The funny thing about that maintenance guy's whole speech about "some fires are meant to burn" is the fact that he's right. There's a couple things I thought you'd like to have been made aware of. Firstly, you managed to escape the cultist without having to hide the second time. Normally you're meant to hide in the porta potty when he chases you down the tower, then he'll go look for you in the shed, and you use that as an opportunity to make a break for it the other direction. You managed to somehow reach the escape before he caught up to you, like he was supposed to. Secondly, there actually IS technically a wrong direction to go when you're escaping from the cultist. If you head down the Lacey Trail, the direction you went to check the first campsite, a BUNCH of cultists emerge from the woods and surround you before killing you.
He actually escaped because he went too fast. I think he hit the second trigger zone before dying as he was supposed to. He got this speed because he was moving diagonally with w and d, or w and a keys; IGP actually mentions it earlier in the video. Its a common glitch and used a lot in speedruns of games. CSGO movement players actually use this in kz maps as well to get more speed before a jump.
@@thatothertrashcan I knew that he had reached the escape trigger, but I figured it was that the cultist had somehow gotten stuck or simply didn't catch him in time(which seemed possible since it's kind of a newer game so exploits and little unintended stuff like that are found pretty regularly). He had heavy clothing on and what I assume is something covering his face. Anyways, if he was crazy enough to be terrorizing some poor guy at a fire watch he was either insane or intoxicated both of which lessen the effectiveness of less lethals. It’s the same efficacy as using it against bears. Sure, bear spray will stop a curious or agitated bear, but if that bear is determined to attack you, bear spray isn’t going to stop it.

After watching the first 3 videos I'm willing to say that this is one of the scariest games I've ever seen and the fact that these are based on real stories just adds to the mysterious/horrifying nature of it.
I think Mitch and the other tower watchers are the cult members. They kill annoying campers because they feel that the campers are disrespecting the woods and nature. Silas was a tower watcher but connor lied about not knowing who he was. Love this game
Your theory is so far fetched Connor wasn’t even aware of a guy named “ Silas “ if you watched when IGP used the binoculars, that was Silas walking thru the forest he wore the same exact outfit when he was downstairs and I don’t believe Mitch and the others are the cult members.
Funny enough I used to do seasonal fire watch in Oregon, just outside the town of Roseburg! Although I can safely say only strange thing that really happened was the occasional lost hiker or methhead.
@@RealElequist the game yes, and Washington does have a Roseburg. I was just pointing out the similarities. Honestly Roseburg Washington and Oregon are only about 4 hours apart
Im sure you’ve heard of this game IGP, but this chapter reminds me of the game “Do You Copy?” If you haven’t seen the game, it’s a game where your a guy in a state park where you have to help a person to get to you or to the other tower while the goat-man haunts the forest.
For those who want to know the lofi-like song in the beginning at 1:14, it's called "Distant" by Neb. I really love the beat of the song and I wanted to find out what it was called lmao
When you got out of the RV and walked around to talk to the guy eating the burger outside, I have not laughed that hard in a WHILE when I saw him literally face planting with the RV. Thank you for that, really. I needed a good laugh.
If you park the RV right by the gate instead of the parking area, for part of Billy's dialogue he will sometimes be standing in the RV, partly imbedded in it.
Fears to Fathom is one of the only games now that gets me paranoid, shakey like I am now, adrenaline pumpers through me, and gets me absolutely terrified. It's so scary because of how realistic these things are, the music, and the setting of them is just terrifying. Love Fears to Fathom but i have yo wait at least a month before watching another one
The work people put into this game is grade A+++. If they had the money they could honestly go against big grade companies and probably do better. Also, IGP with the Chordosis game never gets old, I love seeing him in fear 😂😂. Puts a smile on my face when other grown men shit themselves in a horror game (not literally shit themselves LOL).
fun fact my family for about 40 years has done fire watch work for the state of washington. its actually where my grandmother spent alot of time in her younger years. apparently freaky shit happens in the woods in washing ALOT. now just imagine being fire watch in say the Appalachian mountains lol Skinwalkers galore.
That is a definite win in my books, these games are becoming so good that I could imagine them being best books. Take this for example: this could easily be bulked out into a book with a bit more added to the story itself. That’s the thing that I see in this games, they really are amazing
The fact that the ending picture taken not being mentioned at all shows how the game is still not exactly up there with Firewatch not to mention not being able to use a camera more or even be able to do anything with the pictures (it having an alternate ending or something) but regardless of that this is still a nice quaint game objectively
This is just like Firewatch, certain aspects are different but like, spotting the smoke and the other firewatch tower that you can never reach. So flipping similar!
for now (for me), i think you are the first youtuber to spot the cultist the most often especially before we actually encounter him. you're pretty good.
I have family who live in Castle Rock, Washington. My uncle owns about…12? Acres of land. He hunts on that land. It is bordered by logging land that was logged a while ago. So younger trees are going, but nothing in those lands but old logging trials. It is not extremely foreign to find weird shrines and such in those woods. My uncle has been hunting and found rock circles, deer skulls, smaller rodent skulls, etc. typically in clearings. Honestly, we’re not really sure where it all comes from. We just assume the KKK and make sure we’re always armed to the teeth when we’re on the trials. Just wanted to give my Pacific Northwest story and validate the very real possibility of finding cult shit in the woods.
Bro it ain’t the KKK up in the Upper NW lol prolly just some weird pagans or wiccans or some shit like that Hell the KKK’s membership is at an all time low they really aren’t around anywhere anymore, I’ve never seen one and don’t know anyone who has
As a resident of Washington State, I feel the need to verify that this is a great premise for a game set in Washington, but there are several plot holes that totally give it away. For example, the narrator said he was transferred from Iron Horse State Park, it was a 2 hour drive, and he stopped at a diner in or near Roseburg on the way. Roseburg is 3 hours from Iron Horse State Park *minimum* and the only fire lookout towers (even past towers) near Roseburg are 1) in National parks, not state parks, and 2) *between* Iron Horse and Roseburg, not past Roseburg on his way from Iron Horse. Also, camping permits aren't a thing for state parks in Washington, and if Billy is going to warn the player about bobcats, why wouldn't he also warn the player about coyotes, wolves, and cougars? We know from the technology and dialog that the game was set in the 1990s-2010s, and all these things were also true then. All the FtF games have plot holes like this. Several hours of homework "in the middle of summer" in game 1 with no explanation? A 14-year-old would be complaining about summer school to his two friends, who are apparently also have summer school, based on their texts, or at least bring it up. It's important to remember these games are based on SUBMITTED stories. Not necessarily true stories, and certainly not verified stories. Washington State forests are excellent settings for creepy cult stories as well as cryptid stories.
I liked to think its just a story but also thinking about all the areas which so much isolation for the communities themselves and how easy it is for them to dislike outsiders. Small towns scare me more than big cities.
I feel the opposite, I’ve seen enough videos of people just walking down the street getting murdered in cities that I would never want to live there. Nobody ever gets killed in broad daylight in a small town
@@sturm9087eh that doesn’t happen often, usually just in bad neighborhoods. I think it makes sense that more people would equal more chances of running into someone dangerous or crazy. But small towns can have darker things going on and kept secret. Tbh every place has a chance of danger and getting killed.
more people around=more dangerous it is. Sad reality. In city of millions, your likely hood getting killed is increased by thousands fold compared to place few thousands ppl. But yeah, some small towns can be almost cult like.

