I honestly think some people hit the dislike button just for the hell of it because this is a great video and there is literally no reason to dislike it.
I think it's an awesome video and I hit the like button however I could see some people nitpicking and saying that it's not technically fiberglass because he didn't use fiberglass, he used felt or whatever it was and the resin...
David, you should do a series dedicated to dashes and doors, maybe even put up template plans? Do one for most popular muscle cars, as there isn’t a lot out there, for different designs
Love the technique, I'm already inspired for many projects that I could adapt this to. The fleece over multiple materials to tie them together is outstanding. Just in this video alone: MDF, Plastic, and Metal married by Fabric and Bondo! Brilliant! Especially stronger than vacum forming on a DIY level. Thanks for sharing.
Just want you to know that, by referencing this video along with the videos from another channel, I was able to successfully apply your process to my entire Chevy truck dash pad which was completely annihilated by the sun. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, your efforts are greatly appreciated!!!
I just stumbled upon this because I was curious what it would take to make one look really nice and I am impressed. Yeah takes a while and some care but that's why it looks like this and not like cardboard. Plus glad to see all the steps and the explanation.
if I had 3 thumbs you would get 3 of them up bro. nice work. very great camera focus detailed explanation and thanks for not putting loud annoying music like others lol. I subcribe👍👍👍
I did see that one as well. Thinking about doing a custom Engine Cover for an LS swap that I am doing on a Jeep. Since it is just a decorative piece, I am sure your method would be awesome for this. I like the idea of a felt first layer. Sweet!
It'll work for just about anything that isn't a structural part of the car....however I should point out that you should use fleece, and not felt....two very different fabrics and if you try to use felt you are going to be cursing at me haha
Love these car related videos! You should do more of them! I came here because of this video, but now I’m watching your armor videos. Very impressive work.. 🤤
I clicked the like button because I learned something. Ignore the people who clicked on the thumbs down icon. Those people don't know how to change a light bulb, but want you to do the job for free. Great video. I am working to restore 94 Astro Van with a really badly cracked dashboard from the south Florida sun. I bought the van new and plan to use at least one of the tips in your video production. Thanks very much for making the video and sharing your considerable experience.

That really is a great tutorial. I have never thought of using filler and resin together. I seen in other post you use Bondo brand filler. I can see you know what you are doing. But 3M makes several great body fillers like all the lite types they have finishes many times easier than Bondo brand. They don't leave air holes nor do they have hard spots. They sand like a dream. Just thought I'd pass it along. The price isn't much different as well. Thanks for such a good detailed video.
NICE results, If I change my 2..3 for a 302 this might be a good add on and needed Thanks for the showing and teaching.Like the explanation and lots of tips Sir great job
Excellent, and very informative. I have been considering this type of solution to my gauge placement issue. But by fabricating a new console insert, using the method you've outlined, I think I'll be OK. Thanks a lot! :)
You bet! I actually modified (heavily) a Mazda console for my '65 Impala using this method. Started some door panel parts from scratch too. It works very well for this stuff....but make sure you have the parts installed on the car BEFORE applying the resin. That way they are sure to fit when you put it back in the car. In this case, the dashboard was stiff enough that I didn't need to do that.By the way here's a pic of my Impala interior, all made with the same method, wrapped in leather'like vinyl (still not finished): i173.photobucket.com/albums/w41/lordguyton/in11111_zps3ade072d.jpg i173.photobucket.com/albums/w41/lordguyton/in2222222_zpse425ee15.jpg
Hi...I have watched two of your videos and let me tell you that it is amazing what you do. You make it seem so easy but I know if a try to do it, it's not going to be as nice as yours. Congrats!! And thanks for sharing!!!
turned out very nice man i am going to give this method a try since the dash in my old Chevy luv 4x4 has lots of cracking and i really dig this custom look :) thanks for uploading and putting the seed thought to fix mine this way
AWSOME thanks. I saw something with the mixture of bondo and fiberglass. I will be doing that on my fiberglass builds in the future. Man thanks for putting your work on youtube. You do great work!!!!!
All Good brother, I have messed with fiberglass projects for twenty years and never thought about mixing these two working materials. I wonder should I mix the hardeners slightly at first or do they react with each other quickly. I usually work in 90 plus degree temps here in louisiana.
You might want to experiment. I just add the amounts I think are about right and mix it up and go. I find that it cures slower than just Bondo, but faster than the resin alone.
All good Brother I will take it slow at first. I like to make things as perfect as the eye can see. My eyes are not like alot of folks out there. I see flaws in most things, and just have to fix it. Thanks for all your input with this topic.
A++++++Amazing video i have been wanting to redo my 1986 toyota pickup dash ( major cracks and fading) and add a tachometer and some extras like a skull emblem into the dash and your video has helped me alot i will have to post pics!!!
wow that is really amazing. it does take quite a bit of talent to be able to do what you did. I wouldnt wrap it in carbon fiber wrap. i think it looks incredible as it is.
I have an 92 s10 I'm putting a 350 small block chevy motor in. I believe I want do this to my dash of my truck. The only problem I see is that you can't drive at night since u won't be able to see your dash unless there are some gauges that don't need lights at night. But this is awesome!
this vedio inspired me. I'm going to do my 77 f100 cluster this way. seems to be a little work but at the end,it will pay off. Thanks for sharing the vedio.
Good video. Perfect composition. I can tell that you spend some time editing to keep the pace moving along, like a well cut movie. There are a few very popular channels (cough-"finne--- cough--fab---) where the pace is tortuously slow.
I honestly think some people hit the dislike button just for the hell of it because this is a great video and there is literally no reason to dislike it.
forreal, this is awesome
It's an Australian thumbs up
I think it's an awesome video and I hit the like button however I could see some people nitpicking and saying that it's not technically fiberglass because he didn't use fiberglass, he used felt or whatever it was and the resin...
For the MDF... I don’t care for that junk; use real, exposed, wood.
its probably the competition.
great vid mate! its a "dead" youtube vid but 6 years ago you understood the talking/doing ratio! Great work.

David Guyton can you build a 2007 Altima iPad mini radio dash for me? If so what does it require or take?
David Guyton Dude you have got some serious skill 👍
David Guyton hey
David Guyton how can I get one off these and how much

That resin bondo mix is genius, I’ve gotta try that on my motorcycle parts and truck parts and everything
This is one of the few videos on youtube that is actually worth the watch. there are so many shitty glassers out there
So clever nice job makes me feel like redoing my dashboard
The finished dash you showed looked good! but I would have liked to see it installed. Great video! thanks for sharing!

Thought it was going to come out bad but after the sanding and paint it looks great. I can only imagine how much better after the carbon fiber dip.
Nice looking dash and the Rondo is a great bonus tip!!! Thanks!!!
