    It’s also really nice to see normal cakes, made by moms who aren’t trying to make it all for the gram. Lots of love in them I’m sure! Thank you!

      I'm guessing you already made your little one's cake. I hope it turned out well!
      I think storing it in the fridge or freezer for a few days would be fine, as long as you set it out to come to room temperature before serving (just to help it be softer for your little one to dig into.)

      Hi Kristina! That is a Happy Baby Carrier! I have two of them and just LOVE them, but they are in high demand right now (a bit hard to get ahold of!) My striped one from the video is an Onbuhimo which is great for back carries (no waistband) but I typically prefer their Original style which is my go-to daily carrier. I'm actually posting a video on baby carriers soon. :) Here's their website : happybabycarriers.com/

  • @Thelittlebirchhouse
    @Thelittlebirchhouse ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’m from the UK so I’m curious about the apple sauce that you use. Ours is traditionally served alongside pork dinners, and 2 of the first 3 ingredients are sugar and glucose-fructose syrup so obviously we can’t use it. You’ve inspired me to try a modified recipe though as I’m trying to avoid added sugar for my 11 month old and intend to keep that up until he’s at least 2!

    • @dietitianmeetsmom
      @dietitianmeetsmom  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Aimée, the applesauce I used is simply puréed apples (no sugar added). If you can buy puréed apples in baby food or perhaps sub another sweet fruit purée? I’ve not tried it but just a couple ideas.

    • @headerahelix
      @headerahelix ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know I'm way late but you can make your own no added sugar apple sauce super easily by just simmering apple slices on low on the stove, then mash them up. If you know the ol' baked apple you can do that too and scoop out out but it'll probably be less apple-sauce like and more apple syrup-ish.

    hi .. i enjoyed watching your video.. i’ve tried using your recipe but i wonder why the cake doesn’t come off the pan easily like you did? it sticked to the the bottom and kinda a mess.. any advice for me where in the process I could have gone wrong ? Appreciate your advice. Thanks

      Did you let the cake cool before removing it? I've never had trouble with this recipe especially if I let it cool 15-20 minutes on a cooling rack. Sometimes you can use a knife around the edges of the pan to help loosen it as well or try tapping the pan. Also, be sure to coat the pan in coconut oil or some kind of oil before pouring in the batter. Hope this helps!!

    Hi, thanks for sharing. I would like to try this for my girl but wanted to skip vanilla extract and cinnamon, is it OK? For coconut cream, will it melt as the room temperature is 30 degree Celsius here 😅

    • @dietitianmeetsmom
      @dietitianmeetsmom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m honestly not sure how long it would last at that temp. Maybe wait to put the icing on until soon before or store in fridge for a bit if that’s an option? It won’t be as flavorful without those ingredients but I’m guessing your baby won’t care as their tastes are different than adults. 😉

    My cake didn’t come out fluffy at all; it was heavy and dense, why do you think that is? I followed all the ingredients and measurements. It’s dense and tight that I don’t think my son will be able to break pieces on his own from the round double later

      Sorry it came out that way for you. I’m not sure what happened. It is not a super fluffy cake (due to the healthy ingredients as opposed to ingredients in a traditional cake….white flour, sugar, etc) but it shouldn’t be so hard and dense that a baby would have issues breaking it.

      Yep, the coconut cream I'm using is usually just made of coconut, water, and possibly guar gum. But in the US coconut cream is typically just coconuts and water.

      I think most people use it for a one-year-old because they are typically the group looking for a "no-sugar" healthier cake recipe. The official recommendation is no sugar below 2, which is probably why it ends up this way, and then more parents are serving a more typical option of cake at 2 and later on. However, this is certainly still a healthy option at 2 and my kiddos enjoyed it past 1. Just depends on what you're looking for :)

      @dietitianmeetsmom thanks for reply he is still In a very picky phase or selective I shall say and I am not ready to give him a full piece of regular cake at like 20 g sugar and 600 cal maybe next year! Lol I will make this one thank you. He has whip cream and fruit and some dark chocolate here and there but to overload right on the 2nd birthday seems a bit too much. I just think it should be normal for kids to have lower sugar options past 1 and still enjoy it. Plenty of years ahead for the real deal. This cake is the real deal for a two yo! Thanks
