it's crazy how a good sound design makes a horror game that much scarier in hindsight it should be very obvious but making a VERY loud noise does the trick in a better way I guess?
@nezuai I get your point but the thing is almost no horror game do this so even when is JUST a somewhat good/average sound desing with 3D feel it gets praise of how "different" it is
I love that John gives games a chance even if he’s not a fan in the beginning. You can tell he cares about what he does when he takes the time to go over what he liked and what could be worked on. He’s genuinely honest and isn’t trying to beat new game developers down.
Smart decision in hindsight as a bunch of police were waiting just outside lol like, how would you explain that? "Oh no I accidentally grabbed a load of cash from the safe, officers." Lol But with that in mind, it would be interesting to have a prompt to take it or not and kinda change the ending, adding a sentence or two 🤔
Can't fault John there, I also got really frustrated at the hanging scissors for a good minute until finally seeing the shadows. Hard to fault the game too as the shadows are good game design and I assume the tank controls are there to purposely make it harder otherwise it'd be to easy to escape and avoid the snipper, which by the way sounds like a 60's circumcision themed Batman villian.

Here some horror games John should definitely tries! : - Dead Seater by Zeekerss (Surprisingly good and free to play) - Nightmare of Decay by Checkmaty (A RE7 indie game alike, cheap and really good with a bunch of easter eggs and recalls from games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dead Space and others) - No one lives under the lighthouse by Sowoke Entertainment Bureau (Short Lovecraftian horror game set up on an island with you playing as a Lighthouse keeper) - The Heilwald Loophole by Jan Malitschek - Mundaun by Hidden Fields (Hand-penciled horror game in 1st person, still surprised he hasn't played it yet) - Immortal Mantis by Bitlife (Short 2d gameboy bit alike game,not as good as the others but still nice imo) - It Steals by Zeekerss ( a 1st person arcade horror game/pac-man alike,with different monsters and fun to play) - The horror of Salazar House by Maldo19 (Cool Retro/Pixelled Horror game) Except for Mundaun,all of these are *short* to play and cheap on steam store.

I think John didn't realise that everytime the VHS Filter got stronger, the Killer gets closer. This way you can easily avoid him. After the VHS Filter the Snipping Sound starts. But anyway great Video, highly enjoyed it.

Love the video! The game itself seems decent, a little silly with some things (the burglars robbing a POST OFFICE so they can smoke weed lmao) and following the Puppet Combo style a little close, but not bad and a lot of the ideas were fun (the backstory with the killer was fun, the hanging scissors with the shadows was interesting, there was something to do [solving puzzles] other than run and hide from the killer). But my favorite part was definitely John's commentary, him making fun of the protagonist was the best part - the run/speed walk, the questionable flavor text, and doing the "what is it, boy??" bit lol. I like how he phrased his review at the end, pointing out the very strong Puppet Combo vibes and how Chilla's Art also started off like that and then diverged and developed their own style. It feels like a very honest and fair assessment without being mean, actually being genuinely encouraging! John's the only gaming TH-camr I watch, he's a good mix of funny, chill, and thoughtful/analytical.

On November 30, 2020, I almost lost my life due to three brain aneurysms. One ruptured, causing a subarachnoid hemorrhage (aka a stroke). After that one was treated, I had another close call because of a clip complication while attempting to treat the remaining two aneurysms. It's been a ROUGH road and I'm still not where I'd like to be but I'm alive at least. One part that hurts more than anything is that I lost so much of my personality that I don't even know who I am anymore... but, when I watch you, I'm taken back! Not so much. Watching videos of urban explorers roaming around abandoned buildings. You see stuff like that all the time. It's quite baffling but not unbelievable. Hospitals, Prisons, Asylums. there is usually a few files on old patients and staff just sitting around.
