    The light wash over the zenithal highlighting makes me wonder how easily it would be to highlight all the edges with a black and get the aforementioned "Borderlands" cell shading look.

    Fantastic. The Pinkerton's logo on flag is a neat touch. I hope that the miners know that the Pinkertons are probably there to spread dissent among the workers as usual.
    The combination of Wild West and Sci-Fi is really cool.

    The tank contains a highly corrosive acid. The pipes go down to each level of the mines where there is a spigot, attached to which is what Is essentially an acid fire extinguisher used for killing the giant spiders that occasionally find their way into the mines from connected cave systems.

    Fun fact: the banning of Kinder Surprise eggs stems from an old law from the FDA around what constitutes food and what doesn’t, back when fake milk was being sold and kids were dying from that. The law affects the Kinder Surprise eggs because the toys are encased inside the chocolate……
    Edit: nice build! It really was from scratch!

    • @dougsundseth6904
      @dougsundseth6904 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Mostly. The Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 (the act under which Kinder Eggs are banned in the US) is generally seen as the founding of the FDA. So the law caused the FDA rather than the FDA causing the law.
      I consider the banning of Kinder Eggs to be an overreaction, but the act itself makes sense if you see what was being done 115 years ago. (Sawdust to bulk out foods was the least of the problems.)

    Hey Boylei, I love your builds. I just wanted to point out that the Pinkertons actually still exist and have been somewhat recently hired by the company Blizzard to retrieve a box of magic cards that a card opening youtuber or twitch streamer got ahold of about a month before that set of cards were to be released which was Blizzards fault for sending it to him to begin with. It was a bizzar story but funny.

The company has continued to exist in various forms through to the present day, and is now a division of the Swedish security company Securitas AB, operating as Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations, Inc." What is this tank for? Well, back in the original Star Trek TV series, there were lots of items on the wall that the set builders referred to as "GNDNs". "Goes nowhere, does nothing". But it looked cool. If you look closely enough you can see they vacuum-formed common household gadgets and tools and bottles/spray bottles et cetera. I love the stuff you add onto your dioramas - it adds a great level of detail that allows the viewer to use their imagination to figure out what it is all for. Well done!

    I work at a museum in what used to be a mining town.
    We have a drum of what used to be sodium cyanide in one of the exhibits, since it could be used to dissolve precious metals. The idea was that the waste material could be dumped, and the dissolved metals could be extracted from the liquid later, using a separate process.
    So maybe that's what your vat of "mining liquid" is in this diorama.

    the tank itself could be filled with monster saliva from giant lizards or monster mountain goats. some of the monsters would have acidic glands, and that acid can help minera melt down rock and and other debree, because the metal in wild imaginary west can't be eaten by thsis acid, allow miners to quickly extract ore from rock. giving you a new profession. monster hunters but only monsters that offer usable things. i.e pelts and so on.

    Agreed that this is like a “Firefly” scene - another great video/build, thanks for making modeling fun! Don’t need a $100 kit to make something amazing, just a great imagination, love how you just built on the fly

    Awesome build! Great sense of humor as well. Haha. Cheers from a fellow 303 modeler.
