Finally got to see the video... Great job Tommy! Outstanding compilation! And wow... hadn't seen that F-16 crash... damn those miserable tree-to-air missiles!
Great compilation! Love the A-10 half Cuban to landing, and all the cross wind landings. The Spitfire greasers are sweet, too. Thanks for sharing Tommy!
Another superb compilation RC Tommy! Man I love your Astroturf flying strip. And as usual such a high proportion of perfect greasers! Man I love to watch them! Those 2 Sukhois, the Flightline Spitfire and the P51 were just a few. And the Eurofighter landing while still banking on finals. Beautiful stuff! And of course the big models were beautiful too (sad to see the one write off), but its rare to see the little foamies flown so nicely. If I didn't have to work I would book into a hotel near your flying spot and stay for months!! Happy New Year!
Why didn't I see this three years ago? Not bad flying, beautiful planes, and awesome photography. The photography can make a video of even a mind-boggling scale aircraft intolerable to watch. Model aircraft video posters should take note of this one.
Hey Tommy I bought the Panasonic also. Are there special seetings for the stabilization of the video since you zoom in so far and dont have any wobbeling on the video ? How did you setup the focus ? thx alot Enrico
Hi Enrico. I'm afraid the answers to your questions are a bit complex. In short, I have disabled the built-in stabilization in the camera, and I use grid autofocus (anything in the center grid will mainly stay in focus). In order to get a stable shot when zoomed in I have to use a Manfrotto monopod with fluid head and base for mechanical stabilization. That may not work for everybody, but it works good enough for me. Then I spend hours and hours in my favorite editing software (Vegas Pro 16), where I get to apply different layers of stabilization. It is a time consuming process, but in the end I think it's worth it. To summarize: Most of the magic happens in post processing.
@@RCTommy Hey Tommy thanks alot for your advice and always takin the time to answer. Youre videos are really awesome and the focus and quality is supoerb. thanks again
Thank you mattgiles1667, I truly appreciate your kind words. I will get back to creating more videos this summer once I get back to the flying field. Cheers!
Thank you! Right now we don’t have any pilots flying the AL-37, but I’m close to buying one for myself to fly next season. In that case I will turn it into a "rednose" (Norwegian paint job) 😁
It could very well be so, yet for these shots I used my true and trusted Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2000/FZ2500 (@1080p60fps/100mbps) paired with a RØDE VideoMicro and a Manfrotto monopod with fluid head and base. The depth of field comes from a combination of using the built in ND filters and somewhat clever camera placement (plus zoom). I also spend a little (too much) time in post processing to achieve the image quality and colors that I myself can enjoy (Vegas Pro 16). Thank you for your comment 😁
@@RCTommy your joking!!! I got a fz1000 and it don’t look this good!!! And 1080p 60fps is limited to like 28Mbps in mine.. care to share your settings for video film mode and pictures?? I can do 4k 30 at 100Mbps..
The FZ2000 supports 1080p60fps@200mbps at most, yet the extra 100mbps does not really do anything for me considering TH-cam only supports ~15mbps. I’d totally use my camera for 4K footage if it supported 4K60fps. Unfortunately, it only supports 4K30fps at most. In video mode I usually keep autofocus on (since the AF is super good and very fast at keeping focus on objects). White balance is usually kept on auto or overcast, same with ISO (though depending on lighting conditions and location I sometimes keep ISO locked in on 200-600, but at our local field it’s best to keep it on auto for the most due to the constant shift from dark to light background). The only thing I always try to keep constant through a shot is the shutter speed. Depending on what kind of plane (propeller, jet or heli), i vary between 60 and 600 for shutter speed. If I want the background to stay blurred out for fast flying objects, I like to keep SS between 60 and 120. If I want a crisp background together with a fast flying object, I set my SS between 300-600 (depending on lighting conditions). To secure a blurry propeller, I keep the SS within the 60-300 range. Aperture is set to auto. Likewise with the built in ND filters. I don’t really use this camera for still shots, but in the rare occation I use Smart Auto (if I’m lazy) or fully manual settings which totally depends on the location and lighting conditions. Keep in mind, these are my preferred settings after many hours of trial and error. It’s a bit hit or miss, and most of my detailing and coloring are done in post processing anyways😊
I promise that I will make more videos like this in the future, but right now I have to wait for summer to come and for covid to pass. There may be a few videos here and there until then, but I would have to get creative since nobody is flying right now since we’re more or less in lockdown due to covid and freezing cold weather. Cheers! 😁

Some of the best flying. Good to see.

I know, right😁👍

The pleasure is mine. Thanks! 😁
Awesome video Tommy what a nice compilation 👌🏻😉
Thank you, Arthur-RC 😁
The 1600mm Spitfire, did you guys put a flap to elevator mix??
Yes some, but unsure how much exactly since I use trim (separate flight modes) to accomplish this
Practicing and perfecting the art of landing. Looks like everyone is having fun with the exception of the sad jet crash.
Very Satisfying video! Well done RC Tommy!
Thank you 😁

Entertaining as always :-) Plus an extra "time lapse" of the construction of a farm building in the background...
That’s a side effect/timelapse I did not think of. Cool! Thank you😁👍
Just rewatched the whole video because I wanted to see the time lapse xD
