Spot on. And there wasn’t really a good type advantage you could use at that point so you just had to hope rollout didn’t absolutely murder your whole team.

THAT PART! Jesus some of the mini bosses in elden ring were an absolute headache. Nevermind some of just snuck up on you!
I got smashed into tiny pieces over and over again by the Baleful Shadow. Yikes, he was rough, and one of the only (mini) bosses I had to look up how to cheese.
@@ThatsAnAxe I remember getting owned by Bell Bearing Hunter slightly after i defeated Radahn. Even though i beat Radahn after a few more tries this mini boss took me almost twice as much to beat for some reason.

Like yes, if you use a holy healing spell with an area of effect you do half their health dmg or something and even stun them...
But that didnt help me untill i actually made a paladin for my 6th character that had an ffing heal spell....
These guys are so much more difficult than most bosses in the game.

Using any corrosive weapon makes Saturn from BL2 much easier. Not easier than the final boss, but a LOT easier.
Was about to comment the same thing. Using anything but a corrosive or slag weapon against a robot in BL2 is just asking for trouble.

A good end game bl2 build can melt Saturn in seconds.

For me, I got lady fist right before the fight (idk if that's the way lady fist comes but mine was jacked with +300% crit dmg +130% crit dmg) and it was melting him, so I was like "no way this big guy is supposed to be this easy?" Switched guns and was doing no dmg, laughed maniacally as I was about to make the guardian my b!tch 3 times in a row w/o having to leave to level up
I was waiting to see Bloodborne on this list but the fight I was thinking of is the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst. That fight was absolutely brutal and he's technically not a boss. I totally forgot about the sharks in the well, I don't think I've ever beaten them now that I think about it lol

I had to look up a way to cheese it. That's the only way I could defeat him.
I killed him with the poison knives cheese the first time I played the game and on my 2nd playthrough I did the fight the legit way, he is pretty hard but I still kinda enjoyed fighting him, the trio hunters at Yahargul are worse for me tbh

Just finished God of War 3 recently and the timing for the topic is perfect. I encountered a really hard mini boss fight near the end of the game against a cerberus and that 1 satyr, I kid you not that took me much more time than beating the final boss. It was so frustrating to the point that after I looked for walkthrough videos everyone on the comments agreed about the same sentiment.
I still have nightmares about this, one of the only times I had to drop the difficulty

The scariest thing in RE4 is playing the game in VR and when you load your save and turn around from the type writer Ashley is right in your face. I always forget about her and she scares the shit out of me every time lol
That two shark fish things inside the well at fishing hamlet is the most frustrating experience I had with a game. And I also didn't know about bone blade when I encountered them first.
The shark giants in Bloodborne are absolutely worth beating. Because if you defeat them, you get the Rakuyo. Which is arguably the best weapon in the game.

@@pedalpeakmtb I have. They’re tough, but, once you learn their attacks, I feel like they’re easier to manage. The triple berserkers will switch their focus randomly so you need to be able to see all of them or you get blindsided

Yeah I once would have commented agreeing with you but then I managed to beat them so I know it's not too hard. But the Valkery Queen and the king beserker, they're way harder than any other boss in Ragnarok even if you drop the difficulty to give me story - that is unless you practice and practice and get talented enough to whoop their butts (like the guy who defeated the King in about 15 seconds on GMGW and another who defeated the Queen without upgrades (kratos lvl 1 - no runics) on GMGW.
In sekiro I struggled more with the shinobi hunter than owl father 😂
Not sure if they're considered "mini"-bosses but the Weapons from FF7 were insane!
Those are super bosses. Mini bosses are akin to elite enemies but are unique and not typically just powered up versions of lesser mobs. Notice how every enemy in this video isn't an actual boss but an enemy out in the field and also how they don't typically share a model with another enemy.

Killing Saturn was a crucial part for my Axton build in BL2. Saturn drops The Hive rocket launcher, and pairing that with the Bee Shield and the Grog Nozzle can turn you into an unstoppable killing machine. This combination carried me all the way through to OP8.
I feel like axton and zero have the most trouble with him zero can bore him sometimes but still also in the vid they showed use a fire infinity which at the point should be lv 12 if i remember correctly lol
@@slasher8091 its last playthrough so infinity should be on level too, but in the last playthrough you really need to use elemental weapon correctly so fire on armored do basically nothing
@@vyrax401 i got all my characters op levels completed and i can tell you even a max perfect infinity with slag and bee it will do minimal dmg
@@slasher8091 IIRC saturn cant be slagged, so its even harder to fight that big bungus even with corrosive weapon
Galamoth from castlevania symphony of the night is another mini boss that is harder than the final boss and fighting him is completely optional.

