Fun Fact: 8's Rainbow Road is literally Sunshine Airport 2. Like, if you listen closely enough it's just a jumbled up remix of Sunshine Airport with some added "Rainbow Road Flare" plus a few unique sections. I have no idea why these tracks are connected like that but it's pretty interesting.

10:40 Neat detail, actually, because both games were in-development at the same time, they influenced each other in a few ways! Rosalina being one of them- She was originally only as tall as Peach or Daisy, but the Mario Kart Wii team felt like they needed a girl character for the heavyweight class since it was entirely man when the game was in-development. So, they asked the Galaxy team to just make her like, really, comedically tall, and that's why Rosalina is canonically seven feet tall.
Happy to see Mario Kart experience some sort of online resurgence, from tournaments to the Booster Packs to this! Mario Kart 8's music is divine, I adore the adaptive nature of the tracks. Mount Wario and Dolphin Shoals are prime examples, but also that extra layer added when you're in First- all so good! Personally, my favorite in that context is Donut Plains 3, due to the additional whistles. Bowser's Castle also sounds slick with the extra drums. I'm curious about Banshee Boardwalk's music, though, it's the closest we have to an ambient track for a course and I'm wondering if they perhaps hid any secrets within all the spooky noises.

Just cruisin' and driftin' all around that track. BTW literally seconds before you mention maple treeway, I decided to eat a maple leaf creme cookie from the jar. Talk about coincidence
Another fun Mario Kart music fact that I learned recently: Paper Mario Sticker Star's battle theme is a remix of Ribbon Road from Super Circuit. I had never noticed it before, and it absolutely blew my mind when I found that out.
The amount of nostalgic Mario kart tunes in this video is taking me back to a time where I would play Mario kart ds multiplayer behind during class. Good times.
Mario Kart Super Circuit DOES actually feature the SMK title theme! It's literally a direct cover of the original theme too, and it plays as the race music during single-pak multiplayer races (where you can only select the first four SNES tracks and play as coloured Yoshis). It's a bit hard to find youtube uploads of this song, but a version remastered with the original sample sources is included in "Mario Kart: Super Circuit Remastered" (by The Brickster) at 1:06:43
Super Circuit is actually the only mainline Mario Kart that wasn't directly developed by Nintendo (only published), which you can tell from a lot of parts of the game (e.g having the exact same characters and items as 64, having very similar controls to Super, having all of Super's tracks as bonuses, etc), so you can still say that every mainline Mario Kart developed by Nintendo has Super's theme in its...theme.
Great video, the Bowser's Castle trivia blew my mind too! As for ideas for the series, Kirby is the king of leitmotifs so that could make for a meaty video.
I love your topics, humor, art, voice, editing, and just everything. This is one of my most favorite channels of 2022! (Found this channel in February)
The tunnel section of Super Bell Subway plays the Underground theme from the original Super Mario Bros in its bass line. Felt super smart when I noticed that.
If this is gonna be a series, then I’d love to see you do a video on Kirby music! Since it (especially in the newer games), makes tons of music callbacks. Things like how the Green Greens melody tends to make an appearance in the final boss themes, or how the motif from Kirby’s Triumphant Return appears at least once in each of the modern games, or just with how often old songs are remixed makes listening for musical secrets and references in Kirby really fun!

The 3 stars opening is so good and the fact that this game is so criminally overlooked means that not enough people know about it. Also super circuit has the best Bowser castle theme to this date. They really went like "let's make a song that slaps so hard that they HAVE to remix it for dream ice hockey in 2009".
I'm not sure if I ever will do Undertale/Deltarune, although I LOOOVEEE the music and the motifs / secrets.
