    Nicely done Mo, ;-) but please everyone seal the inside edges of your laminate you've cut, it take very little moisture to get into that cut out for it to start expanding and pushing the top surface up and you'll end up with a ripple effect round the edges of your sink. Thanks for putting this up, love and gratitude dude x

    Good video! Have done a bunch of these; I usually, however, attach the entire faucet assembly first, (including supply lines), then drop in the sink. Since access from underneath is generally trickier then simply working on the unit upside-down on the counter.

    I was told that with laminate counters, it is safer to use a jig saw blade that cuts on the downward motion. Make sure the sink is not too big to drop into the space below the counter, had to switch to smaller one the last time.

    Do not use caulk to seal it. Instead use plumbers putty. Use it under the faucet and drain as well. It helps seal it better and keeps odors away from the top part.

    real world application: if you are not good enough to cut the hole to exact dimensions you may find the evil sink fasteners do not want to hold pressure and keep sliding backwards. at this point you need to phone a friend to hold pressure on the sink as u tighten them. when the pressure is released the tension from the sink should hold them in place. list of materials needed should be ammended to include a friend

    What caulks does Moen recommend?

    • @moenfaucets
      @moenfaucets  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Gregory. Moen does not suggest/recommend what type of sealant/caulk should be used with a sink installation. The material used for the counter top should be considered when selecting a sealant/caulk. This will ensure that there is no staining or color bleaching of the counter top due to the sealant/caulk used.

    I was going to buy a stainless steel moen sink, but it looked even cheaper than the generic home depot brand, so I bought that instead. After seeing the end of the video when the faucet is installed, either that sink is extremely flimsy, or the faucet is. Either way, not buying Moen for sink or faucet seems like the right thing to do.

      Hello Christian. Moen currently uses 3 different types of mounting hardware for our drop-in sinks. Our sinks with a "U" channel require a flat head screwdriver to tighten the mounting screws. Our sinks with the integrated rails require a phillips screw driver to tighten the mounting screws. Our new "Quick Mount" clamps require a 5/8" socket to tighten the mounting hardware.

  • @cha55am
    @cha55am 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The method suggested DOES NOT WORK on sinks with integrated rails. I think it would be quicker and more effective to simply embed the sink in silicone. The corners of the sink are nor supported by the rails, and may in fact be distorted by over tightening of the rails. The thickness of the work surface is probably a factor in this, but no optimum thickness is specified. A disaster I'm afraid.

    • @moenfaucets
      @moenfaucets  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Charles. The installation video showed a successful installation for sinks using the U Channel and the integrated rail system. Proper placement of the mounting clips and making sure the screws are not over-tightened will ensure a smooth, even installation. Counter-tops that are more than 1-1/8” thickness will require purchasing extended length clips and screws.

    Normally I don't like Moen; their products cheaply made and engineering is mediocre. I just installed a shower valve set. Really cheap. But I had no choice. Some idiot at Moen thinks single valve set-ups are the only option. The valves in these mono-units always fail, right after the warranty expires. Ditto for single handle sink units; the diverters are usually plastic and quick to fail. Intuitively ignorant; intellectually challenged.
    Functionality and longevity should never be compromised for what corporate is pushing. One valve for each supply line. Infinite blending with long life. Reject plastic anything.
    You can buy five Chinese knock-offs with comparable life for the cost of one Moen unit.
    The video is okay; too bad they couldn't speed it up a little so the detail could be completely lost.

    Kill the bass music. It's extremely annoying and distracting - enough loudness that it makes the vocals hard to comprehend and understand the speaker. THAT is the most important part - hearing the speaker in clean tone and volume. If music is desired, bring it to a whisper. That would be more professional, especially for a major company that wishes to please a listener of instruction on youtube.
