Thankfully they still carry the Duster 340, buy one of those and use the chassis for the Demon kit. The new tooling was a marketing ploy as they used most of the older kit that had that horrible basic chassis. My model club displays our models in the mall in front of Hobby Lobby in Yuba City, Ca. two weekends a year. It promotes our club, promotes the hobby and we always see a few people go in to look after seeing our models we built on display. It’s impossible for us to sit there for 3 days without going in and getting a few things ourselves. We still promote our local hobby shops too for modelers, but Hobby Lobby’s 40% off sale really helps those parents who want to get their kids into a hobby but just can’t afford to spend $40 or more for their kid’s first kit just hoping they’ll like it. For $15-20 though it’s a little easier for them to go in and let their son or daughter pick out a kit they like and hopefully it gets the younger generation into this hobby and keeps it going strong.

I'm lucky to have 3 Hobby Lobby stores and a few local hobby shops in my area. I support all of them. My local hobby shops get new kits faster so I get them there. I usually go to Hobby Lobby for something that's been out a while.
Model building sure has changed since the 70s and 80s. Lol. Ive got one of the 66 malibu from the 70s i was thinking about redoing. I think i still have the flame decals.
I picked up the Demon and the 60 Ford pickup for 40% off the other day, built the Demon , I agree it is a great kit better than the original issue i built many years ago
I go to Hobby Lobby every two weeks when they have their 40% off sale, just to see if they have anything new. I have bought a lot of kits there, don’t think I ever paid full price! Since there are no other hobby shops in my area, ( hobbytown closed during the cool bs) HL is my go to. You missed the selection of Krylon Short Cuts paints in the paint aisle, they work great on models, too. Thanks!
So true........... Good eye, I went over there and there were some people looking at those paints so I decided to go back. But on my way home realized I forgot. 🙂
Hard to compare when they first came around in the 90s they used to carry tamiya, dragon and of course the domestic standby companies plus badger ABs & parts! And I'm talking aircraft, armor & sci-fi!😳 Jman
Kit selection is different in each HL, I've found. The bins are marked for the company's standard kit layout, but each store does not get all those products so they fill with what they have. Most of the HL selection has changed very little in a year, but the Demon, the '60 Ford pickup, and '63 Ford pickup (not shown here but one of the bins is marked for it so it's coming soon) are new on shelf. Where is this store in your video? My nearest store does not have anywhere near the extras that you showed. It must be a bigger store than mine.
Thanks for tip, i dont think we have Hobby Lobby in Australia. I like building fighter jets, wouldn't mind doing diagram of warship, maybe sunken Australian OHP frigate frigate with divers n fish. I am going set up shed displaying my cars n trucks collection much cheaper option, even though Australia didn't get 442 one of YT had one 'Junkyard digs'.
You would enjoy the video I made from the IPMS Nationals last month.... It's all the aircraft. There were several beautiful fighter jets on display. I'm a car guy but liked the aircraft models that were entered the best.

I'm sorry, but I have to say HL has nothing new in our area, Modesto, California. Unfortunately HL used to carry several HIGH END model manufacturers, Hasegawa, Tamiya, Academy etc... that was back in 2007 to 2009 when I lived in Northwestern Iowa. Unfortunately they are not what they used to be.
Thanks for the video Tim. Might have to head over next week when they have the bi-weekly 40% off sale. Snagging the Alaskan Hauler for $30 would be nice!
Usually a good selection of cars and gundams at my local one. Unfortunate they have really cut down on the aircraft kits, and the price on hobby spray paint has gone through the roof. The Lobby is one of the only places around to get supplies - just wish the people who owns them weren't such a sleazy bunch.
THIS facility needs to increase more in trains, N Scale and HO Scale, ALL KINDS OF ROLLING Stock, INDIVIDUAL LOCOMOTIVES, 3' flex track, and long electric switches, replacement steel wheels , and steel couplers, ECT. After all as it's name is, / it's called, Hobby Lobby!! it's supposed A HOBBY STORE.
