Just wanna say THANK YOU for this video. I just got a 2010 Element where a big chunk of the chrome was missing. I followed your instructions and now have a nice matte black wheel badge instead. Looks so much better. You rock sir!
That is nice. For mine I used a chrome paint pen and carefully painted the "H". I could have taped off around the H but I didn't need to by doing it slowly.
you helped me alot! I'm getting my 2012 Honda coupe restored with body work and paint job and noticed this same logo issue needs to be addressed too! thanks!
Thanks! I recently bought a used CR V and the logo is practically the other real imperfection about it. I’m tied between painting it by hand or buying a vinyl decal
This is nice! I like the flat black look but I am a perfectionist in restoring trim pieces back to factory specs. I would have probably popped it off and used liquid chrome for a more original look. I plan to do just that with my wife's Toyota emblem soon. But still... great job and it does look cool in black!
Who are these companies using as suppliers for the steering wheels? My Mazda 3 is doing the same thing, and I'm seeing comments in this thread that it's happening to a lot of vehicles. You would think they would use a better process for what a new car costs.
I'm using Testors model paint (Gloss Red) and a #0 modeling paintbrush. I might redo it with the red Plasti Dip spray since I'm buying some for the exterior emblems on my Element.
Or you can just buy a Honda emblem sticker online and stick it right over the old one. Did this for my Honda Pilot and it only took seconds and looks great!
Or buy the jdm emblem that sticks on over that from eBay and not ruin your steering wheel airbag in case you sell the car one day. Jdm badges look better too…
Great video….except where do you get a newspaper? It’s like someone said “to hold this in place just rip apart cardboard sleeves from cassette tape singles. Everyone has those lying around right?”
Guys seriously a brand new black steering wheel logo is cheaper and installs in minutes compared to this. Just plastic tool the logo off and glue on the new one. It's literally minutes.
The stock emblem is not glued on. I wouldn’t trust a stick on emblem to stay in place when the air bag blows up in your face at 200mph. But that’s just me.😎

Do you have to score the edges to get the excess off or does it naturally peel off right at the outside edge of the emblem
@@krisbaglio5146 You don’t have to score the edges.
If it's not coming off real good should I do another couple of passes or take it all off and start over
@@krisbaglio5146 If it’s not covering just apply more coats. If you don’t like it, you can always peel it off.
@@fixinit ya it wasn't tearing at the edges of the emblem like in the video...so I'm starting from scratch.

Our Element’s is rubbed off too. I’m trying this!

I just did this and i kept beeping my horn 😂😂 neighbors was looking at me crazy! Thank u so much this really worked 🤗
Wow. We have the "exact" same challenge going on in our 2008 Honda CRV EX-L. This looks like a pretty simple and effective fix. ☝🏾
The title of this video should be how to black out your honda emblem. This isn't "fixing" it. You're just covering it up.
well then what more do u want? why would u need to fix an emblem?
@@returnowto get the color back to normal you obviously clicked the video after seeing the title FIX
To properly fix it you would need a new steering wheel airbag module.
So what still looks great and he did a good job

Nice, was just about to rip and cut mine out. Thanks 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
I'd like to see it in red
Great, thank you!!!!
Thanks! I recently bought a used CR V and the logo is practically the other real imperfection about it. I’m tied between painting it by hand or buying a vinyl decal
I love when you beeped the horn! Made me smile. Can you paint over it with testers paint? I bought a bottle of red for my Mazda.
You can but it won’t be as easy. I would try using red duplicolor plus the duplicolor clear coat if you want it to look glossy.
@@fixinit thank you!! You’re video was super helpful. Appreciate you
I would definitely paint the red also
Thanks. Easiest cheapest way to make an Ugly steering wheel H look great again.
Looks really good!

Unfortunately you cant pop these emblems off because they have plastic rivets in the back. It would require taking the airbag off.
Yup but it’s not really hard to do. th-cam.com/video/6gCRmn1ELqE/w-d-xo.html
Came here to also say, the emblem doesn't pop off, unless the airbag goes off, and then it's just glued to the middle of two busted sides 😅
Now this is what I call a real DIY video brought to you by "Revlon" 🤣🤣🤣 great job bro🎯

Just found this video and great idea!! Im doing this!
So am i
Good video. Pros would remove the airbag for easier access. It's pretty easy actually.
Did that too. Check this out

Do they make gloss black?, that looks really good!

