THIS is the first generation of the 90s and 00s street weapon of choice, the DSM deluxe, the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. Maybe there's a Talon TSi or Laser in there, maybe there's a GS-T or two, but they're all powered by Mitsubishi's legendary and long-lived powerplant found in the Lancer Evolution: The turbocharged 4G63. This is the Evo you can afford, but can you deal with the owners and what they've done? - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
DSM - Doesn't Start? Marketplace.
😂
You are correct
Drag Sleeper Monster
Lmao
My very first weekend warrior was a 1g DSM. Absolutely loved it to death, the styling is just amazing. The cockpit style interiors of these 1st gens is still one of my favorite interiors ever. These days they're going up in price fast, but give or take 10 years ago they were still cheap. Unfortunately many of them live hard lives with improper maintenance and shitty ebay bolt-ons. Finding a genuinely nice, unmolested and well-maintained DSM is like trying to find someone who isn't high on drugs at Coachella
No lies detected.
Shame on you netgear for saying we don’t know what DSM stands for.
It’s Driven Sparsely Motors.
DSM=Diamond Star Motors
1:57 that thing is knocking like an angry neighbour
I owned a 1st gen GSX. Felt great to drive when the headers weren't glowing and the transmission wasn't a pile of scrap. im telling you dude this thing over all was a POS. also strange quirk the rear glass hatch weighs about 150lbs. nothing but a mistake to own. im so happy with my civic now
Great to see the 1g getting some love as a bought one recently and been having a blast with it
This car is what got me into jdm even though this wasn’t jdm lol. All I knew back then was that it was a mitsu. Step dad owned one and drag raced it and would always win and I was hooked from there. That being said I own a wrx 20 years later
That 92 GSX with Auto trans for 5k was a STEAL!!!! The Autos can put around 500hp to the ground without breaking.
Yea i was little jealous lol
I've been lookin at these a lot, so this is gonna be sick, so thanks for giving me something to watch while sick!
Bruh u sick?
Yeah, protip, don't eat 6 large bananas at work
@@CollectorCarFeed bruh I think he sick
@@ctrl-alt-bingoayoo what kinda bananas be getting you ill out here 🤨
This video made me realize that i can't remember the last time ive seen a perfectly working 1st or 2nd gen.
4G63 Running Good Like It Should Pull Up To The Strip Grillin Hondas Like I Wish It Would I Dont Dislike Em I Just Don't Drive Em...... You Had To Remind Me About That Song??
Diamond Star Motors all Civics stay behind 'em
I have never heard of this, thank you, what a banger.
with the boost full blast
all you see is the ass
of my talon
when them lights drop
i can’t be passed
oh god I remember that song! it was cring AF but that was still back in the day when honda's were jokes and you rarely found a fast non riced out one to go smoke the doors off of.
Knew a dude who had the Eagle Talon TSI version of the 1g DSM, lived out in the country and bone stock that thing was quick on backroads. Handled way better than you'd expect, always had a soft spot for them because of that but I know better than to actually own one lol.
Man I had a '92 GS that I delivered pizza in back in the day, copped it for $1500. Ran good for a while then after a year or so started completely falling apart. What a POS, I miss that car so much.
i mean i did drive the wheels off it but realistically that was the point of buying it if im honest
I can't wait for the 30 falling pipes. coming soon...
I miss dsm cars…. Me and my first wife were mad into them, then we split and I was able to buy a mustang again…..was going to buy an evo bc the new eclipses were whack and the old ones were just clapped out at that point and I wanted a newish car….then found a sick cougar xr7 then traded that on a 99 cobra……would love a cleanish project 2g but I know that’ll never happen😢
It's easier then you think, I found a 84k mile eclipse gst from texas for $800 needing about an hour of work. Just gotta drive for the deals and not be like "thats to far" or its needs interior work so its fucked etc. The white and black 1ga package they showed that needed work, that was a steal of a deal all day they were wrong on that one.
I just bought an Abarth for my first car, its a pos but I love it. Got it on Dougs & bids
Those are fun cars!
This is the best episode of all time
Don't Start Modding!! I've had MANY DSM's throughout life. By far my favorite car to work on. I miss my 1Gb.
lol… that was funny.
