Prime Hunters just happened to be my first ever Metroid game (family owned copy), so it was inevitable I would know about Sylux whether I wanted to or not.

fans knew from the first frame they saw it that this had to be prime 4
I knew and I wasn't a Metroid fan! It helped that I had seen Prime 2 in other videos and I was like, yep this is Prime 4!
Aside from the fact that they wouldn’t save Prime 2 for a last trailer, the biggest early giveaway in my opinion was the environment the ship lands in. Prime 2 began in a hole in the ground that Samus crashlanded into.
@@BuphidoAlso the fact that the ship itself is the Prime 3 design, not the Prime 1/2 design.
The real giveaway is that no other Metroid game opens with “20X9” and “Galactic Federation Research Facility”. I didn’t know all the years in detail so when it showed it I was still considering that it may just be Prime 2 or 3 or something like a Hunters or Federation Force remake (as odd as it would be to end a direct with that), maybe even a non-Metroid game with a similar opening. But yeah, when it showed “Galactic F-“ I already knew it could be nothing else, though it took me a solid minute to process and accept that this was actually finally happening.
Zelda not being the last thing made it incredibly obvious prime 4 was coming at the end, which I haven't seen anyone else call out yet surprisingly.

The Metroid Prime games were significant to me in my childhood. I played (though did not complete) the Trilogy collection when I was in elementary school, and I was absolutely enamored with them.

I’m so happy for everyone who’s been waiting for this game not just for the seven years since it was initially announced but the 10 years even before that since Prime 3. I really hope it’ll have been worth the wait.

I briefly thought this was Prime 3 Remastered, since the ship is the same. Once i saw gameplay, i was in disbelief.
Fair enough given how each Prime has different Gunships besides Hunters reusing the Prime 1 gunship.

I do. That guy was a clueless joke. If he had ever spent so much as 30 seconds on a previous Metroid Prime game he would have realized what it was. They all start out with that font being typed out with those sound effects. You can always tell who the fake gamers are that don't actually know anything about games. If a giant letter C was burned on screen with fire I would know its' Contra, for instance. I've never even played FF7 but I would still instantly recognize what game a trailer is for if they showed Cloud's Buster Sword or any number of other references.

I love the Metroid community. I was in 4th grade when the OG Metroid was announced in Nintendo Power Magazine and I was itchy with excitement. I’m so happy to see my beautiful peeps loving Samus. Love you all!

I got hyped when I saw that it was a new Metroid title and I popped off when it went into first person. That's how I knew it was Prime 4. So excited to play this game in 2025.

@@purplemist7 I think it's just the 20X9 text catching people off-guard. Many megaman games take place during 200X and 20XX. There're even indie games 20XX and 30XX that are love letters to megaman. And the old homestar runner parody 20X6. It is very much a megaman-esque date. And yes, I know metroid also started using the 20X5/20X6/20X7 format, but I would say it's more tied to the megaman franchise than metroid.

I know my people because they KNEW it was Prime 4 from the Galactic Date and the Ship (she doesn't get her famous gunship until Metroid 2).
I can understand some people haven't played Prime 2 or 3 still because they were to younger or got into gaming after, but I can't understand people that excited and still thought it was Prime 2. Like legit didn't know what the game was. You would know it was Prime 2 from the HUD alone.
