- Man, this series has some bangers! Thank you to the Mario Kart community for making mods and music available for those of us without all the consoles.

I may have gotten it perfect, but I straight-up didn't know that Choco Mountain was also a battle theme. You learn something new every day, I guess.
It's also not obvious because when Block Fort reappeared for MKDS it used MKDS' battle theme not the it's remix of Choco Mountain
@@DittoGTI Exactly.
100/100
#30 is definitely the one that benefits the most from the timer going down and the music kicking in, let's admit
😋For real! So glad they kept the counting in all later iterations.
Man the saxophone solo in Dolphin shoals is so good
For real, though. That's why I didn't start at the beginning on that one.
the lick 🔥
98/100 only missed Big Blue and Lakeside Park because I mistook them for Mute City and Riverside Park respectively. I didn’t even know Lakeside’s theme was different from Riverside.
Perfectly understandable. The way I keep them straight is that Big Blue starts with stabbing brass, while Mute City has long, whining brass lines. Also, Riverside Park spends a while on the percussion beat and whistles before the synths come in. Lakeside has much more frenetic synths that come in a lot sooner.
But, I digress. Great job overall, though.
100/100, all my years playing this series went into good use :)
20:05 The fact you put Airship Fortress from Mario kart DS in 69Th just makes this video A whole lot better because Airship Fortress is (in my opinion) one of the BEST Mario kart tracks to ever exist.
Agreed. It's a crying shame it hasn't made it into the BCP yet. Here's hoping.

@bradybracken1282 ikr
89/100 The ones that I’m least familiar with, Super Circuit and MKTour, got me. You picked some bangers for this though, pretty much all my favorites were here, great stuff. Mario Kart really has come out with tons of incredible music over all its years.
Very fun, I love quizzes like this
As do I! That's why I made this. It's my longest heavily edited video, and I'm glad so many people seem to be enjoying it.😊
15:30
Top 5 theme (my personal favourite)
Who are you, Schafrillas Productions?😁
This was easy 100/100 since I have all the 9 mainline games from snes (SMK) until android/IOS (Tour)
A true connoisseur, I see. I considered throwing in a few more difficult ones, but didn't want to be too mean. For my experience, most people have only really played the one they grew up with and probably 8 Deluxe.
hey Mkgamer! nice seeing you here!
@@TheGrinningGamerSame With Me Only Played GCN and Wii Some Ds And deluxe
Same here, I even named all the tracks that use every song
Same
70/100 for me. There were some that I recognized the melodies to but not the actual names of the tracks, some that I confused for others, and some that I just outright had never heard. Cool quiz :)
Glad you enjoyed yourself. :)
89/100
I know every single song my brain just couldn't identify them fast enough, still happy with my score
10:01 WELCOME TO MARIO KART!!!
In all seriousness, this hit me in the nostalgia button SO MANY TIMES!! Mario Kart Wii was my very first video game, and enjoying a fun race with friends and/or family will never grow old! Thanks for the memories!!
Bro, same, actually! That's cool! Unironically, Mario Kart may be the game series with the most consistent banger OSTs.
@@TheGrinningGamer I honestly cannot argue against that!! Mario kart games always have banger osts!!
96/100, I somehow forgot sky garden and peaches gardens (got confused with D square from the DS) I always forget los angalis laps and I forgot Koopa beach existed.
Just wanted to note, it’s also DK snowboard cross and parinia plant pipeway for the UK and Koopa city for Japan. Overall brillant quiz
Thank you, kindly. I've considered making an alternative name version, for tracks like Alpine Pass, DK Snowboard Cross, etc. Then, I realized that could be seen as milking the same content twice. Even so, I feel bad about not including them.
I've got 96 too!! I somehow forgot Water Park bc it's so forgettable (I know this is just embarrassing)
It's weird bc now there is a whole separate track called piranha plant pipeway
@bradybracken1282 lol
100/100! Perfect score!
Also, when MK8’s Bowser’s Castle OST started to play, I literally started to my head like a rock star🤣
Awesome, dude! And, yeah. MK8 Bowser's Castle is the definition of a headbanger.
12:36 ANOTHER BANGER
(Try to debate me I dare you)
Debate you?! My brother in Christ! It is my number two of all time (behind Wii Rainbow Road)!
@ wii rainbow road is fire, definitely respect your opinion
72/100
I fell apart at some points and started missing everything, but i did pretty good.
It's incredible how when I saw the thumbnail I said I was going to get 90 of the 100 Mario Kart soundtracks right and this makes me feel good.
