Lobby has zero interest in model kits. Probably not enough profit, I don’t see them expanding their products anytime soon. Best of luck 🤞

It’s funny you say that because I just picked up the Boba Fett and Tantive last week 😆 Bandai quality is definitely on par with Tamiya. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Great haul. It’s great that your children are involved in the hobby. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. They are both excited to build 👍
@@ScaleSpeedworks That is great.
Looks like everyone has a fun time at HL. Always a great day when you come home with Kits! 😁
Yes sir! Especially at 40% off. I like to support my LHS, but HL makes it real difficult to do that sometimes. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Awesome haul buddy!! It’s great your getting the kids building!! Model On my friend ✌️
Thank you 👍 They’re very much interested, more videos to come!
Nice HL trip Mike, that bulldozer looks big and detailed, have fun building.
Should be fun. It’s on the “I’ll get around to it eventually” list for now 👍
i am 61 years old and this at 4:13 was my 1st model build ever. I still have this dusty beast in a box somewhere :)

The HL in WestCovina CA carry Tamiya kits. I picked up the Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog Light tank.
There was a tamiya M41, tank on the shelf in his video.
But I do agree with you about HL limited kit selection.
Cool, you will like the Bulldozer!
It’s going to be a project for sure!

Cool 😎 VW Beetle kit too!!.. I'll have to try one of those Airfix kit sometime!!
The airfix build up super easy. I’m going to have my kids build them on camera on 2x speed. They are well designed kits.
