012 Locknoob's Abona & Monith rakes by Multipick (Review)

  • In this episode I'll be reviewing Locknoob's Abona & Monith rakes by Multipick.
This review is not sponsored and I have no affiliation with Locknoob or Multipick, although I would certainly be open to future colaboration!
In his overview of the picks' design, Locknoob describes them as 'dynamic', arguing that the profiles of these tools are specifically designed to be able to defeat challenging bitting and security pins which would usually require single pin picking.
If you decide to pick up one or both of these rakes, you can find them on Multipick's online catalogue:
    Abona: shop.multipick...
    Monith: shop.multipick...

I successfully raked open a American lock 3200, using the Abona. I’ve been trying to open that lock for a very long time. I’m trying to work on my SPP skills. Anyway to have the lock open finally made my night. Great Rakes!

I'm glad to see you giving Ash's designs the exposure they deserve. It's wonderful to see locksporters revolutionizing pick design and this is an example that shows there's always room to improve our tools. Also kudos to Multipick for choosing to produce the Abona and Monith.

Ohhh, haven't seen those on Noob's channel yet, I'll have to check it out. I love his Monkey paw from sparrows. Multipick is always Gold but it also cost As MUCH as Gold, lol. BUT- since I like Noob= I'll have to buy these now. And since I have to pay for some lame shipping= I might as well get his version of the tube tensioner too. I really wish someone would make a normal Tube tensioner. That bar across is so NOT ideal. It gets in the way of the picking, it tensiones the lock evenly, instead of from one side, making the pins harder to set. All you'd have to do is investigate the width and depth of your average Tube lock and make a square that fits into it= just like the key that opens it has. Then you just hang a bar off to the right. When it's in situ or a vice, you simply apply pressure down like any other normal tension tool. You could even do it one handed if it's on a wall. The bar would be off to the right of the lock and out of your way, and you'd be applying pressure from the top of the lock instead of the middle which makes setting pins easier as the tension is more pronounced as it's only from one side, like how a BOK tool does. I plan on just making my own because no matter who I tell it to that this is how a Tube tensioner SHOULD be made= deaf ears. Also, since no one pays any respect to tubes, and they a cool, fun, and EVERYwhere, I think they should make a spinner for them. The biggest gripe from any picker is they have to pick it multiple times. Well, why not make a tool that once you pick the first set, you turn it just so it's picked but hasn't;'t fallen int othe next set of chambers, remove tensioner and insert Tube Spinner= viola= you don't have to pick it more than once. It would be almost the same design as a Plug spinner except smaller- and with a notch insert like a tube key would have. Not probably gonna make that as it would require enough work that I would feel compel to produce them so as to compensate for my time invested in it. Still, it's a tool just waiting to be made. Anywho, thanks for the video.

I own the set myself, as mentioned by fish picks, it is an acquired skill when raking and this is one that I myself do need to practice along with my single pin picking as I try to hone my skills to be able to pick even more challenging locks. They're a good addition to a set and would also recommend too! Perhaps that way I can offer advice that is more useful to you. I'd also recommend joining some of the Facebook forums if that is a platform you use - they will be able to offer some great advice.
