    Very well done. I really appreciate the full explanations, including the "this is what you will end up with" type of summary at the end of each step. I can be overly anxious when trying something less familiar, and a more complete description helps alleviate that.

    Since the center of the cutout for the sink is just scrap, the easy way to hold it is to just screw a long piece of wood to the center. As long as the wood overlaps the edges of the cutout, it will hold the piece in place.

    I know this is an old video and the creator probably will not see this, but this is an exceptionally good vid. Other vids on the subject seem not to go into detail about where exactly to cut the hole.....which is the most important thing since if you mess that up, your entire project is in the trashcan. I appreciate the instructional quality of this video.

    I have a question about the loom, sorry did the sink thing years ago winging it. Just about to make a ~26" X 4' loom for the wife and I'm wondering how hard is it or can be pulling the rods out? I was thinking to leave the rods without a 90 degree bend in them so one could put a drill on the end and spin them while pulling...

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You won't need the bend. We have a couple of looms, some bent, some not. When I go to pull out the non-bent ones, if it is tough, I just put on gloves and can pull it out. Have fun!!

      @@DIYOnTheHouse - Thanks, needed to know before cutting. One of those measure 5 times things. I'm sure I measured and thought about installing my first sink more than 5 times before cutting into the counter.

    My countertop is granite and has rounded corners, is it easy to cut out those curved corners into 90 degree corners for newer quartz sinks?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need a angle grinder and a diamond blade. I will cut no problem, but the dust is bad. So it's good to have someone with a vacuum helping suck it up.

    • @DIYOnTheHouse

      If it's stainless steel I would use a grinder. I would trim the back side rather the front.

    What I learnt from this video is that in the USA their tape measures ONLY have inches on them, not inches and cm 😯😯 (from the UK)

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is true. I have to do mm to inch conversions on things all the time. Not a big deal though.

    • @Skashoon
      @Skashoon 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I prefer metric, too. Still searching for a reasonably priced metric tape measure. No need to go through all of the mental gymnastics when dividing fractions of an inch. Why we haven’t changed here in the states is ridiculous. Metric is so much easier.

    So you make sure the hole for the sink is 1/2 inch smaller? I have the same size sink. So if the sink is 22 inches wide cut the hole 21 1/2 inches...right?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      Check out the video at 2:15. It would be 1/2" in on all sides so 21". You need to measure in from the exterior (22x33) to keep the center true.
      Good job taking it on!

    I tried to use a battery operated oscillating saw… It wouldn’t cut through even the formika on top. I see that you have an electric one I’m assuming it’s much better!

    • @DIYOnTheHouse

      No, not on the sink. We just use kitchen and bath latex caulking.

  • @Greenfarmer25
    @Greenfarmer25 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why not do the cutting before the counter is installed?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      I weakens the top and could snap. If it's not bad to cut.

    • @Skashoon
      @Skashoon 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my case, being atop the cabinets is the easiest place to cut it and reduces the chances of error for me. I live in a tiny house, no shop, no level concrete to set up horses.
