  • In this video you will see the removal of plastic body panels from this thriving and surviving 1987 Honda CRX. It's been 36 years since this car rolled off the factory floor in Japan and it's time to repair and repaint the plastic Bakelite body panel. You will see the removal of the panels, temporary installation of replacement panels, plus the repair process for the cracked and broken body panels. This is part 3 and shows some epoxy JB Weld Steel to rebuild rebuilding of broken panel parts, ten moving on to using Bondo brand body filler on the exterior of the panels to start the finishing process. This repair work is being done as it is virtually impossible to find panels on this unique survivor from the late 1980's. Stay tuned for part 4 which will show more the refinishing process of the exterior of the panels, plus getting the panels ready to paint back to original factory Honda Rio Red.

Ugh I’m going to try and save my passenger side fender, but my drivers side is missing pieces and fubar >.> wish I could find a spare somewhere but there cars are so rare.. I want to restore mine, show it the love it deserves after multiple problematic owners

These panels are one of the worse parts of owning these old cars. Once they start to crack, the integrity of the plastic becomes extremely fragile and even after a repair, they are likely to crack again. I'm trying hard to get mine back to looking new. Good luck with your CRX! J

@@Motorcycology I was thinking of trying some of the carbon fiber ones from medieval but I want to see them on a car first to ensure it doesn’t alter the look too much >.>

I may do the carbon fibre option some day as well as I don't have 💯 confidence the repaired fenders won't crack in a new spot . We will see.

Great video given these plastics all crack on 1g crx's. I upgraded to fiberglass door caps, sideskirts fenders and header panel but fitment is never as good as the originals, BTW as stated before if you want to work together on a project to replicate the 4 fender covers let me know, as im sure there is many of that would love the option to add stuff like that.

Do you mean , replicate those silver / grey fender covers? I'll be taking mine off soon and happy to send you one to replicate. I would have had them off a while ago,.but the doubleside tape used to hold them on is super hard to separate by just pulling off, so I'll use a thin sharp knife to separate them from the fenders. All you would need is one to replicate ...unless the rest fender flares at different...I'll confirm. J
