Omg thank you so much!!!! I’ve been seaeching TH-cam up & down trying to find this. I ddnt know the exact terminology for what I was trying to learning but I figured it out & found your channel! 💚
This is a great question. There are a few ways you can do it. But the easiest is to draw your outline and then duplicate your outline layer and then hide it. Use the duplicate layer to drop in your colors, and add shadows and highlights! I will put together a video for this in the next few weeks if you like! Glad you have joined the digital drawing world… it is so much fun and really rewarding!
This was the video I've been looking for thank you Just a quick question ❓ What year of iPad are you using to create this So many iPads I'm not sure which one to buy
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found the video helpful 😊. To answer your question, I’m using a 2020 iPad Pro with the 1st generation Apple Pencil. It works really well for Procreate and is perfect for digital art! If you’re unsure which iPad to buy, I recommend looking for one that supports the Apple Pencil (1st or 2nd generation, depending on the model) and has enough storage for your projects. The iPad Pro models are great for creatives, but other models like the iPad Air are also excellent and more budget-friendly. Let me know if you need any more advice-I’d be happy to help!
@artsydee Thank you, much appreciated, I'm excited now as I have a new hobby. I've slowly started looking & purchasing supplies for the starter pack lol, I'm so new to this and have always wanted to learn, you're a great teacher and finding your channel has helped inspire me to get motivated to start. Thank you so much I will keep you posted x
Hi! Thanks for your message :) You can do this on your Samsung using an app like Krita, Art Rage, Ibis Paint or Clip Studie Paint. However, the app I am using in the video is Procreate which can only be used on an iPad.
I'm thinking of buying the iPad Pro 12.9. (6th Generation). I want to learn Procreate. Is the 128GB enough? Or, should I buy 256 GB ? 512 GB? (They're $200 difference) - Thank you for your help.
This really depends on what you would be using your iPad for overall. I have the 256GB and I just make sure to back up my important files to the cloud, and any images or artwork I don’t want to lose! I think 128GB is fine- especially if you are just starting out with Procreate. If you plan to create a lot of art work and dabble in animation, then go for a 256 GB. The iPad Pro 12.9 (6th gen) is gorgeous 😍
You can watch this brief tutorial I did on how to color in the lines th-cam.com/video/2hKWL1cVBy4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_iKy_bn5rVB1ESE_ . But I will also be doing a more indepth full realistic coloring tutorial in the next few weeks so stay tuned :)
If you are looking at creating large scale digital art, then I would definitely say the 12 inch iPad Pro is worth it. The larger screen just makes it more comfortable to work on! I use the 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro... haven't upgraded to the 2022 one because I may wait for the next model. I also have the 11inch Pro which I still love working with and is more travel-friendly! If you are starting out with digital art then you can't go wrong with the iPad Air (2022). Here is the iPad I use :) Hope this helps! iPad Pro 12inch 2021 >>> amzn.to/3UvHTD2
@@origaminoh8995 thank you so much! I’m so pleased you enjoy them… and let me know if there is anything specific you want to know about Procreate or Art x
If you just want to get started in digital art, you can try the ipad 9th, it's the cheapest you can find but more than enough if it's just for drawing as a hobby :) I have it and really like it!
Hi! You’re most probably tracing on the wrong layer. Make sure you have the correct layer selected! And also check that your opacity slider is all the way to the top.
Just got the new IPAD pro 2 4M and wanted to do exactly what your doing.. thanks for the tutorial! So easy

Hi! I currently am using the 13inch iPad Pro (2024) and the second gen apple pencil. Hope this helps!
Question from someone new to digital drawing…I see you make the outline in black. Do you hide the outline layer once it’s colored in?
