Honestly, Bethesda should play the NOLVUS mod pack and take notes of what makes it so popular. Fuck it, just hire the mod pack developers as junior directors of the game at this point
Ideally, the map should be of both High Rock and Hammerfell. Perhaps ship combat and traversal similar to AC Odyssey throuhout the Illiac Bay. Would love the opportunity to either roleplay as a Pirate or a merchant hoping from city to city only the coasts
I have mixed feelings on the idea of both High Rock and Hammerfell. On one hand it would be awesome to have both provinces explorable, but on the other Bethesda really needs to focus on quality rather than quantity. A smaller world with lots of care, polish and detail is what I think ES6 should have instead of the massive but empty world they gave Starfield
Starfield’s biggest problem is that it is just a heavily modified version of fallout 4, which is a heavily modified version of Skyrim, which is a heavily modified version of Fallout 3, which is a heavily modified version of Oblivion, you get the idea. It’s time for BGS to go all out and develop a whole new engine designed for next gen.
All this talk about "the game engine" comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of how game development works. Bethesda doesn't need to make a new engine, in fact, that would most definitely be a downgrade. What Bethesda has been doing all this time is upgrade their engine, they called it Creation Engine 2.0 after the reiterations they did for Starfield. Do you think Unreal Engine 5 was made from scratch? No, Unreal Engine 5 is the evolution of Unreal Engine 4. If they made a new engine, we'd lose what made these games so great in the first place. An engine is in some capacity modular, and what Bethesda should be doing is to reiterate on the parts that made certain things feel less fluid and janky, and improve on the parts that we all love. You think you want a new engine, but you don't. If you LOVE your car but hate your stereo, you don't replace the car but you do get a new stereo. They don't need to remake the engine to introduce support for DLSS and every other "new" technology we want in their games.
@@MikeWFX The problem is that games with Bethesda’s engine don’t really look or function better than previous titles. Starfield looks like oblivion with better facial animations; it doesn’t look like a next gen game.
@@npc6254 Again though, I think that's a misunderstanding of game development. Those aren't game engine issues. Those are most likely shader quality issues. Search up "3d shader" for a more detailed explanation of what a shader is. Essentially though, a game engine sends data to the shader which alters said pixels according to how the developers want their game to look and feel, among other things. I think, in my personal opinion, that the reason we see a downgrade in Bethesda's productions is because their best talent left them years ago. I also think that they are more money-centric than ever. Their lead writer is also appallingly bad, and has a horrible attitude towards deep lore.
What bethesda should have done during the 8 years of starfield development is devote a good 2 years just to fix/update/add new stuff to the engine, they needed to dedicate a good chunk of time while keeping it as mod friendly as it has been. They dont need a new engine, what they need is a dedicated team working on it, fixing all the patchworks they have been doing over the years and add in more stuff to it without it breaking. Unreal went from 1 to 5 gradually because they have a dedicated team working on it, Beth being a primarily game company prob doesnt devote that much time to it.
I didn't play it because I found Fallout 3 so bad it felt personally insulting. Well, that's just me being a d*ck. The real reason is I really just cannot get into the worldbuilding
I think Bethesda needs to rethink their approach. They have to stop to appeal to everybody, because nobody is happy with that. Yes, not all people will read all the quest and will discover every possibility or even all quests. Not everyone cares for world building. That's their problem, don't skimp on the depth of the quests and lore/world building! Starfields world is incredible boring and doesn't make sense if you think a bit out it. New Atlantis for example. The planet is safe, there is no need to build a slum or these high towering buildings. You can build a wide city instead, it's cheaper as well. They only wanted to show social injustice the most lazy way. Also you don't want to build your spaceport so close to the city, one drunk pilot or mechanical failure and a starship will crash into on the these towers. On the other hand it's extremely loud, which would lower the value of properties. Don't make so many game systems completely optional that you can completely ignore them. Let have game mechanics have an impact or cut them! Like the spacesuits that protect against environmental problems. You don't have to pay attention to it, because it is so weak. It is just annoying. Either cut it or make it worth something. (Manual changing spacesuits would be annoying I know. Nothing that a additional small system could fix, like you can assign spacesuits on your ship for environments and the game equips them automatically when leaving the ship.) Same with ship fuel. (Yes, I know for the probably coming survival mode, but then they could add these systems later as well.) Proper UI design! Why the f*ck is the inventory a step backwards compared to their previous games? The UI mods are always one of the most used mods!
Starfield has the same problem as Mass Effect Andromeda. They look off base. When you are mad, sad, or happy you see it in more than cheeks. There is a look in your eyes to reflect that feeling.
I think the lesson that bethesda and any other rpg game devs should take from BG3 is not to be afraid to go in depth into the RPG element of it all, company (including beth) seemed to be afraid and make content that accessible to everyone, no deeper story routes , no blocking off paths or companions based on decisions you make/actions you do. So they end up make a wideeeeee but shallow game instead of deeper game with deeper characters. This design approach then informs how they build their stories/quests/characters. Stop being afraid
"my biggest hope is for the game to come out"... i think you should keep your expectations on a realistic level :D
My favorite glitch in Skyrim was walking up to a black line that shoots up into the sky. The black line was A Book, I was laughing for a good over it.
Honestly, Bethesda should play the NOLVUS mod pack and take notes of what makes it so popular. Fuck it, just hire the mod pack developers as junior directors of the game at this point
If they hope to succeed, Bethesda MUST include a contemporaneous Skyrim at release, in addition to new regions.
Ideally, the map should be of both High Rock and Hammerfell. Perhaps ship combat and traversal similar to AC Odyssey throuhout the Illiac Bay. Would love the opportunity to either roleplay as a Pirate or a merchant hoping from city to city only the coasts

2:12 didn't play on principle? What does that mean? Even some of the original fallout creators played and mostly enjoyed 3 and 4.
I didn't play it because I found Fallout 3 so bad it felt personally insulting.

Bro just play Kingdom Come , you will love it
you left some errors when reading the script

Throwing in a questionable opinion souls combat in a elder scrolls world
You didn't like Oblivion? Disliked, get out of my recommendations
Oblivion just wasn't for me.
It wasn't personally insulting like Fallout 3 😂

i hope it's not made by bethesda