10:02 WELCOME TO MARIO KART
I was so confident up until the first Tour map and i got so upset
I didn't want to use too many, and I tried to pick the most popular ones. Sorry if they ruined your flow.😅
i lost at Yoshi desert from Mario Kart Super Circut 😭 great job at selecting the music! personally i think the 3DS character menu music is quite underrated, even if it's a remix of wii's
A good showing then. 👍 I've found 7's soundtrack to be a fascinating study. A bunch of songs use motifs from other games, a bunch are just weird, and the rest are bangers. Truly, one of the video game OSTs of all time.
11:28 MKDS Title Screen! I will always forever remember it
96/100
I missed:
Los Angeles Laps - couldn’t decide which city course it was.
Rock Rock Mountain - mistook it for London Loop.
Koopa Beach - mistook it for Choco Island.
Sky High Sundae - honestly had no idea what this one was, since it’s so forgettable to me.
90! As someone who has played Mario Kart for years I’m very happy :)
Starting us off easy with probably the most well known mario kart song I see
Indeed. Tried to toss a couple of the most well-known ones out there at the start. Hope you enjoyed it.
This vid is alternatively known as; 10 second snippets of 100 Mario Kart OSTs
Basically. That's what music trivia tends to be.
97.5 out of 100 for me, I missed Shy Guy Beach and GCN Bowser’s Castle because of brain fart, and with Urchin Underpass, I knew where it was from and it was Splatoon music but I forgot the name. Either way, great job making the video!
Yeah, I get those brain farts. I could listen to a playlist daily and then, when someone asks me the name point blank, suddenly everything locks up for a second.
89/100 only missed ones from games ive never played like super curcuit and double dash
Not bad, then. Tbh, I'm not a big fan of the gameplay on the GBA, but Super Circuit's OST slaps.
@@TheGrinningGamer I did know them when they had a mk8 rendation like cheeseland and sun set wilds but like yoshis desert Who?
For the pros, try doing it on 2x speed.
Half the time and double the intensity!
I like this idea. 😊
That's what I did and it's probably why I got some wrong that I really shouldn't have.
Couldn’t tally the scores just went straight up like that. But i definitely got a B- , was getting annoyed at my brain for not getting the names of the tracks in time, Overall great video 👍🏾
Fun fact about Toad's Factory: The music is actually glitched, and doesn't start where it's supposed to at the beginning of the race
Fascinating. I hadn't noticed in-game. It's a shame because the intro is hype.
@@TheGrinningGamer In-game, the music actually starts at the 0:07 mark of the OST
@@TheGrinningGamer Did you notice in game that lap 3's music skips the intro on most tracks? (The only exceptions are TF, SNES Ghost Valley 2, and N64 DK's Jungle Parkway)
it's not a glitch, that part only starts the loop when you jump out of the inside section. it's a very unique way for the music to work for mario kart
Mk7 has a seriously underrated soundtrack (RRM especially)
Amen! RRM is unironically my second favorite MK theme of all time.😊
26:02 how many timees did i heard this song in my life? i dont even know
We've all got THAT title theme that just punches our nostalgia, don't we? X)
Mario Kart 7 and Wii i ate my childhood 😭
99/100! I somehow forgot Dolphin Shoals lmao. Still happy with my score!
You should be. That's pretty darn impressive.
I forgot shroom ridge AND daisy Hills
99/100 - DK Summit is called DK's Snowboard Cross in my country.
I mean, as long as you knew which course it was, regional name differences are more than okay. I would have added all the alternate names, but I didn't want each entry to just be a wall of text.
97/100, missed Urchin Underpass (I don't like battle mode so that was bound to happen), choco island instead of donut plains and riverside park for lakeside park
Pretty good for someone that has only played mkwii, mk7 a bit and mk8dx
I'd say so. Several of the SNES themes sound similar, the GBA jungles are nearly identical, and not recognizing a specific battle theme makes sense.
I just challenged myself for fun and the only song I missed was Los Angeles Laps (this song is the hardest to recognize at all 😞)
So... I got 99/100
Only played the DS tho' but the others rely on watching walkthroughs 😅
That's honestly really impressive!
@@TheGrinningGamer Haha, thanks 🤭
100/100 but I had to think a bit for #4. Everything else I knew instantly.
100/100. #30 and #83 are timed perfectly with the beat drop
Huh. So there are!
10:01 Welcome to Mario Kart!
We instantly got coconut malled, nice
Figured I'd start off easy, so why not? 😁
I love mario kart music, its so good, 100/100, I love this idea of a video, other youtubers should try this
42/100
It really gets tough as you go along. I don't have a full experience in Mario Kart yet but for now I'll leave this for now and see if I do better in 1 year. I will put this video in my Watch Later so I won't forget.
