“No vent hood in the kitchen?!” I love John’s home critiques. If he ever gets sick of being a youtuber I can see a career in interior design happening.
As a paranoid person who used to stay home alone a lot as a kid, this game put me SO on edge. DONT BE SO CLOSE TO THE WINDOWS 😭😭😭 Cool game! It did great in making me feel that anxiety I felt all the time when I was alone.
OMG yes!!! literally the same childhood you get so worried, like not to get near windows, or not to have your silhouette visible, make sure stuff like TV is on so it seems there are more people.... scary stuff as a kid! thankfully nothing bad has happened to me
the protagonist is so calm lol like just a slightly disappointed "dammit" when the whole power gets cut and "I don't remember that door being open" when seeing the front door WIDE OPEN WHILE HOME ALONE. Meanwhile myself and probably a lot of other people would've been freaking the hell out
@@olegsandratcvetochkov1623 Mhm!!! I would always try to leave a light on to pretend someone else was there with me and put chairs under the doorknobs to prevent anything bad happening!!! Nothing ever did but you can’t be too safe!!! 😂
If I was a game designer I would want John to play it just so I could get some good detailed feedback. I really do enjoy listening to the thoughts at the end of these videos
Honestly Johns thoughts at the end of his videos are amazing to me. I think it’s ruined my chances of ever liking any other let’s play channels again. All the other channel I’ve watched don’t have that and after just watching johns videos for so many years it’s weird to me not to have them.
I love when John plays home invasion horror. Maybe if he's still looking for ideas for WolfeWatch he could do a tier list/top ten of home invasion games or even movies?
Thank you everyone for participating in the password guessing game. I'm going to go ahead and reveal the answer now. S P O I L E R S It was "redmeansscary." Congrats if you got it right, it means you're an objectively better fan than the people who got it wrong. Just kidding, of course. Ha ha. - John
The count down was amazingly effective. Even I was getting anxious and was like John you need to hurry up!! It’s sad that the game ends there, because I do want to know what happens next!
Oh man, that countdown was terrifying! Highly effective, haha Also, this is why putting up curtains or blinds is one of the first things to do when moving in!! I need my privacy, nobody look at me, let me hermit in peace, haha
I'm just going to be honest, this demo was very bare bones and if it wasn't point and click then it would sink into the sea of horror games very quickly. However, I love when point and click is done correctly. This was done with thought and design and honestly that atmosphere when you finally get to look around after the movement animation felt genuinely scary. Audio design was also just right on point. I honestly feel pretty optimistic about this game.
Ngl I feel like this was kind of based off the recent popularity of Fears To Fathom, definitely feels like that with the food and the protagonist being a kid I think
@@Lucifronz Fair enough, everyone likes different things! I think, at the very least, the devs will make something good in the future even if it isn't this game
@@synthmalicious7541 That does seem possible. Hopefully they add even more originality to it in the full version. I feel at the very least this demo is a pretty solid base for them to build off of, just have to hope they do it right
I’m really impressed with the way this game used natural sounds to increase tension and uneasiness. When youre alone, small noises can be unsettling and my mind always goes to the darkest place, this game utilized that in such a smart way with point and click, almost like youre desperately dragging yourself from room to room with an ominous threat always present. Thats a cool demo thanks for playing it john
This game has so much potential, even to there are some "mistakes", the house looks great, the atmosphere is good, the count down made me ansious, Im really happy John liked it, and I hope the devs watch this before the release and take hos advices as an improvement for the game
Never knew I needed more point-clicker movement games like Dead Secret and At Dead of Night. Limiting movement can be good in games and it made for a good twist at the end of Airdorf’s Summer Night. A bit skeptical this game will have anything past hide-n-seek and key finding but I’d still be down for that countdown bit.
Wouldn't be lying if mentioned how I enjoyed John's assessment of the house decor and set up. This was fun! I am also excited to see this game! Thanks for playing!
Another game which had a similar click to move thing was At Dead of Night, which was really great at using the movement medium, good at setting up shots, while still being quick and fluid
I think the countdown sequence was awesome and really tense, and the point and click format helped add to the tension by feeling so slow, like you're not getting where you need to be fast enough. Also the sound design was great. 👍🏾
Short but sweet demo! I can foresee some good spooks with this style of game and the layout of the rooms, and the ending got to be pretty nerve-wracking! Bonus props for John liking the house design this time xD Him finding out all his clicks got reset and then his face when he heard the glass break were my favorite parts.
I think its neat! I like the point and click because in situations like that, i feel like if you're trying to do something quick, like with the timer going down, that the limited movement/pacing that it'd almost make me more nervous while playing lol. hope to see you play this when it comes out! :D
John, this is so random and you probably won't see this but you should play this liminal space horror game demo called Anemoiapolis. it is legitimately creepy
As someone who’s played Anemoiapolis (and thoroughly enjoyed it; I love replaying it cus I find it more relaxing than scary) and who has watched John for years, I honestly don’t think he’d be too fond of it at its current state; in terms of horror, it’s pretty lacking and empty outside of a certain level. I think he would find it boring rather than creepy, unfortunately :( but even so I’d also like to see him play it lmao
@@synarthrose you're probably right. I definitely find it relaxing too but also very creepy. It's a really poetic mix of the two that i don't think most people would understand or appreciate. at it's most basic, it's a walking simulator that isn't hit you over the head creepy and that probably doesn't really appeal to horror youtubers. i've seen him play a lot of random shit though😂 would be sick if he played it. also maybe it will be more appealing when the full game comes out.
im surprised by john being so nice about the house. windows were missing in the kitchen, 2 paintings next to eachother, 1 stretched jpg on the other painting, wallpaper in the bathroom, and more lol

This game looks really promising! It definitely has some things that could be improved on but it ended up being pretty creepy, and the countdown was real tense. The point and click style is cool too, and I think limiting movement like that can be used to great effect in horror games.
I thought the same thing with the locomotion when I played it. I wanted to move faster, but after hitting the countdown portion I realized why it worked and adding tension with that limitation in mind!
7:41 actually scared me XD Not the jumpscare noise but the feeling of dread as the power went out and it was pitch black. One time when I was a kid, my mom wasn't home, possibly going somewhere to pick up my sister because she wasn't there either. The guy who was babysitting me was outside in his car probably smoking, I'm not sure. It was night time and I was on the computer in our living room, watching youtube. Right as the video ended, the power went out and it was pitch black. I was absolutely terrified and I don't really remember what happened other than me feeling my way to the front door and going out to my babysitter's car.
Countdowns are so effective in horror games! A great example is that terrifying jump scare in Squirrel Stapler, especially when, in the final seconds, ominous music starts playing.
I most appreciate there being an in-game reason for why some parts of the house are decorated and others are completely bare. but even a newly moved-in house has some kind of window treatments