Oh no, hopefully they put some new stock in there soon!!! Not really sure what you can do Ronnie, besides ask the Manager why and let them know other HL's have newer inventory. Let me know what you find out.
I visit hobby lobby a lot. They usually carry a pretty standard inventory, that rarely changes. I have noticed lately that they have been getting some new stuff. I’m big into gundam and have picked up a lot of them there along with the Star Wars kits. I wish they had more variety but it’s worth checking them out ,especially with the forty percent off.
I've been building models for thirty plus years , and finally have zero desire to even look at em anymore. Just sold a big aircraft and tank lot for 1700 paid more than double for em . So sad but its just not there. However still have a couple hundred cars

Hobby Lobby does carry a lot of hobby shop stuff at reasonable prices. Where else will you find a fresh bottle of ca and aileron stock 20 minutes away. Shipping is expeeeeensive for oddball stuff.
True
Can't beat that Revell 29 Model A. Buy 2.
So very true James!
I'm lucky to have 3 Hobby Lobby stores and a few local hobby shops in my area. I support all of them. My local hobby shops get new kits faster so I get them there. I usually go to Hobby Lobby for something that's been out a while.
Cool, sounds good Jim!
I'm fortunate to have a local hobby shop and Hobby Lobbys in my area. A guy really needs a second job 😂
I agree Robert, especially with all the cook kits coming out!
I want that 70 Plymouth Roadrunner
I got mine there. Great model. Nice easy build. Parts fit perfectly. You won't be disappointed
That's a cool kit!!
So true John, it really is!
I love hobby lobby
Me too
Model building sure has changed since the 70s and 80s. Lol. Ive got one of the 66 malibu from the 70s i was thinking about redoing. I think i still have the flame decals.
I agree, it really has..... That will be a cool build!
I picked up the Demon and the 60 Ford pickup for 40% off the other day, built the Demon , I agree it is a great kit better than the original issue i built many years ago
Cool!!!!!
And I'm talking aircraft, armor & sci-fi!😳
Jman
I agree
Kit selection is different in each HL, I've found. The bins are marked for the company's standard kit layout, but each store does not get all those products so they fill with what they have.
Most of the HL selection has changed very little in a year, but the Demon, the '60 Ford pickup, and '63 Ford pickup (not shown here but one of the bins is marked for it so it's coming soon) are new on shelf.
Where is this store in your video? My nearest store does not have anywhere near the extras that you showed. It must be a bigger store than mine.
In Louisville by the Jefferson Mall
Thanks for tip, i dont think we have Hobby Lobby in Australia. I like building fighter jets, wouldn't mind doing diagram of warship, maybe sunken Australian OHP frigate frigate with divers n fish. I am going set up shed displaying my cars n trucks collection much cheaper option, even though Australia didn't get 442 one of YT had one 'Junkyard digs'.
I like looking at the fighter jet builds. That will be a nice set up when you get it finished.
You would enjoy the video I made from the IPMS Nationals last month.... It's all the aircraft. There were several beautiful fighter jets on display. I'm a car guy but liked the aircraft models that were entered the best.
Awesome video. Great information!! Thanks Tim 👍🏻🤘🏻
Thank you Frank 🙂
The only Hobby Lobby around here is about an hour away, so me and my wife have to make plans to visit them. We’re actually planning on making the trip soon. I’m excited to see this video, cause I can get everything I need to get ready for the winter months! Thanks for sharing! 👍
😉 Cool!!!! 🤜🤛
I simply want an ‘82 Pontiac Firebird trans am that’s not a “knight rider” model.
I agree
I'm sorry, but I have to say HL has nothing new in our area, Modesto, California. Unfortunately HL used to carry several HIGH END model manufacturers, Hasegawa, Tamiya, Academy etc... that was back in 2007 to 2009 when I lived in Northwestern Iowa. Unfortunately they are not what they used to be.
Your right, 15 or so years ago they carried really nice kits!
Great place!
It really is!
Haven't been to mine lately I'm going to have to make a visit
Cool!!!!