Beryl amulet made this one of the easiest bosses by making his lighting spam useless and heal you at the same time
Alucard’s shield ability with the shield rod is another good tactic.
The good thing is, when you've killed the mini boss which is actually the hardest, you will know that the supposedly 'hardest boss in the game' will be beatable
Side boss The Former in Control is definitely harder than any main bosses, along with esseJ. Pretty much all of Control's side bosses are harder than main bosses
Essej absolutely destroyed me the first like five times I fought her. That was such a fun fight! I love Control so much and hope Remedy goes all out with the bosses in the sequel.

I'm surprised Lynels did not make the list - those are some of the hardest enemies in BOTW and they are everywhere out in the open.
It was so satisfying finally being able to beat these guy's, but yeah they put up a hell of a fight
Even though they aren't considered mini bosses and given a healthbar..
I have more difficulty with dogs in Elden Rig than I do with Lynels in BOTW.

If you do a follow up to this video, consider the Valkyries of God of War 2018. I know two of them are easier, but they are definitely considered end-game difficulty and normally require Lvl 5 or 6 gear.
God knows how many controllers i broke because of sigrun the Valkyrie queen

My favorite by far is Grimm from Hollow Knight, he’s by far been the most difficult and most satisfactory mini boss that I’ve ever fought. Lives in my mind rent free.

So great to see Returnal getting more exposure. A total masterpiece!! And yes, this malformed hulk dudes are a pain. What’s even worse is trying to fight Nemesis (B3 boss) as a scout in coop. “I’m falling! And I CAN’T GET UP!”
Something similar. In Bully (Canis Canem Edit here in Australia), the final boss, Gary, is an absolute pushover. In the same battle (Complete Mayhem), one of the mini-bosses, Derby Harrington, puts up a tougher fight than Gary does.

All I'm going to say is: Imlerith, The Crones and any other boss prior to Eredin from the Witcher 3.
It's not that they are hard to defeat, it's just that Eredin is so easy to defeat.
Doesn't help that most of us are way overleveled by the time we get to him.
By the time we meet him, we are way above his leagues. We feel like some outer being and Eredin is some lowly mortal.

I saw Returnal on the thumbnail so i clicked instantly. One of my top 5 games of all time it just hit at the perfect time for me.
I must say that miniboss was nothing to me at all but Ixion beat my ass so bad because of the flying bullethell, but I also gotta say Nemesis and Hyperion are so goated. This makes me want to beat the game again

The final “The Hateful” mini boss in God of War Ragnarok was crazy hard for me 😅 had to get a new gaming chair for it

To add on to Goro, Kintaro in MK2 I often felt was harder than Shao Kahn, at least in that game. Same with Moloch in Deadly Alliance.
Agreed! Mataro is harder than Shao Kahn in MK3 in my opinion as well. It's kind of a running theme with Mortal Kombat games I guess LoL

I recently played through Metroid Prime Echoes and I totally agree with you on those two. The Boost Guardian though was especially frustrating. Luckily I was playing on an emulator so there was quick save otherwise I don't know how I would have gotten through the game lol 😅😅😅

Definitely on Returnal, the one before the final boss gave me more trouble than all but maybe one of the full bosses.
I loved Returnal especially the floating platform boss its just a shame that we've had no big DLC and the final boss was a complete pushover
I want a sequel, fuck DLC. Shits usually just content cut from an incomplete launch. Would much rather get a full game day 1. Also, Tower of Sisyphus is much more substantial than you're giving it credit for, and was free.

Skyrim's Frost troll in high roughgar (yes, I spelled wrong because I don't remember the name) when you are in the first 5 to 10 level.. vs Alduin.. the final boss of the base game.

