I'm a painter of over 30 years. I've never done a dip or any kind of spray wrap on a car in my life, but you guys have me seriously looking at doing one. These colors you are creating are pretty amazing.
I'm sort the opposite end of the spectrum as you but end up in the same place - I've never painted anything bigger than the headlight bucket on my motorcycle but I'm really thinking about getting into "dipping" one of my cars.
@@nbrider7235 DO IT, both of you! Go out there and say F-it, lets shoot some coolers! 👍💪stuff peels off if you don't like the outcome, rip it off start over. 💪
OMG this was probably one of my favourite ones i've seen you guys do! I believe you nailed this project! I hope the original person who commented this suggest liked it? I think they captured the concept and executed nicely!
Just beautiful! I don't know if that's welded titanium, but maybe what you were thinking of was anodized titanium or niobium, where you run an electric current through the metals and you can get some amazing colors and color shifts. Whatever, I would call this a total success!
Welding is done with electricity, running an electric current to create the arc that welds it together! It’s what creates the anodized look when welding
WOW! The aluminum and blue base already looked pretty cool by itself but that holographic took it to another level! I think it's safe to say mission accomplished lol
Honestly, I know they hate the "pastel" situation, but I lowkey wanna see holographic pearl over ANY hypershifts with lighter base coats. Don't sleep on that psychedelic pastel!😂 LEMME SEE!!!🎉
I was just thinking that the holographic over a pink (cherry blossom) to green (spring or sage green) hypershift would be gorgeous! I love the way it looks on the blue.
I haven't really been a fan of the holographic flake videos at all, but THIS IS AWESOME. If I ever need to redo the paint on my zx14, I seriously might try to replicate this.
I'm not sure if that's what the commentor wanted, but this color is absolutely phenomenal!!! And yes it does have some similarities to welded titanium. This would make a killer car kit. I love the fact that you guys want to tackle these wild projects win or fail. And this is a win!!! Forget 5... this is a straight up 10!!!
This combination of hypershift pearl, and the grey base to achieve a titanium final effect is my absolute favorite of all your videos. I have always wanted to do a heat treated aluminum bicycle frame to the same effect that you ultimately have achieved with your dip process. Awesome awesomeness!!
We use the same holographic pigments on fingernails, but we found if we used a regular solvent-based topcoat, we'd get that glittery effect. To get a true, uninterrupted linear holo effect, we buff the dry pigment into the surface of a clear UV-activated polymer top coat, then finish with the same UV coating. No solvents, no glitter. Maybe someone reads this and sees a way?
@@elizabethwhite1014 yesss car painting could really take a few pages out of the nail polish book if you ask me! You’d be able to create some pretty cool stuff!
Not gonna lie, I'm not normally a fan of the holographic pearl....but on this one, it was pretty sick! the predominately blue/grey tones with the rest of the spectrum coming in in hints...that's nice! solid 4/5 for sure!
If the flakes were finer I feel like this would have totally worked. It looks great from far back just think up close and in person it might have too much of a bass boat appearance. Still dope
yes it has a great look, but the glitter is it's not fine enough. I give this a four out of five. I think it would have a great titanium look if the Sparkles word is large. then I would definitely give it a five out of five.
I'm reminded of this bit by Jeff Foxworthy upon seeing pearls like these: "You know what kind of stuff rednecks like to buy? Shiny stuff! We are attracted to shiny objects! UFOs, beer cans, fishing lures; if it’s shiny we like it! (....) That’s why bass boats have a glitter finish. Have you ever seen a yacht with a glitter finish?! But they put those bass boats out in the sunshine and we're hypnotized. 'We must have it! Here's our life's savings'." So while personally not for me, I will say it does look pretty cool and even more so from a distance. Did find it interesting how the colors shift in a way that mimics stuttering/lag in the closeups. Wonder if that's how it looks in person; or if it's just a side effect of the camera?
I think you nailed the color combination, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 only because of the excessive sparkle from up close. 5 out of 5 if you could make this kind of effect just a little more subtle 👍🏼
Phenomenal job! I don’t know if it’s titanium, but it totally reminds me of an aqua aura quartz. Other way, this is totally in my top five dips I’ve seen you guys do. Love it!
As an artist, airbrush artist & spray painter I never dipped a car in my 26 year career as both a spray painter & airbrush artist. As an artist this is the best & closest to a burnt or welded titanium type finish I ever saw before in my life. I Googled images of welded titanium finishes on car headers & exhaust pipes & this is extremely pretty close with hues of blue, silver tones etc. I totally LOVE❤IT MENNN!!
I've had some ideas for a while. One that comes to mind right away is ZBB hypershift with a small amount of an interference pearl on top of it to create the effect of a twinkling night sky. And of course I should say that while I don't think the combo looks that close to welded Titanium, it looks unbelievably cool.
Been lurking for about a month I guess, but this one earned you my subscription, absolutely in my top 5 all time favorite looks I've ever seen anywhere at all. This is gorgeous ❤🔥
This is gorgeous with the blue base but I think it would look more like titanium with a purple base! Just a thought as the owner of a BUNCH of titanium jewelry!
I love the look before the pearl went on honestly. The finished product is incredible but there was something elegant about that matte blue/ gun metal type look on that car

Awesome turn out! I Personally think doing this over a darker grey base giving a darker blue hyper-shift before the holographic topcoat would give much more depth and really make the final outcome Epic!
I wasnt familier with what welded titanium looked like so I did an image search. most of what came looks very close to what you guys came up with when viewing from a distance with one exception. Your tended to sheen red as the dominant color while the welded titanium images showed mostly blue/purple as the dominant colors. Great look in any case!
Nice first execution and It’s got you in the ball park. Slightly more vibrant blue hypershift base and a holographic without the green and you’re there. I agree with other comments on a smaller flake too.

As for today’s experiment, I give it a 5. Lovely blue and the holo is just pretty. You know, every good team needs a balls to the wall enthusiast (Fonzie) and a reasonable sceptic (Gabe). You guys make the perfect team! Thanks for all you do. Maybe holo over a deep red? Just thinking.

I love the cool grayscale shift on this. It's appears to have a prominent violet (range) color. Not really seeing how the blue hyper-shift affected this, but it's beautiful.

I think it's definitely unique, and I love how it was messing with the camera. But it's not the welded titanium look. The blue base is messing it up. Maybe try going over a medium silver base with that same pearl? The pour into the spray cup looked spot on...

Fantastic! MG Rover had a colour shift identical to this, over a lighter base, called Moonshine. It was a Factory option on their personalisation programme called MonoGRam.
This combo looks great. 4/5 not a favorite but great looking. IDEA: I know you guys have done a fade with the base coat on the car but have you ever tried a fade with hyper-shift?