I've seen on another youtuber that plays Horror games, he played an old game DO YOU COPY... I don't know if you played it, but it so cool because it has multiple endings, you are a park ranger and you guide a lost hiker and is something supernatural in the park. And from what I understand there is a sequel to the game.. IT is so cool!
@@daniell5740 eh true crime stories prove otherwise lmao. Obviously some part of it can be true but exaggerated and added extra things in order to make a longer story and better horror game. There’s plenty of evidence of real cults, images and videos of weird af demonic stuff in forests found by TH-camrs who explore abandoned places or woods. Things like animals being decapitated, symbols drawn, etc. People who live in Oregon also confirmed that a lot of weird creepy stuff goes on in the forests and it’s known for it.

After watching the first 3 videos I'm willing to say that this is one of the scariest games I've ever seen and the fact that these are based on real stories just adds to the mysterious/horrifying nature of it.
If you liked this check out "Do you copy?". This episode was heavily influenced by it.
@@sethdaboss245 Oh thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
Sometimes the scariest thing is another human.
You seriously believe these stories are real? 🤦 Maybe parts of it, the rest is invented to make a good game story.
@@Offensive_Username I know that some parts are exaggerated but it's still something that could have happened.
Perfect time to watch IGP play a horror game
Agreed XD
at midnight as well
please tell igp to go back an try an hide in the outhouse an see if theres another ending
Especially this game
I got it good, almost 3 am, and its thundering here lol
My face when IGP mentioned Firewatch was priceless 😂
I absolutely love Firewatch. I sat playing it start to finish for like 7 hours lol
That hereditary clip was vile
Bruh
I think Mitch and the other tower watchers are the cult members. They kill annoying campers because they feel that the campers are disrespecting the woods and nature. Silas was a tower watcher but connor lied about not knowing who he was. Love this game
No.
Why is real life so damn boring?
Methheads, jeez...
@@lukelofquist3734 bro it’s Oregon, you cant sneeze without 3 methheads handing you napkins and 20 more trying to steal the copper in your walls.
Didn't one of the training vids say it was in Washington?
@@RealElequist the game yes, and Washington does have a Roseburg. I was just pointing out the similarities. Honestly Roseburg Washington and Oregon are only about 4 hours apart
Im sure you’ve heard of this game IGP, but this chapter reminds me of the game “Do You Copy?”
If you haven’t seen the game, it’s a game where your a guy in a state park where you have to help a person to get to you or to the other tower while the goat-man haunts the forest.
I love Fears to Fathom. Was so hoping you were gonna play this episode.
Didn’t even realize this was Fears to Fathom
Can we talk abt how instead of hiding in the porta potty when he had to run he instead abused the movement mechanic like a god and outran him