The Blitz from Devil May Cry 4 was harder than some bosses in the game. It moves fast, takes lots of damage, and hits hard.
I got to admit, my favorite weapon in Bloodborne is the Rakuyo, so the Sharks were totally worth it.
Malboro in most final fantasy, with Bad Breath, which can inflict so many status effects, which can literally lock you out of playing 😱
The Old Iron Kings crown In the Dark Souls 2 DLC Lud and Zallen were the bane of my existence especially treading through the frigid outskirts was just a chore on top. 2nd Croco fight in Super Mario RPG. If you haven't learned to not skip battles in a Square game and just rush through the levels, he will trounce you in the mole mines. What makes him more difficult than the final boss is that he takes your items away during battle, forcing you to limit those Geno boosts, and HP Rains.
For some me it was really easy but that was probably cause I over levelled

Halo Infinite, Silent Auditorium, that brute in the final boss fight was harder then the final boss, fast af and insane lunge
Super Castlevania gave me some serious stress as a kid lol. I didn't even know what stress was until that game. It was one of my first SNES games.
I remember giving up for a while on MP2 when it came to getting the boost ball. It just seemed absurdly difficult for a minor skill addon.
Honestly for my version of this list I would definitely put breath of the wild’s Lynels. Not only do they have a lot of health, they hit extremely hard, especially compared to most of the other bosses in the game. Thunderblight ganon may be annoying with its insane speed, but I have been one shoted by the lynels almost every time i approach one. Also they are most certainly a whole lot harder than the final boss if you beat the divine beasts, as well as compared to the other mini boss of the game, which is master kohga

Oh man. I remember killing Saturn frequently trying to get the hive rocket launcher. I think you could also one shot him if you're using a sniper build maya. Those were good times.

Sigurn isn't a mini boss, its a side boss that is arguably that hardest in the game
The freaking Draconic Tree Sentinel in front of Malekith's boss room in Elden Ring. I have died more times against that than I did Malenia, Placidusax, Godfrey, and the Elden Beast combined. I have only managed to beat it once and I was level 173 in the first journey in order to barely beat it.
I ended up running past him and never went back. He was to frustrating 😂

Demon of hatred was the only boss i ended up cheesing in the entire game

The problem with Demon of Hatred is that everyone treats it like it's a Bloodborne boss and tries to fight it like one. Wrong, it's not. He's probably my favourite boss fight in the game.
The dreamrunners in DmC: Devil May Cry. On lower difficulties they're hard enough at first. They portal away and they re-portal to a random location, they can block everything, they can counter most of your attacks, and there's basically only one way to get any hits on them, but they come alone, and once you get used to their attack pattern then they're manageable. On harder difficulties they are harder than the bosses. They come in pairs, they're faster, less predictable, and hit harder. They are the most memorably difficult enemies from that game, to me.
I platinumed that game, one of the only games I ever 100%ed as far as trophies, so I spent a good amount of time replaying it, and since it's been years that I've played it I forgot about most things in that game, I can barely remember the bosses, but I clearly remember those things. I remember getting stuck at one point for hours because there were multiple pairs of them in a level. You would finally beat one pair and then another pair would appear just around the corner. Mind you there are still other minions and mini bosses around too so it's not like you can focus your sole attention on them.

Not actually a mini boss, but anyone else remember getting their dragonborn butt handed to them the first time they met the frost troll on the way to the Greybeards? Even to this day I level up a bit prior to going up that mountain 😂😂
To be honest, mini bosses can quite fun, especially if you're on a even play field.

yes, quite tricky, but there are several ways to "cheese" that boss.
use weapons other than the sword, or simply DON'T LOCK ON.

The crucible knight in Farum Azula is not even a mini boss but I swear he's harder than his mini boss counterparts.
I beat malenia in Elden Ring and then got demolished by a rune bear seconds later

