The reason why it doesn't work when you try scanning an image from your phone is because your pointing a cheap sensor with a flashlight on it at a screen, which is literally just a ton of small lights. If it's still not clear, try pointing a camera at a screen. Same issue.

what about a belt? Instead of moving Mario over the codes, move the codes under Mario on a belt. With a long enough belt you could even automate starting/ending the game
You say that like you don't know that Lego Mario sees all... Like some how no matter who or what looks at him or how many he looks back at them all... This is easest seen when looking at him from behind a camre where you can easly see him looking both you and camre in the eys at the same time. The effect is very sutle and very unnatraul as nothing else does that.
The spinning one was the best but mario and peach were only spinning on the outer tiles so the others were redundant. You also probably created a combination bonus, with certain tiles on the spinning one, completely by accident.
I'd LOVE to see a sequel to this, but optimized as much as possible. I feel like the problems with the train and final one were obvious, but even the disc has a problem, and that's the over abundance of tiles. The figures are sitting in a stationary location, and the disc rotates around a fixed point. That means that while the center may have tiles, they'll never scan them because that part of the disc never travels underneath the figures. It would be cool to see the disc idea pushed to its absolute limits. For example, figuring out at what rate the tiles get scanned, offsetting the tiles near perfectly to get the maximum amount scanned per rotation (because otherwise some would be cut off and likely not scan), and figuring out which tile gives the most coins and filling the disc with just those. Also the start/stop being done manually really puts a dent into how many coins can be earned. Finding a way to do it semi-automatically or automatically would be INSANE. It's also worth looking at potential modifications for the disc setup itself. For example, putting those round inverted 2x2 pieces used for the train onto the bottom of the holder to keep it stable while still allowing it to glide across the tiled surface of the disc.
I figured out that if you use your fingernails to press the buttons on him, you can activate a costume if you press the right ones (the buttons are the thingys near his chest)
Still remember when this kind of legos came out, It blew up youtube Edit: i completly forgot when this came out Edit again: I can already feel like my notificacions are going to explode(not yet)
Please redo it and build it with less hindering tiles like the freezy guy and more enemy tiles with higher coin counts, I know it might be extremely painful to check every single one, but I kind of pleased with the content!
The reason why peach worked better when you moved her 1 stud in was because the rate of tiles per second decreases the closer you are to the middle of the wheel. My guess is that a lot of the tiles weren't able to be scanned because they were moving by too quickly, or that the sensor was only able to get a partial scan. In theory, you could use a high speed camera or something to time how many inputs per second can be scanned in perfect conditions, then build a wheel that move tiles at that rate. Alternatively, if you use a slider and crank mechanism, you can fine tune it using technic gear ratios instead of building a new wheel to tesslt different rates of tiles per second
Fun stuff, and that's a wild amount of tiles! If you do this again, an idea I had for how to keep Mario (and Peach) really close to the tiles: instead of having something hold Mario up by the feet, use poles in the hands to hold Mario in place with whatever you build and that eliminates the need to have any amount of plates beneath Mario's feet. You could also try attaching via the four studs on the head, but the characters are different heights and are probably heavy enough to fall off with only the clutch power of four studs.
It makes sense that the machine could score higher, it's moving pretty fast so I'd say equal speed to your hand at its slowest; and the spin is continuous rather than having to change directions. You could probably also conserve tiles by making a ring instead of a full circle, since the tiles in the middle will never be below the figure mount.
For the track idea, you don’t need the plates to hold the coins, they’re 2x2 and the “wood” from the tracks is 2x4 so just puf half on the “wood” and half sticking out because the gap between the “wood” is 2studd long