I did the whole air bag came out great thanks 😅
Great job. I may just do this on my 2012
Great job, have 2011honda pilot blk . Can you please do video on changing spark plugs and coil packs
I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for watching! 😎
Getting ready to do lower control arm. Watch your videos you make it look easy. Thanks
@@fixinit getting ready to do lower control arm. Your videos make it easy to work on. Thanks
Looks great. I already purchased the logo for my car so I'll just have my mechanic install it. If not then this will be my plan B 💕
I bought an emblem too for a future diy video. 😎
@@fixinit doing the emblem replacement looks like such a pain!!! Sigh
@@freedompioneer4311 Definitely a lot more involved than just Plasti Dipping it. 😀
i just used a black perm marker pen done the job
Just did this yesterday with regular paint. I should've used Plasti dip but it looks better either way
Just hit it with a little clear coat for a shinier look
@@freedompioneer4311 actually just redid it with plastidip, way happier with the results this time around. Cheers
This looks great
I'm going to go out and buy some of that and try it on my new car
It was black Matt or Gloss you use it on your steering wheel emblem ???
Looks good! My Dodge Ram emblem blinds me when the sun hits it, I need to do this
If you want something more durable just use vinyl wrap very small piece of it it'll blend and corporate perfectly just use a exacto knife.
can you use any color spray paint?
Yes. Any color plasti dip should work
Going to make my flaking Mitsubishi emblem Pink!! This tutorial was sooo helpful thanks!!
Love it can’t wait to start
will it still be fine without sanding?
Should be ok. I just sanded to smooth the surface so it’s all even.
Great job bro turned out great!! Thank you for this video😎👍👍
Awesome job 👍
Gosh...much better than removing the whole thing and changing a new plastic piece. Now look for chrome or black pen.
Thank you , exactly what I need
Can i use this DIY on my Mazda 3?
Yup
@@fixinit Thanks a lot. Let me try this
Great job, thinking outside the box
Looks good
Great option
What instrument cluster do you have?
Great option! Thanks
Looks good ,doing mine thanks for video
Awesome!!!
Thanks! Great idea!

Mine’s in great condition. I just want to black it out to reduce glare.
What if I dont have the sand paper and I gotta remove the chrome thing?
You don’t really have to sand it. Just spray it.
@@fixinit so it will remove the chrome?
When are you coming out with a video about how to replace the emblem instead?
It should be out this weekend. Thanks for checking in! 😎
What kind of paint you used? Why it didn't stuck to the steering wheel?
It’s called PLASTI DIP. It’s a rubber coating. Not paint.
@@fixinit do they make a chrome color?
@@michaelhuppman8340 they make a bunch of different colors. Not sure about chrome though.
Where can i buy spray paint?
Link in the video description
Thank you!!
Best idea
I do think it looks better black
Or buy the jdm emblem that sticks on over that from eBay and not ruin your steering wheel airbag in case you sell the car one day. Jdm badges look better too…
Until you get in an accident and it turns into shrapnel
Great video….except where do you get a newspaper? It’s like someone said “to hold this in place just rip apart cardboard sleeves from cassette tape singles. Everyone has those lying around right?”
Not bad 👍👍
Another way to fix it is to sand off loose paint and use a silver metallic Sharpie.
How long in between coats
15 minutes
Looking good!
Mine has this kind of cancer too
why not just tape in flush to the logo instead of peeling it off from the steering at the end?
VERY INVENTIVE
I’d still prefer that shiny silver look but whatever

gah fuck it, i think silver sharpie will do the trick
Did it work?
Dang! How often do you use your horn 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
😂
This is not a fix. It came out way different than before.
I’m assuming this won’t work with regular spray paint?
You won’t be able to peel off the excess.
Or just take the emblem out. If it breaks off pay $20 for a new one.
use the horn much?
If you want silver show me how that's done.
Why not just replace the emblem. Wayy to much work involved doing it the way you did lol

Way better than emblem replacement, Hondas are such cheap garbage 🗑 How does this even happen to an emblem you'd never have this issue with a BMW
What are you on about fam?
The only issue with the bmw is everything else
WTF?!!! It doesn't look the same, 😄