The Immortal One from Lost Odyssey. You had to fight through the entire arena game mode and complete every one with 3* to just get the chance to fight it, whereupon if you weren't near max level it was going to murder you relentlessly
The final boss in Horizon Zero Dawn wasn't that difficult. Yes, its guns hit like a truck and it has a ton of HP, but it only moves slowly, and the attack patterns are quite predictable.
I found the daemonic fireclaws that serve as minibosses in the expansion far hrder to fight.
They are virtually immune to elemental attacks, have a ton of HP, a wide range of ranged and mele attacks that hit like a freight train and they are fast and highly agressive.
In Destiny 2's Witch Queen expansion, I found Brutiks Lightbane to be a harder, or at least more frustrating, boss than the final boss fight against Savathun.
While she does have a mass of health and unleashes Supers at about the same frequency as she breaths, she isn't agressively chasing you around or swarming you with highly agressive mele minions like Brutiks does.
agreed on the horizon one... those fireclaws were scary... Still one of the hardest monsters to fight in Forbidden West. And even more annoying to grind
for me stalkers were always the hardest because they're fast and invisible unless you can predict where they are and blast their invisibility generator off of them. i can't remember which area it is but i know there's one where you have to fight 2 or 3 of them at a time and honestly screw that!
@@breensprout Never found stalkers to be hard, as long as you keep out of range of their tail swipe.
I could always see them quite easily, just watch for a distortion effect. Like a mirrage or flowing water.
Then hit them with some shock arrows.
@@Bird_Dog00 i could take them down pretty easily if i could get them from range but if they ever got close to me it seemed like it was so hard to get out of range again or hide again, and if there was more than one you could never take them out from range bc one of them would see you.
@@breensprout Regaining some distance once a machine has engaged in close quarter fighting is generaly difficult, as they seem to be programed to seek mele, even if they do have a ranged option.
I found that stalkers are easily confused if I have a high stealth rating.
Just moving in and out of various cover and concealment keeps them form crowdng me.
A tripcaster with shockwires helps a lot in keeping them at bay.

Star Wolf from Star Fox 64 was brutal.
The Crones are a pain. Also that Lich in the woods when you are looking for the armor and most likely you are like level 11
The spider guardian from metroid prime 2 is so, so, sooo hard. I could never best it. I had to have a friend do it for me. I don't think I could do it today either
The thunder dragon king ds3... made a man out of me
Then Mortal Kombat had the nerve to make the miniboss harder in the 2nd game with Kintaro, more health, faster speed. Then in part 3 Motaro had projectile immunity and teleportation added
The Travelers from God Of War 2018. I could clobber the bosses without much issue but the Travelers were a problem. Tons of health, very tough armor and those huge swords hit really hard.

Same as as MK, Kazuya from Tekken 3 was extremely difficult. I remember my brother and I trying dozens of times to defeat him, only to defeat the final boss in the first try
You mean Tekken 2? Did you fight Devil right after?
Kazuya wasn't in Tekken 3. It was Heihachi, Ogre and then True Ogre.
@@Gatorade69 sorry my mistake. It has to be Tekken 2 if he was not in 3. But yeah, you fight the Devil after you beat Kazuya which is much easier than Kazuya

Seeing the player using fire weapon against armor gave me cancer.
I honestly don't remember what build I used my last playthrough of bloodborne, but I know I waited until I'd finished all but the final boss and I'd finished every chalice dungeon before doing the DLC, and everything was super easy.
Bloodborne dlc isn't something to do late game if you want a challenge.
I'm kinda thinking Riddler from Arkham Knight. Not only do you have to solve 243 riddles around the entire open world map, but do puzzles like the dreaded last Riddler Race Track which is mostly down to luck. I fear the track more than anything when I play Arkham Knight as that's what I die multiple times on trying to complete. Oh and then once all thats completed you get to fight riddler with his robots that change colour so you can't touch them, it's even harder on New Game + Knightmare difficulty as the counter warning has been removed
i swear, the happiness you get after defeating all the valkyries is priceless

Lu Bu in the Dynasty Warriors games (specifically at Hu Lao Gate). Even on lower difficulties he has a massive health bar and can take you out in a few hits. Easier to run past him and take out the main boss.
Gotta agree about Dark Link in OoT, especially if you use the Master Sword, as the Biggoron Sword makes it easier as Dark Link can't jump onto the blade for a free hit, the two-handed sword deals more damage & has greater reach than the Megaton Hammer! Still, Dark Link is a lot harder than the Water Temple's actual boss Morpha! Also, I gotta agree that both the Boost & Spider Guardians in Metroid Prime 2 are a pain and, ironically, both grant Morph Ball upgrades upon being defeated!
in Ocarina Of Time, I ACCIDENTALLY beat Dark Link super easy. I was using the Megaton Hammer, and since Dark Link doesn't have it, he can't counter.
