brief explanation as to why this wouldn't work for speedruns: the invisible ceiling unit there is just that. one unit. mario's speed is measured in units per frame; one unit is too small an area to build up any meaningful amount of speed; you would only be able to do one long jump, and then you would break out of it immediately because your speed was so high. i would recommend watching "units, speed, and sense of scale" by uncommentatedpannen if you want a better understanding of the topic. in the case of this video, the only reason he got so many jumps out of it is because he came in with very little horizontal speed, and the speed gained by a long jump is proportional to mario's current speed. as mario's speed was nearly zero, the speed gained was also nearly zero, which means a lot more potential jumps.
th-cam.com/video/YsXCVsDFiXA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IfpHiMSni9AZB8XS&t=4487 ((timestamp)) it's not the same wall, but you got an invisible wall there, blj off of them is usually much harder to do with human players since they need to press the a button every frame on (usually) 1x1 pixel invisible wall to build up enough speed to do anything, this is very inconsistent and hard to do, not to mention the amount of slops and angled floors cool cool mountain has that can allow for much easier and more consistent runs. so in ((speedruns as far as i know)) invisible wall BLJs are pretty much only done by TASs.

Cool to try this non-TAS, unfortunately this isn't new as ceiling BLJs are well understood and this invisible wall has been known for some time.
I was kinda TAS, my controller had a turbo button
This video is straight out of 2008
