  • How To Cartoon Yourself in Procreate | Tips and Tricks (SIMPLE)
    #Tutorial #Procreate #Cartoon
In this video, we are going to learn how take image or photo and turn it into a cartoon using procreate. Throughout the video I will show you a few simple tips and tricks for sketching, drawing your line work, adding your color, adding shadows, adding textures and using reference layers. I hope this video can give you all some inspiration to these methods yourself and create your own cartoon in procreate.
Also be mindful that tracing someone else's artwork is technically stealing. I don't advise you do that unless you have full permission from the original creator to do so and if you do you MUST give that artist credit.
    Timeline
    00:00 - Intro
    00:10 - Create Artboard (1000px by 1000px)
    00:30 - Upload an Image
    01:00 - Turn down image opacity (35% - 50%)
02:00 - Apply your rough sketch (6b Sketch pencil)
04:00 - Outline your sketch (Ink outliner )
    05:25 - Use reference layers
    07:00 - Apply base color
    08:15 - Apply shadows
    09:30 - Apply highlights
    11:20 - Apply rim lighting

The piece came out so dope. Love ve the freestyle elements you added at the end. Would you consider making a video even if it is longer that is shows the steps you time lapse through. I watch a ton of Procreate tutorials and some of the most popular channels are offering simple and intermediate tutorials where they literally go step by step by step showing you and explaining how to use procreate's features and tools-- right on down to what brush size they to draw a line for explain--and by the time you finish you have a completed art piece to share online and your smarter about how to use procreate. please consider. ❤
You have some amazing art onnyour channel.

@@rebrandcreative thank you, it’s very kind of you to reply and offer to further share your knowledge. So far, I mostly have experience with photoshop elements and I only recently began experimenting with procreate. I guess you can say that I’m learning the basics of procreate, but I’m hoping that the similarities between the two will speed up the process. Your step by step instructions are very helpful in this process. I love your style and it’s very similar to what I envision some of my projects (your most recent upload in particular) so I’ll definitely be following your work. Like one of the other comments said. I think a good video would be brush sets and where and how to get them. I myself am totally new to Procreate and after watching your video that was the first thing that came to my mind. Where did he get those brushes and maybe how can you change those settings. At the moment I am a bit overwhelmed by all these options to be honest.

Great drawing - definitely a cartoony style. I like the minimalist nature of this. The only thing is - you made yourself look about 20 years older than the reference pic. First time watching any vid of yours and I've been watching a lot of procreate tuts lately. New to digital drawing, myself, so trying to see as many styles as I can and learn as many tips/tricks, etc. I have to disagree with you on part of your statement, personally. I love to recreate images that I see. And as long as I'm not selling them - I think it's perfectly fine to try to illustrate someone else's image. I'm not a fan of stealing anyone else's work for commercial gain, by any means. But there are sites that exist where people upload images FOR you to use for commercial purposes - whether for drawing, illustrating or anything else. And as long as you have permission to use someone else's image for whatever you're doing - there's absolutely nothing wrong with using images and photos that aren't yours. It doesn't make you less of an artist to do so and it doesn't make you more of an artist to not do so. You may not have an image or photo of the thing you want to illustrate and someone else may - if they don't mind you using their stuff - go ahead.

That’s great that you have your own personal intentions when it comes to art inspiration and reference drawing. I do believe finding inspiration or reference work to fuel creativity is a great thing but there are caveats to that if not handled properly.
It’s totally okay to disagree with what I’m saying and I’m well aware that there are sites you can be use as inspiration to create digital or even traditional work but the unfortunate truth is that some people do copy / steal / or neglect the idea of give the credit to the original creator. That’s just the reality of it. So, on my platform I try to give people the slightest inspiration to use your own source of photography for this particular tutorial, to avoid the middle man and it can potentially spare the headache in the long run.
Ive personally had someone monetize off of my work without me knowing or even giving me credit for my original work and I had to call the person out on that. I’ve also, mentioned in my video to make sure to get granted permission if you are going to use someone’s else work, which you’ve already mentioned in your response lol so some of ours ideas do align.
Ultimately I try to speak in generalities in my videos because everyone’s personal experiences and preferences aren’t the same. Of course we are entitled to our own opinions on this stance so my response isn’t to convince you to think otherwise but I will stand on what I’ve said due to my personal experience in digital space art.

I tried my first cartoon illustration from this video! And it didn’t turn out as bad but I definitely need more practice to get on your level! Thank you!! How long did it take for you get that good at cartoon on procreate if you don’t mind me asking? Watching the video about brushes next!

      Hey Jazzie
First off, thank you so much for watching this video, hopefully I was able to help you the best way I could. I’ve been a digital artist for about 6 year now and it took me a while to adapt to it coming from a more traditional background, so keep practicing and do worry about what it looks like now. The goal is repetition and getting the hang of the platform. I will definitely make more videos to help more in the near future.

    • @rebrandcreative
      @rebrandcreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The brush I used in this video is called the “sushi linear” this brush was given to me by friend a few years back. However, the studio & syrup brush are definitely my favorite alternative that I highly recommend for clean crisp outlines.
To access the blends modes all you have to do is press the “N” on the right side of the layer and you should see a drop menu with all the different blend mode options.
Hopefully this was helpful advice. Let me know if it works 🙏🏾👍🏾
