Having kids is bad enough. Not just for aspies but anyone, you are trapping souls in the simulation assuming aspies have souls and aren't NPCs.

And you are free to do so. Thinking about these is extremely negative, and worrysome.
It's a reality, but now we know there are concrete factors and causes, the situation can only get better, because most can be avoided with better acceptance

First, this is a great and Thomas was a fantastic guest who I didn't know about but will follow. Second, there are many co-morbidities that also impact our life span. Early last year I did a video on life expectancy but I decided that a message to focus on life quality of each day needed to be a focal point. That even if all we can do is stand where we are on a given day is still big because we got a day so many didn't. I live in America and so many studies don't separate autistics and aspies enough in my honest opinion. I've begun conversing with Dr. Ian Hale PhD in the UK about this. He has a brilliant mind and the conversations are great. Apologies for being so wordy.

I'm a 67 year old male. If you can get pass a few considering suicide events life can get pretty great. Mine happened at age 10 and 28. Both were me getting thru something I thought was unfair. Both I stopped just short and then laughed about it. I knew it was dump and thought it funny my brain would go there. Accepting "This is how I am." was key for me. Takes time of course to deal with that, but slowly the more I do the happier I am.
For example 5 years ago I allowed myself to be a hermit for 1 year. I always kind of wanted to be a hermit, but many people say that bad for a person. But I learned about the Keto diet and that people don't need carbs. People with diabetes would stop health damage by just not eating carbs. It made me think about interacting with people and how I don't really like it 95% of the time. Seemed to me my interactions was causing the stress. So I tried being a hermit. Love it. Been 5 years and not a single meltdown. I seem happy.
I'm very healthy. There are things a person just has to do. But at 67 I have to prepare for extreme old age. So my plan is to sell my house and move to SE Asia in 2025. I will have $600k and $6000/mo income which is very high for SE Asia. I can afford a live-in housekeeper for $100-200/mo USD plus food and a 1 month Christmas bonus. A fully trained caregiver is about $1000/mo USD and they are world famous for being excellent caregivers. I will also have the option to marry a young attractive woman there because American men of any age are in high demand. SE Asian women are well known to enjoy being wives, taking care of the house and their husband. Medical and dental care is excellent too at 75% to 90% less cost than in the US. It's better than in the US because the wait time to see a doctor or dentist is just a few hours up to maybe 5 or 7 days. In the US the wait is weeks and months. And best of all the medical and dental service makes more sense. They get you in and out and do all the work in one place. In the US you often have to see a doctor just to get a referral to another doctor. Back and forth many times.
I maybe even have kids. Life is good if you live it on your terms.

My husband and 2 out of three of my children have autism. My children are young adults and high functioning. Mental health is a real challenge for both of them. Anxiety for my daughter and depression and addiction for my son. At present he can’t hold a job and this isolates him completely. I can see his self destruction and feel helpless in helping him. Mental healthcare here in the US is not easy to get.

That's sad. I was so lucky that when I became an adult computer were just starting to get popular. I took a computer science course in college and the teacher explained pixels and I was instantly interested. I could create anything. I learned programming in 2 weeks, dropped out of college and got a job creating Atari 2600 video games. Went on to work at 14 different startups and had a blast. Relationships with women caused my problems. Wish I had learned earlier to avoid women. But oddly now at 67 I'm planning a move to SE Asia in 2025 and probably find a great wife, maybe have kids.
Hope you all find your path. I was lucky. If programming had come along just in time I may have had a hard life.

There was a time when I unironically believed that I could not possibly have a life worth living past 50. I've never had it in me to go out on my own terms, I'm also fully aware that substances do absolutely nothing for me and thus am somewhat immune to the typical addictions, and there have always been at least some things I enjoyed in life and wanted to stay around for. Now I'm 35 and doing what I can to hopefully still be fine after 50.

    • @MrWaterbugdesign
      @MrWaterbugdesign 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think interests are key to happiness. Depression caused by brain chemical problems aside.
I'm 67. I assumed 35 would be it for me. But after 28 I started to make some progress. Basically accepting what I was good at and enjoyed and what I was bad at and didn't enjoy. I was never going to have a forever relationship with a woman. I could, was married twice, lived with a couple other women. The problem was I didn't want to give up enough of my life to create a fantasy for them to boost their egos. Too much work and there's no upside. Taking female relationships off the table freed me to take more risks in my careers and investing. Saved a lot of money and gave me more time for things I liked. I ended up retiring at 45 but not with a pile of money. I still earned money but doing things I liked. Flipping house is my main funding. I have 2-7 years to fix up a house to sell. I collect building materials. I'm working on house #4 now, my biggest project.
I'll sell in 2025 and move to SE Asia. There I may get married. Great loyal women and at my age "married for the rest of my life" is not a huge commitment hahaha. I think I'll do better there with a wife than in the US because SE Asia seem happier with less. They're totally happy just being in same room when I'm writing software. And my quirks can be chalked up to being a foreigner. They just don't seem to expect perfect.
If you can find your path life can be a blast.

    • @MrWaterbugdesign

I thought the same except for me it was at about 50 I thought it was long enough. I was married at the time. I'd done many fun and exciting things in my life but only when single. My marriage was OK, we weren't fighting, but it's so limiting. Have to do everything her way, only do things she likes. So I started to think I'd done everything in my life I ever wanted to do. And everything new thing couldn't be done because I was married. I wasn't sad, but life became a bit boring. I even took out a life insurance policy for $1 million and knew to wait 2 years to end it so my wife could collect although money was never an issue. That's twisted. Finally at 59 she wanted a divorce and I jumped at the chance. The day she moved out of my house I completely redesigned my home for me. Computer lab in one room. Living room became a woodshop. Another room a metal shop.
I was the frog being slowly boiled. I didn't realize the problem was being married.
If a person isn't happy, isn't thrilled everyday, live different.
Now 67 and my next adventure is to finish remodeling my house, sell and move to SE Asia.

The suicide rate for autistic females is ten times the baseline and for autistic men six times the baseline, from what I've read. Try to look after yourselves people, seek and accept support if you are struggling.

@Compguy321 I continually try to increase my relationship with God, I read The Bible and repeat to myself that Jesus loves me. I know that Jesus loves me apart from my performance and that Christ gave His life for me and therefore imparted great value. I'm deeply loved, accepted, fully pleasing, forgivin and complete in Christ. But I still feel this continues feeling of emptiness and rejection from other people. Life is so hard and unforgiving for people like me with Asbergers. The prayer and continues devotion to God is not bringing me much peace and happiness. That's why I look forward to the new life after this. I've lost my brother, been through a lot of trauma, and tried my best to find peace and happiness, but nothing works. I love everyone and wouldn't want the world to be destroyed. I just wish that I was able to properly communicate to people and build relationships. But since I can't do that I feel like an outcast and an alien all the time.
