    This is my car and I'm sooooo happy to get it done! It is not a drag racer, this is going to be my track day car and maybe take it to some vintage races, so 250 smooth HP is just perfect. Brent did exactly what I asked for and I'm super happy!

    I've noticed with ECMlink the injector voltage data that is given on the injector build sheets doesn't work too well because of the injector drivers used. For example, if I used FIC injector data per volt for my 750cc, I would end up with a global scaled to roughly 550cc and as you can guess, in closed loop it goes EXTREMELY rich. So I end up scaling the injectors for 650 or so and bump the global deadtime up until I can get the fuel trims to stabilize at +/- 5% then I add that deadtime to the injector voltage offset tab in direct access and zero out the global deadtime in the fuel tab. The cool thing about ecmlink is you can drive around in closed loop while logging and when you're done, you can right click on your data log screen and choose to adjust the hz for maf or ve for SD table based on combined fuel trim. This really helps get that cruise dialed in, especially after dyno tuning in real world environments.

  • @schafer240
    @schafer240 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ive played with dsm link quite a bit and just a FYI with Dsm link, if you enter the injector voltages you leave the deadtime zero'd out. They both are the same thing but different ways to go about it.

Fuel is done AEM 400lph at 65psi . injectors are 1200cc. Just need a v-band down pipe that clears the alternator. I'm so close to driving it again! I just walked in the house from the garage working on it and I sit down and see this video. Rad!

      Dude I finished a similar build in my 2g just in time for the snow and I just sit in my garage and stare at it waiting for spring. I've never wanted winter to end so bad! on that V-band DP, you may wanna just buy flanges and fabricate it or have someone else fabricate it, the selection of parts from online outlets has drastically declined lately.

      @@mikescherrer4923 Man I know the feeling. That is exactly what happen to me when I first got this car. It was a long road from junk yard to complete and when I could finally drive it, It was too icy out. I wanted it to be cold so I could push the operating temp a little for more timing. I agree about DSM parts online. It's getting harder to find stuff. I've done all the fabricating on it so I'm not shy with a welder . My solution is to just wait until Tuesday and take it to work and bend it a few more degrees. Have someone else fab my car lmao yeah right. I can trust that I'll grind the welds and reweld it. Haha. I'm the guy they bring their stuff to.

    • @basedemt6608
      @basedemt6608 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely nowhere near 500awhp with a 16G at 20lbs. Maybe on Q16 fuel and the wastegate welded shut running 28-30lbs on a billet compressor you'd get mid 400's but that's at the absolute upper limit, and they don't live long at that power. At 20psi it was closer to 350-380awhp and that's being kinda generous.

    • @basedemt6608
      @basedemt6608 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikescherrer4923 Agreed. DSMs were basically untouchable by the Honda guys for like 20 years. Only thing that could keep up or give us issues was V8 guys when they started letting blown alcohol V8 dragsters into NOPI. Otherwise, DSM dominance all day. Lots of Honda guys that are AWD and fast now, owe their setups and technology to the fast AWD DSMs of yesteryear. Without us, they'd be FWD still and struggling.

    Happy New Year Brent, Thanks for telling people about the difference with the Fuel Injectors. I just Tuned a RB25 with some 1200cc Injectors the Owner had fitted Himself. I asked if they were High or Low impedance and He said He was pretty sure they were the ones that needed the resistor box that is mounted on the rear on the top of the valve covers. The way He answered the question the first thing I did was grab the Multimeter and checked the ohm reading of the new injectors. I had to make a dead end Plug the same as You have done on this Vehicle. Just doing that made the thing run 90% better and all i had to do was clean up the fuel map a little and turn down the boost control. He has fitted some very high quality parts but it does not have any safety systems in place, because it comes up on boost really fast. He is coming back in the New Year and I am fitting a Haltech Elite 2000 and electronic boost control. That way it can have all the safety parameters turned on to Help save the engine.
    He is a nice Guy, But He thinks with His old set up, if he just turns up the old manual boost controller the ECU will compensate for the extra boost. I showed Him on the dyno how easy it was for it to turn ugly by only upping the boost and nothing else. the color of His Face changed a lot and I only pulled it to 5500 rpm. It went super lean and started to spark knock. He said that He had been changing the boost by as much as 15-18 pounds when playing on the street. I have removed the manual boost controller and it is only on wastegate pressure until He comes back to get the new ECU and other things fitted.
    Thanks for all the Rad content over the last Year. I hope that 2023 is a Great year for You, Jamie and Your Boys. Cheers.

      @basedemt6608 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then you haven't been out much. DSMs are absolutely known for being bulletproof engine wise. Even the trolls favorite tagline of crankwalk was one model year, and a very minor % of a very certain type of engine. Which, fun bit of trivia, was actually much less. 2JZGTE engines and BMW I6 engines had a MUCH higher CW ratio of near 33-40% of all engines across multiple models and model years but no one remembers or gives them hell.
      Problem is DSMs were affordable, and could be made TEMPORARILY fast with bubblegum and duct tape. So everyone bought one for $600, put $1200 in half-ass mods on it, ran 11's, then the car blew up spectacularly because it wasn't maintained or properly prepared for that power level, or sold before that happened, and then it left the next guy stranded because it was abused.
      I have had almost 100 DSMs, and not a single one has left me stranded unless I cheaped out or tried to hack something together. These cars will punish the SHIT out of you if you cut corners on them. Anywhere. But proper maintenance, and proper upgrades following a common sense path, and it'll last longer than anything else not a V8 that has that power-per-cylinder ratio, including hondas. I've daily driven, and cross-country road tripped a 500awhp GSX, including a VERY spirited drive up and down the great smokey mountains that had the brakes smoking and fading, and car didn't so much as use a drop of oil, or an ounce of coolant. Never broke down either. Stock engine too btw. Got 30mpg as well. With an automatic transmission!
      So yeah. This isn't heresay, this is first hand experience. They are incredible cars, but are more of a test of the OWNER rather than the car. If the owner is not skilled enough...be ready for problems.

      Actually, I take it all back. DSMs suck, and no one should buy one. Please...please don't buy a DSM. Don't mod them, don't go anywhere near them. Everything that the "it's popular now" crowd touches goes to absolute shit...so yeah. Nope. OP is 100% right, avoid at all costs. Also, please assume every DSM is slow. Slow and unreliable. Bet lots of money that you're gonna win easily if one wants to race you. :D it'll turn out great!

    You can weld the wastegate shut on the stock 1G turbo it will make 21 or 22 lb and around 300 wheel I ran my old one g like that years ago for quite a while

      That's too much boost for the stock 14B turbo.....

      @legendary_perfomance ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boostjunkie2320 it's fine not like anybody cares about blowing up a 14b turbo 16 g's are cheap enough and will make an extra 75 horsepower

      I'm guessing these are watered down versions of the 4G63 in the evo's?

    • @legendary_perfomance
      @legendary_perfomance ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_Professor_Oak they're pretty much the same as evos one through three after that not much is compatible the newer evos motor fits in there 180° kind of like the b series to K series