Hey IGP I’ve watched you videos since the isle and subnautica days, keep up the good work, love your vids! ❤
Hi spambot.
@@Offensive_Username buddy called me a spam bot for expressing my feelings about a TH-camr?
That is a definite win in my books, these games are becoming so good that I could imagine them being best books. Take this for example: this could easily be bulked out into a book with a bit more added to the story itself. That’s the thing that I see in this games, they really are amazing
10:51 that was some scream right there 😆
The fact that the ending picture taken not being mentioned at all shows how the game is still not exactly up there with Firewatch not to mention not being able to use a camera more or even be able to do anything with the pictures (it having an alternate ending or something) but regardless of that this is still a nice quaint game objectively
These episodes are always based off “true” stories from Reddit, so in the story I presume the photo just never amounted to anything substantial
Yes yes yes! Already saw 2 full playthroughs of other players, but this is what I was waiting for! Nothing beats Indy’s solo horror playthroughs!
This is just like Firewatch, certain aspects are different but like, spotting the smoke and the other firewatch tower that you can never reach. So flipping similar!
for now (for me), i think you are the first youtuber to spot the cultist the most often especially before we actually encounter him. you're pretty good.
23:20 you can hear the joy that Bob Ross brought to IGP, it's soo heartwarming ❤
A burger, a drink and large fries.... FOR FCKING 6 BUCKS HOLY SHT. Here and now that meal would cost me like 20 bucks

Bro it ain’t the KKK up in the Upper NW lol prolly just some weird pagans or wiccans or some shit like that
Hell the KKK’s membership is at an all time low they really aren’t around anywhere anymore, I’ve never seen one and don’t know anyone who has
As a resident of Washington State, I feel the need to verify that this is a great premise for a game set in Washington, but there are several plot holes that totally give it away.
Worry about blm over the kkk now a days
Absolutely feel the opposite. More people = more likely one of them is bad.

That game and its storyline was unbelievably good.
Hahaha, you are right: you are NOT cut out for that job! If we weren't sure from leaving your RV unsecure and pouring fuel all over your room, I knew for sure as you tossed the cup over the railing lol 😅

I just love that you do more of these longer videos. Personally i don't have the time to play a lot anymore, and i absolutely miss it. Not to mention that i wouldn't even find most of those gems... And honestly, your editing makes me qeustion almost every other youtuber out there. Combined with your authentic personality and your desire to give the viewers the best possible experience in every way possible, this makes for some shit that a lot of directors can only dream of.
Now i'm going to grab some popcorn and enjoy the madness.
Thanks dude.
Edit: Also thanks to all the devs that still make games with passion.
Edit2: wtf, i just had the hardest lauging fit since Gilbert Garfield. This dev is amazing! That's art!
Bruh. The sound the RV makes gave me such a ridiculous amount of anxiety in the first seconds. Sounds like a f*** off kind of monster growling
After the first minute: This seem eerily similar to the Goat Man thing, regarding its setting with the watch tower. I loved that game.
Fun fact: Plague (the game that you can play on the computet) is an actual game that was made by the devs of fears to fathom
Can never get enough of IGP's content. As many other comments say, I love the longer videos!
It cracks me up when you pick something up from the counter or the fridge and realize you don't need it and just throw it on the floor😅 moments later you walk thru and there's stuff scattered everywhere
IGP actually skipped the toilet hide LOL that's hilarious.
I love watching IGP playing this series. A long awesome video, this game is always a W and watching IGP do it is even better.
Cool! I watched Jacksepticeye play this, he is a big fan of the developer also. Always down to see your take on these short games though.
He's a big fan of the guy who did the fire safety brief too I heard.
The guy paid Jack to be in the game so I imagine he is a big fan.
I am amazed at the amount of interactivity and everything else programmed into this for a short story like that. Even all these little things like updating the ranger computer, the radio, the phone, eating the food, using the bathroom etc. A lot of what you can do here is like Far Cry 5 level of world building. They must reuse at least some of this for other episodes maybe.
I just finished my audition at the region choir. If I get 16th place or higher, I'll make it to the mixed choir. Wish me luck brothers!

What makes these stories scary is not whether or not it is true. It's the fact that they could be true.
I was going camping next week, thanks a lot IGP.
It's 2 AM, IGP uploads a new horror video and it's 1 hour long, I grab my sunflower seeds and drinks. This is an entire level of fun.
Also, you were proud that indeed, people would be drawn by the rumors instead of scared off. You were actively looking for ways to get closer to what you thought was a whistling serial killer!
The most realistic part of this video was the inconsistency with everyone's weather observations 👌
this one had so much atmosphere, my favorite one so far
They could add more TH-cams to narrate characters. It even looks like Jack bought the studios so he could have exclusivity on everything haha!