I'm glad it's doing what I intended. I tried to put some really easy ones at the beginning and ramped it up as you go.
I was surprised to get 84/100. Nice list
Glad you enjoyed it. :D
100/100 knew em all with the first second of it playing
Ah. A man of culture.
Including the Mario Kart Wii music at 0:00, I got 93 correct answers.
The only incorrect answers were Ribbon Road, GCN Bowser's Castle, Daisy Circuit, Water Park, Squeaky Clean Sprint, and Excitebike Arena
Well done! I take it you spent a lot of time with Wii, specifically, considering your recognition of the Wii title hype video theme... thing.
@@TheGrinningGamerI love Mario Kart Wii
Edit 1: I even managed to get all 96 Stars on that game
A perfect 100 for me, of course I do play a LOT of Mario Kart, although, I would have preferred the difficulty to slowly go up as it goes. It seemed pretty random which songs you choose. A good measure of difficulty for this would be obscurity, for example, start with iconic songs like Maple Treeway or Waluigi Pinball, and even songs in 8 Deluxe. Then at the end, have songs like the Super Circuit title theme, Dk's Jungle Parkway, or even MKDS Mission theme. And I may be cruel, but maybe even have the last 2 be the beta version of Vanilla Lake's theme, and the unused Dokkan Course theme from MKDS. Just a thought, have a nice day😊
I tried to start with some easier ones and sort of get more obscure as I went, but I definitely could've given it more of a curve. In retrospect, SMK's title screen may have been placed a bit too early. I guess I thought it would be on the easier end, since it's the main theme of the whole series. I've considered making a sequel for hardcore players to really test their knowledge, but we'll have to see. Thanks for the feedback. :)
@@TheGrinningGamer I look forward to that, if you do make that, challenge accepted
4:59
You got this wrong, it's Boston Building 😂
Aw, shoot, man! You right! I need to fix that for the next one.😉
Lets go! 100%! Im not obsessed... I SWEAR!!!
I tell myself the same thing in the mirror every day... but I'm lying.
@@TheGrinningGamer I feel so ashamed. I should've missed at least 1, because you threw the most recent nitro from mk8 deluxe, but then I mistakened 3DS Music Park/Melody Motorway for Wii U's Electrodrome. Then, there was three others that I missed. 95/100 for me.
100/100 i’m obsessed
Same lol
98/100.
Didn't think of the title theme in time for DS, and I thought the Double Dash!! one was a battle course theme...
Was also stumped on Super Circuit courses like Yoshi Desert, Lakeside Park, and Cheese Land.
There's a lot I need to learn, especially since I didn't know that N64 Choco Mountain (which I almost called Moo Moo Farm) was a battle theme too. I only really played Wii, 8 Deluxe, and Tour. Trying to get back into SNES and into N64 and GBA.
Nah I really had to specify that my brain thought that 3 was "Mario Circuit 1, ez!"
ones i got wrong
- snes title theme (i never played smk)
- koopa beach (guessed choco island)
- gba title theme (i guessed like gcn credits or something lol)
- dude ribbon road sounds completely different from deluxe so i got that wrong too
- n64 battle theme (never played either)
- koopa troopa beach
- n64 bowsers castle
- gcn bowsers castle (guessed ds bowser castle lol)
- ds title screen (i think? i dont remember)
- ds battle theme
- 7 title theme
- wario shipyard
overall not horrible. great vid btw!
98/100 I mistook the lick from dolphin shoals to be part of the title screen theme from Mario Kart 8, I also messed up on Big Blue since it's so similar to Mute City
Fair. I've found it easy to tell them apart by how they start. Mute City starts with long, whining brass notes. Big Blue has it quick, stabbing trumpet notes at the start.
5:36 It brings me... Memories😢
It is a true nostalgia punch. 🥺
100/100. I somehow, despite not playing ALL the Mario Kart games, got a PERFECT score.
Remarkable!
@@TheGrinningGamer Thank you.
nice music to listen while I’m speedrunning minesweeper
also finally knew some of the tracks’ names so I can search for 30 min versions
Thid quiz really tested my knowledge
Awesome video! :D
Every single Mario kart song has that feeling in it that makes you know that it is a Mario song Mario Kart 8 especially!
Very much so, despite being from many different genres.
