I have to say, MK8 seems to should that leitmotif the loudest and the proudest out of all the Mario Kart title themes. The MK8 title theme up and says "Hey! This is the most important part of the song!" and then they play a second loop of it!
HOLY SHITTT WHEN I JUST REALIZED THAT THEY ALL USE THE LEITMOTIF- MIND ABSOLUTLEY BLOWN! MKWII LITERALLY BROUGHT CHILLS CAUSE IVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 13 YEARS AND NEVER NOTICED IT AT ALL
I actually really liked what they did with 64-7, because you can hear that it's based on the original, but just different enough to become its own thing. But 8 bringing it back to that original sound was amazing too. Super Circuit actually does use it too, but it's stylized much more differently that it's harder to hear it, but it's definitely the same theme.
I’m nostalgic for Mario Kart Wii and all, but honestly, Mario Kart 7 and 8 did it the best. 7 took the MK64’s version of the leitmotif and just made it slap hard. And 8 took the SNES leitmotif and was like “You know what, JAZZ”.
Apparently Japanese fusion music (which is what that is) is jazz plus rock combined, and has been associated with motor sport ever since formula 1 started airing over there, as it’s the style of the theme tune. Nice to know they incorporated it into the theme here
I can’t underestimate how it absolutely blew my mind when I realized that all used the same leitmotif if there’s one thing Nintendo never doesn’t put their all in it’s the music
aww, that’s so sweet leitmotifs are a great way of reinforcing nostalgia. Undertale uses a lot of leitmotifs in it’s music, which is likely what makes the game more memorable.

Funny how it's heard throughout the whole series except for super circuit
It's there too, just less obviously
It kinda of is in Super Circuit, it’s just the chord progression
It funny how Nintendo slip in bits of the title screen in the staff credits from double dash to mk8&8 deluxe to where it barely noticeable.
30 years of tribute to the game that started everything
Double Dash's title theme sounds like the tony hawk pro skater version of a Mario kart song
Seems like the entire comment section wants to play Mario kart together
that would be hella fun
Super Circuit uses the SMK theme in single pak multiplayer (multiplayer with one cartridge) as the main race theme
