    0:56 watched a couple of videos and you're the first to use plumber's putty instead of silicon so I'm not sure what I should use now. How much does it matter? Would it be fine either way most likely?

    It's helpful to drill a spot for the clips so they don't turn when you tighten the screws, like he's shown.

    Great video production. You're one of the few plumbers who recommends sealant or plumber's silicone on the strainer tailpiece gasket. Good idea. Two things: 1) a common rookie mistake is to use a tapered nylon washer at the strainer-tailpiece; you correctly used a "top hat" gasket/washer but a newbee might miss that subtlety. 2) Most other plumbers use a nut that matches the treads for metal-on-metal or plastic-on-plastic connections; you used a plastic nut on the metal threads of the strainer. Seems they would expand-contract at different rates? The dishwasher connection came with the plastic nut pre-installed, which would've made this difficult.

    you are supposed to drill the new countertop out so the clips fit? never heard of that before. you're weakening the countertop. all you need to do is back the clip screws out so they grab the whole countertop.

    So if your sink isn't set up on saw horses, as in this video, you could cut a hole in the floor and stand on a ladder in the basement.

    • @TomM60

      And all the while drop the clips on the basement floor. What a lousy design.

    I have a great idea for the mounting bracket company , how about star heads instead of flat heads . Just would be easier when your stuffed under a dark sink . Anybody agree

    I love the way you pronounce faucet! I'm installing a sink with a Hudee ring, would I use plumbers putty around the rim on the sink side only, or both the sink side and the counter side? Or would I use plumbers putty at all, or rather an adhesive product? You made the plumbing seem very uncomplicated so thanks for that!. I just googled but couldn't find the answer; I assume "positive pitch" means a slight downward slope in the direction of the p trap(?), just logic and context. Thanks again for making the plumbing seem less intimidating.

    The clips are still driving me nuts. You aren't showing fully how the clips attach to the track. Views of your hand as you tighten are a waste.

    We're are the sinkets that hold the sinks in , ? I seen that you use clips in stead..

    • @glasshalfempty1984
      @glasshalfempty1984 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 years and no answer? Damn... You might have found an answer by now but this style of sink exclusively uses the type of clips in the video. There is no other mounting hardware for this type of drop in sink. The sinkets that you're referring to must be mounting hardware for a different style of sink.

    • @TomM60

      those clips are what came with our sink.

    • @TomM60

      @@glasshalfempty1984 Yes, the sinkets that he's talking about were designed by a real engineer. These clips were designed by a kid or a pygmy.

  • @glasshalfempty1984

    0:56 that absolutely is NOT typical. It's typically silicone. So I'm curious why you chose plumbers putty instead of silicone?

  • @davidrupp9233
    @davidrupp9233 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This style of clip is the worst fastener I have ever used! How the top part of the screw is supposed to stay in the channel I don't know as the expanded part of the screw that is supposed to be held by the channel is beveled and when tightened a little bit, they just pull out of the channel. Now my Tuscany sink channel may be out of spec, but I certainly prefer my old sink that used actual threaded screws into welded sink metal pieces instead of this very frustrating clip method. Does anyone who designs this stuff actual test it themselves??

    Do you guys purposefully leave out the way the clips are mounted into the u-track around the sink? I think you do this in hopes of amateurs giving up and calling a professional…. Haha I found a WOMAN (electrician not plumber) who FINALLY showed how they slide into the track! Your bull didn’t work!!!!