99/100 Messed up on the Title Screen from Super Circuit
To easy 10/10, don’t you dare do this again
I got around 10 wrong, some of them I was like, oh, that's right, and some I just didn't think too hard about it. I honestly have not played all the games, the only ones I've played were snes (well, not much, but I've played it), (+ booster course pass), and tour. I've played tour a lot more than any other game, in fact I started playing it before multiplayer was open to everyone (when it was gold pass exclusice), probably in 2019 - 2020, which means, I've listened to music from many many games in the series. I can also tell which songs came from what game based on how they sound, because they all have unique sounds. snes is 16-bit, n64 is early midi, gba is choptune / compressed audio, gcn is clear, but still kind of midi, wii sounds like it's live, but also not, ds is midi, 3ds is higher quality midi, 8 is live band, and tour is recorded midi (or just using the music from the original game / pre-8 remix). Of course these aren't accurate descriptions of what they actually sound like, I can't describe that. If you listen to all the music in every game, you'll understand what I'm saying.
Very much so. The whistles and early midi horns of Double Dash are very distinct from DS's hyper-compressed midi, etc. Lucky you played Tour, considering how many retros it has.
I got 97.5/100 (I'm only counting getting Lakeside Park wrong as half a point, because they're so similar). I also got Koopa Beach (said Choco Island) and Grumble Volcano (said Bowser's Castle) wrong
I suppose that's fair. I do hope if and when Lakeside gets remade, it'll have more of its own musical identity. It definitely has more urgency to it, compared to Riverside with its long percussion breaks.
81/100
I was not around for the older titles
For Baby Park, the battle arena Tilt-A-Kart actually shares the music, but the intro is different
True. There's also a bunch of extra cymbal crashes, too. I thought it was different enough to separate, despite having the same melody.
@@TheGrinningGamer The slightly different instrumentation could have been what was used if Baby Park were remade for 7
True. 7 sure loved it's heavy percussion and midi.@@pvzmariosonica8fan
7 wrong, 5 of them from Tour as i havent memorized them all yet. Also missed GBA title theme as I've never played it and Wario's Shipyard as the melody came too late for me (the song is forgettable anyway)
It's very odd, but unimpressive, yes.
Wdym Wario's shipyard has a forgettable theme? I think it's one of the best in the series
100/100 if you don't count that I knew Urchin Underpass as "Splatoon Stage" by the music. If not, 99/100.
I mean, you knew what it was from, so that's what really matters.
64/100 I should play mk64 some day
It's very interesting going back. It's not bad, but it's much more punishing, due to NPC rubber-banding.
Man super mario kart messing me up with that shot ive never even heared of tf is yoshis dessert
It's a pretty basic desert course, but the theme is pretty standout for those weird hoots.
97/100. I missed 2 of the tour tracks. Berlin and Sydney. Mistaked them for Vancouver and Singapore. I have a hard time remembering alot of the tour themes since ive only heard their 8 deluxe counterparts instead of the original compositions.
The other i missed was wild woods but i dont play that track much online nor have i heard its music in full, only spare parts of it when playing since everything is just so loud when it's so quiet for the music in the beginning.
Fair, fair. I really like Wild Woods' music personally, since it's the only Mario Kart theme in 5/4 time signature.
I got 95/100. I missed Berlin Byways, Sky-High Sundae, Amsterdam Drift, Super Circuit Title, and Snow Land
74/100 missed a lot of SNES and menu themes. I grew up with Wii and 8 so I was rusty on a couple 3DS ones as well.
Mario Kart Ultimate sounds a perfect name for Mario Kart 9
Agreed. That way they don't have to say for sure yes or no if Tour is considered "mainline."
how did young me liking mario somehow led me here
Regardless of how you got here, we're glad you came.😄
Everyone likes Mario
I wish n64 bowser castle was in booster course
For real. N64 is way under-represented, and its BC is really well-paced.
@@TheGrinningGamer Kalamari desert was there instead we got SNES Bowser castle 3
90/100, I haven't played Mario Kart 7 and Tour and I haven't played 8 Deluxe in 4 years so they were the ones I got wrong
It's okay. That's a very respectable number.
I only didn't know one and that was the theme for ds battle mode
99/100
The only one which tripped me up was the Battle Theme of MK64, I thought it was from MKDS. I never played 64 much and its battle mode even less so. Almost got an ace 😂
That’s fair. Some of the early battle themes tend to blend together.
89/100
Missed a few I’d never heard before
16:56
96/100. Forgot Amsterdam Drift, Squeaky Clean Sprint, Los Angeles Laps and Urchin Underpass
Understandable. Urchin is kind of an obscure battle course, and the other three are from Tour.
@@TheGrinningGamer Yeah lol, I’ve only played through the tour city tracks a couple times each, except for a notable few like Sydney Sprint
90/100, This was so fun that I kept track of how I did. I answered 6 of them completely wrong, and 4 of them I knew only the game, but not the theme.