I appreciate yall using my 1G as the thumbnail🤙
My dad had a 91 eclipse gst and I want one so bad. Literally my dream car
had a 1g gsx with popups, got it for 3k. loved that car. weld the pedal assembly and upgrade tcase and you good til on small tire with 500hp far as breaking shit with 1gs. axles are pretty strong stock, use to launch the living shit out of it, its still driving around today military guy bought it. guy takes it to autox every month and drives it there. they are good if you maintain it.
Sad to see there aren’t any lasers or talons included
Subscribed so fast
I had a 91 GSX and it was my favorite car ever.
4:35 I might be wrong but I think those are gauges from Revlimiter. I have a set of his JNC gauges which are not... that, lol.
Dsm = Diamond star motors?
My 3sgt vr4 is my daily, my tsi is on jack stands.
Some people will spend good money on a well taken care of auto awd since it needs to be good to build for drag
These cars are an absolutely still a value to this date. What car can you think of that's original awd, barely 3000lbs, can be had either manual or auto, stout iron block, and high flowing heads? I'd love to pick everyone of these up.
I had a 2g spider gst that was unmolestered and it was a really good car.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse should be converted to mid/rear engine. It would be a great track car if it were.
gingum did that and it turned out to be a pretty sick build!
GSXs are honestly better in auto if you’re building a drag car - they are fast as fuck and handle more HP than the manual
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders! DSM!
The nicest ones where the they had a like fate of another color going along with the trim and pinstriping or whatever I think black had either a grayish or charcoal grey silver or whatever you want to call it or a goldish color on some
There is a reason the fastest 3000s are 4g63 swapped lol
Inch'Allah nobody ends up with a clapped dsm car
1:48 - Probably going to get “A JADA” die cast of this car someday…..
3:25 - This thing has got “THE DERP” stripe……
😂😂😂😂😂😂
9:45 - Well this is a “PARTS CAR” no cap……
12:04 - 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I got a 1g 92 4g63 NA eclipse that is somehow having just as much issues as my 420a 2g 99 eclipse. Still love them but hate how overpriced they have gotten
Those oem turbine wheels on the first gen are pure sexual intercourse.
I still get stiff when I see a Galant VR4 or a running Starion, Mitsubishi was so novel back then. Loved my 91 GSX but my money goes so much farther with pre-2001 Hondas.
Diamond Star Motors cuz my ex-friend wouldn’t stop calling his eagle talon a eclipse and wouldn’t go 5 minutes without talking about it
diamond star motors 👍
I've injoyed my tsi I bought the best parts money can buy and I still have more to do but man 30psi and good halltech fuel system surge tank and or keep tank full or booth don't cheap out it'll put smile on ur face scare any passenger so far knothing like ice skating on dry roads with complete control amazing how tires can be spinning and turn ur steering wheel car just goes eventually I'll be going natfab and some summer tires try get car to stick better 245/40r17 evo 8 pretty fun 3 years of smiling so far
USELESS COMMENT
I currently own a 91 GSX, most regrettable project car of all I've owned... I should have bought another integra 😅
I just bought a 92 Laser RS for 700cad and 74,000 on the odo,
Diamond star motors man

Bro that miata is 100% garfgarf there's no question about it
I have 3 1st gens and on my 3rd 2nd gen. Love them. I’ll probably drive them until my death.
Very well might be my death.

I'm too boomer brained to lnow what DSM means
$18,000 isn't that affordable
Best car is no car, just finished my sim setup
These guys have NO CLUE about DSMs. Automatics are most reliable and can take a punishment over the 5 speeds hence why most of the fast DSM guys are automatic even including my car 😉. Been into DSMs for over 20 years and currently still have 3 Talons and yes they run and drive. They are at this price because parts are hard to find now a days so if anyone that has these cars will hoard whatever they can get and save them for whenever you need them. The biggest problem is the younger generation are LAZY to turn a wrench, get their hands dirty, read, and learn about cars. So these cars get pulled apart and no one wants to put them back together the correct way which honestly isn't hard at all. Once you have a mint running DSM, keep up with the maintenance and depending on your desired power level, these things are animals. I love schooling the Gen Z kids and whipping their ass with a 25+year old 90s Shit Box and seeing their face when they ask "What kind of car is that?" Answer: Eagle Talon, "What the hell is that?" Me: 😁😂
DSM 4Life 💪🏻
If you fabricated the entire frame of your car you can call it a "build". If you had the engine rebuilt, no, thats is not a build. Its stock for Christ's sake.