My Town finally got a hobby lobby and i picked up two gundam kits 😁
Very cool!!!!!!!!! 👍🙂
Cool video Tim👍
Thank you Paul 👍
Same layout as the hubby lobby in anderson sc they had th3m in the exact same spots on the shelf
👍👍
Thanks for the video Tim. Might have to head over next week when they have the bi-weekly 40% off sale. Snagging the Alaskan Hauler for $30 would be nice!
Sounds good Tim!!!!
@timcarson8146 that's what I do when they have something new
@@purpurahaze9179 👍👍
Only go on the 40 % off week though, every other week. I didn't see the signs in this video.
So true, it's always nice to save some $$$
They were not on sale at that time.
I'll stick with Andy's HHQ and Scale Hobbyist
That's cool!!!!!
i used to build cars
Thinking about picking the hobby back up? Now is a GREAT time to be a modeler!!
Usually a good selection of cars and gundams at my local one. Unfortunate they have really cut down on the aircraft kits, and the price on hobby spray paint has gone through the roof. The Lobby is one of the only places around to get supplies - just wish the people who owns them weren't such a sleazy bunch.
Did seem like there were less aircraft
The lack of aircraft is nothing compared to the lack of in-store stock of sailing ship models, in just about all stores.
@@spikespa5208 👍👍
THIS facility needs to increase more in trains, N Scale and HO Scale, ALL KINDS OF ROLLING Stock, INDIVIDUAL LOCOMOTIVES, 3' flex track, and long electric switches, replacement steel wheels , and steel couplers, ECT. After all as it's name is, / it's called, Hobby Lobby!! it's supposed A HOBBY STORE.
Yes, wish they offered more train stuff.
I don't have a hobby shop nearby, but 2 hours away is a Hobby Lobby, and I'll purposely schedule trips for when the kits are on sale😂 Great video!
😉 Cool!!! 🤜🤛
At my local store, they are newish. Nothing released this year and the same basic selection for the last 7 months
Hopefully they add some new stuff soon Chuck.
Never a 40 percent discount on the overpriced diecast. Great video 👍
Very true!
Thank u for sharing I go to hobby lobby for models and supplies keep on building
Cool!!!
My hobby lobby has had the same kits for 2 years, 1,25th kits! What can I do??
Oh no, hopefully they put some new stock in there soon!!! Not really sure what you can do Ronnie, besides ask the Manager why and let them know other HL's have newer inventory. Let me know what you find out.
this is awesome...
I agree
@@THROTTLEPOWER
you motivated me to go to Hobby Lobby and purchase a Foose branded- 65 Chevy Impala and Ford FD 100 kits...
@@franzpaul6244 Cool, those are good kits that I think you will like. Especially the FD 100 ..... I love that kit!!!!!
So very true Onix...... I've been getting into those kits lately too as they are really well engineered and build up nice!
I just went there today loved it
Cool!!!!!
I've been building models for thirty plus years , and finally have zero desire to even look at em anymore. Just sold a big aircraft and tank lot for 1700 paid more than double for em . So sad but its just not there. However still have a couple hundred cars
Ok, hope everything is alright Keith
Hobby Lobby my favorite model store
Cool!!!!!
Great video Tim. 40% will be next week. Is the Alaska Hauler an Nice kit??? Thanks for sharing
Yes, love the Alaska Hauler kit Mike!
I read that they were expanding what they offered. Thanks Tim!
Yes, I think they are Alex!
I quit going to hobby lobby after a couple of years because they always sell the same kits and their prices on supplies are high. Looks like nothing has changed. Nice video though.
I understand Monty
Fully loaded shop, very nice 👌 👍 🍻🍻🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🤝🇺🇸🇺🇸🏔🌨🤗
So true KC 🙂👍🍻
Yep. Was there last week when they were 40% off. Great buys
Nice!!
Thanks for the tour. A little high priced for me. But you caught my eye with the paint.
Glad I could help!
I can’t believe how much kit prices have gone up! 😮🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️😢 over $30 for a model now?!?! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Especially in the past couple years.
Thumbs up to you TIm, Hobbly Lobby and our hobby! As usually I am jealous of you 48 staters access to hobby stores and the extensive inventories.
Thank you Darren