I also made 4 other lighter mistakes that I don't consider to be wrong answers. I challenged myself to name all courses in songs that are used by multiple tracks. In only 3 of them I just missed additional courses that use the same music, but got the game and at least 1 course right. Finally, I got 1 Bowser's Castle of which I completely said the wrong game. Correct? Half-right? I still count it lol.
I'd say that's a solid showing over all.
I never played the Wario Shipyard music and I blanked out at the last couple.
89/100 bruh who remembers water park and daisy hills.
*sheepishly raises hand*
67/100, Super Circuit, DS, 7 and Tour really killed me, I don't play mario kart on handhelds
Understandable. I've only played them on emulators.
Musics I got wrong: none!
Pretty impressive, since I never played MK8.
Well done! I tried to pick the most memorable songs from each game with a couple oddballs thrown in.
91/100 i'll take it - i don't play battle mode a lot so those ones got me
That's fair. I've always been partial to the race over battle modes, as well.
95/100, i missed GBA menu theme, lakeside park, ribbon road, N64 battle and dolphin shoals
Considering ive never played mario kart SNES, GBA, GCN and tour id call that a major win
Indeed! Well done!
86/100 (I mistook Choco Mountain for Moo Moo Farm/Yoshi Valley, Sky Garden for GBA Rainbow Road, I didn’t recognize the menu theme for MK8, I didn’t recognize LA Laps, I didn’t recognize DS’s title theme, I mistook Berlin Byways for Electrodrome, I mistook Vanilla Lake for Donut Plains and Choco Island, I mistook Koopa Beach for Donut Plains, I didn’t recognize the title screen for Double Dash, I mistook Urchin Underpass for London Loop, I didn’t recognize Amsterdam Drift, I mistook Koopa Troopa Beach for Cheep Cheep Lagoon, I didn’t recognize Sweet Sweet Canyon, and I didn’t recognize Squeaky-Clean Sprint)

Geez, Louise! That's a lotta typing. A great score, overall, by the looks of things.
I only got 79/100, but I think this is a fantastic quiz!!!
Thanks so much! I tried to toss some softballs at the start and work my way toward more obscure ones. Sadly, I can't cram all the bangers into a list of 100, but I'm very happy with how it turned out.
I’ve only played wii ds 8 tour and super Mario kart so 64 super circuit and double dash got me struggling
Interesting jump from SNES to DS, there. Hope it was fun, regardless.
I had 96/100 on Rosalinas Iceworld and dolphinshoals i heart a part I didnt know about this soundtrack. On Wii I guessed online instead of menu and I said Tokio instead of Sydney. I am not so good in remembering all City soundtracks
I got 98/100. The only tracks I missed were Los Angeles Laps (I mistook it for another Tour track) and Grumble Volcano (I thought it was a desert track).
96/100
I mistook big blue for mute city, I said cheep cheep beach when I meant cheep cheep island
I thought Warios shipyard was that new track from tour Piranha Plant Pipeline, and I always get confused on vanilla Lake because I always think its Koopa Beach
other than those I kicked it out the ballpark with this quiz!
Nice! An easy way to keep Big Blue and Mute City separated in your brain is that Big Blue starts with those stabbing brass chords while Mute City kinda wails with its opening.
97/100
I though that Wii Rainbow road was GCN rainbow road, I thought vanilla lake was Koopa beach, and I had no idea that it was Wario’s shipyard
I was this close to removing the intro to Wii Rainbow Road and just starting with the descending melody line.
@@TheGrinningGamer that might’ve helped lol
That was the easiest for me
Got all of them,100%!
If you eventually do another one, you should put more obscure themes near the end, like for example:
GBA Ghost Data Trade
Wii MK Channel theme
DS Seq_Circuit1
GBA Single Pak race
Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline
SNES Vanilla Lake (Beta)
Wii Galaxy Colosseum
Most assuredly. If I make a second, it will certainly be more geared toward series vets.
100/100. At 2x speed.
Well, aren't you an overachiever. 😂
Bruh I confidently said ‘cheep cheep beach’ on peach beach/daisy cruiser
Yeah, a lot of the beach ones sound very similar.
63/100, though it's probably closer to 65/100 or 70/100 because I docked myself for knowing the track of some, but missing the name (like saying Koopa Troopa Beach instead of Koopa Beach for SNES).
That one in particular, I would excuse, if you knew it was from the SNES. I believe MKTour even refers to it as Koopa Troopa Beach, instead of its original name.
