    Coming back to this video to say thanks Bill. I finally swapped over the mixer tap in my kitchen with the new tap i bought two years ago :) it was a real squeeze to get in there, they installed a sliding bin under the sink, but I knew what i was supposed to do and so managed to get it installed and working. It's really satisfying to DIY. Now I'm gonna have a go at my shower screen. It's not QUITE hall of shame, yet :)

    Love your work Bill. Filling the sink to compress the seal is a great tip.

    This is an excellent video! Thank you for explaining everything properly and not just assuming we know all the little things that for some (like me) aren't so obvious. Also your attention to make sure you actually show everything on camera (for example the back attachment brackets) even though it would have been that little bit of an extra pain for you is really appreciated! Thank you ❤️❤️

    I'm about to install a sink and panicked slightly as it didn't have double sided tape and I don't have any on hand but I do have some clear silicone. That trick with the water was awesome too because I was going to rig something up with some timber, nuts, washers and threaded rod to apply even pressure from the top. This just saved me some time and money. Cheers Bill!

    What if I need to redo the same sink? Contractor left a gap between sink and countertop. He struggled with sink clamps and says sealant is all it needs

    If you're replacing the sink, wouldn't it be easier to remove the mixer once the sink is out ?

    What's the best way to cut out the bench for the sink without making a mess?

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For laminate, either circular saw or jigsaw but they will both make a mess from the saw dust 👍👍👍

    The tape is single sided because its just a seal, it doesnt secure the sink, the brackets (or screws as you do it do that)

    Hi Bill, where do you get those tube spanners from, please? Great video. Thanks.

      Amazon sells them, not sure these are as long as Bill used, but they have ......General Tools 188 Shower Valve Wrench Set, 5-Piece - about fifteen bucks for a set.

      U shouldn’t need tube spanners for this job. Remove the sink with the tap in place. Then remove the tap. Then install the tap to sink before u fit the sink. Or even better, buy a brand new tap for around $50-$100. Re using the old tap is like buying a new car with second hand tyres lol

      You can get deep sockets almost everywhere probably be more useful unless your a plumber

  • @jayseabie215
    @jayseabie215 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why didn't you put the tap on the sink first before setting the new sink in. Would have been easier.
