In today's Procreate tutorial I will show you how to cartoon yourself for your social media profile photo. This is a step by step tutorial that is easy for beginners to create their very own digital portrait. All you need is Procreate, an iPad and a little tracing ability to create your own unique instagram cartoon photo from a reference photo.

✨ HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE SHARP POINTS AT THE END OF YOUR LINES?:
The script brush is very pressure sensitive. So just press harder with a pen to achieve thicker strokes and press lighter to create the sharp points at the end. I go into more detail in this video if you are interested: th-cam.com/video/Zx26ECGC1-8/w-d-xo.html

currently learning procreate, and this makes me feel like at least 50% more at ease as someone picking up art/drawing as a whole without much prior knowledge. i've heard people go into detail about palette selection but seeing the (probably very common) way you picked the shadows and highlights was very insightful, along with using a reference image for the eye dropper. i'm sure this is basic stuff but you broke it down in a very digestible and far less daunting way. i'll be practicing this!

usually, I'd do the base skin color first. But for a project like this, doing the shadows before the base was really smart lol.
This video was awesome, you're super skilled. Art is really difficult but also rewarding and fun, I'd say tracing is probably the easiest way to make art, but it still takes a lot of talent to pull of something like that.
