@aflockofconnivingmagpies3490 the space pirates got a lot of rules in prime 1. The rulebreakers would get pretty severe punishments from cutting off rations to spending guard duty in dangerous containment areas.
Maybe he's using the 'troids to control the space pirates? These weird metroids latch onto their prey, and instead of draining them into husks, they turn them into slaves?
The "metroids" may just be "mochtroids" since they do not have the triple core. I'm expecting them to potentially upgrade across multiple encounters with him in the game.
My guess is that this places the game somewhere after Super and before Fusion, since the Mochtroids were the Space Pirates' failed attempts to clone the Baby. This would make it the biggest leap in the timeline for a Prime game
@@Knurlurzhadthe prime games all take place before super. At least all so far. This could his be the pirate ya being unable to perfect Metroid cloning until they had gotten mother brain back up and going in super
If Prime 4 follows up directly after Prime 3 (I would honestly be surprised if it didn't) then that means it's in between Prime 3 and Samus returns. So that means whatever happens in this game with the Mochtroids or regular Metroids is the catalyst for the galactic federation ordering Samus to SR388 to exterminate the Metroids
I honestly love how updated it feels. Compared to remastered, the text box is as wide as it possibly can be, taking full advantage of the widescreen. On top of that, the little scan pictures on the side no longer have borders like all the other Prime games, giving it much more of a natural feel.
Man the Metroid series is just killing it with proper story sequels. Dread was the perfect sequel to fusion building on all the plot points and prime 4 looks like it might be the perfect prime 3 sequel
New details regarding Metroid's lore are so rare and infrequent that when something pops up, it feels like an actual real life conspiracy is being uncovered. I'm not saying you should wait 18 years to reveal conclusions to plot threads, or that they did so intentionally, but man, being a metroid fan is like being an archeologist.
I've remarked before that trying to piece together the canonicity of Metroid materials is like doing textual criticism on a historical or religious text.
As someone who couldn't care less about Zelda lore, I'm absolutely obsessed with Metroid lore. My mind is flowing with speculation on the meaning behind Sylux controlling two Metroid like creatures and seemingly commanding a Space Pirate army.
No kidding. I remembered when Dread first released, and all the lore about that game started to drip out. It felt crazy that all that wasn’t actually a dream-
It’s because Nintendo didn’t really do much work on the backstory of Metroid at all. They drop breadcrumbs here and there because that’s all they have. They leave it up to fans to come up with the rest.
It does make sense why sylux is working with the space pirates because they both hate the federation and samus, so why not join forces against your shared foes
Pirates also have a long history of following powerful outsiders by this point. And this one seems a solid rival to their nemesis. It fits the lore easy.
@@Zzantzanterto be fair it’s pretty well established in the prime series that they are scared shitless of Samus, in Prime 1 they were already on Talon IV before Samus arrived in system, and at the time they weren’t fully believing that Samus alone was responsible for the destruction of their bases on Zebes, by the time of Prime 2 they had a full blown panic attack when Dark Samus arrived believing it to be Samus…..and then proceeded to shit a brick when they realized there was 2 samus. Prime 3 they were basically brainwashed by phazon and dark samus to be absolutely obedient
@PBJA89it's directly continuing from the ending of Federation Force. Back in 2015 they even said Federation Force was a prologue to Prime 4. The Prime 3 ending is most likely not even going to factor into Prime 4 other than being maybe explained as how it led to Fed Force.
Let's be real: this announcement was such an unexpected surprise and yet I'm so hyped ! I really hope Sylux will make for a great antagonist. I do think he has some good potential in all honesty.
Maybe you don't follow the community as close as some of us but, there were multiple outlets (big ones) saying that Metroid Prime 4 was going to be announced at this Nintendo Direct. I expected it to be shown at this Direct and I also expected it to be the last one.
Man, Hunters is rife with plot points that are begging to be followed up on. Spire is the last survivor of a race of magma creatures who are all but extinct for reasons even HE doesn’t know. Kanden is a super soldier created in a mysterious lab that he destroyed. Trace is from the Kriken Empire, which is a whole antagonistic faction unto itself. I am so glad at least one of the rival bounty hunters is finally getting followed up on, at least.
Weavel was the ultimate embodiment of Space Pirate technological insanity. Weird glowing substance that mutates and ends thousands? Inject it into ourselves, and add more tubes to our planetary bases while we do so! Survived being rendered nothing but a torso? CONSTRUCT ME A PAIR OF DETACHABLE MECHANICAL LEGS THAT CAN ALSO BE A TURRET WHILE I SCURRY ABOUT UPON MY HANDS!
I think the updated graphics and art style have to do with that. He was scrawny and oddly proportioned in Hunters. Here he has a stronger stature and looks far more intimidating.
My experience with this guy is pretty much limited to just kinda knowing about him in Hunters and his few other game appearances and thinking, "huh, he looks pretty neat". Now though, I'm hyped as hell to see what he does now that he seems to finally have earned the main villain status, and it has me wanting to go watch a Hunters playthrough asap to catch up on him. That entrance was so cool too, with him commanding two Metroid-esque creatures and an army of Pirates, and goddamn that guitar riff!
One thing I'm curious about regarding Sylux having two Metroids following him involves the lore introduced in Dread. Samus has Thoha DNA, and the Thoha were the Chozo who could control Metroids. It wouldn't be unreasonable to conclude that the Baby Metroid's imprinting on Samus wasn't simply a behavior that newly-hatched Metroids would show to anyone, but in fact had to do with her Thoha DNA. If that's true, then Metroids imprinting on Sylux might suggest that he actually has some sort of connection to the Chozo... This is especially interesting, because unlike the other Hunters characters, his species was never specified.
I'll bet Sylux is at least a human. I don't think any of the other hunters from MPH (save weavel who is an android) had 5 fingers besides him. He's definitely the most "normal" humanoid.
Big realization, the object that was being carted away by an unarmed human earlier in the trailer, looks to be the same thing as the object seem behind the letters in the logo
Due to how Sylux is shown to have a deep seated hatred towards the Federation, I can bet he holds a "by any means necessary" mentality, joining the Space Pirates and having the two Metroids but using them as just tools. But that were I can see the possibility of Sylux becoming a more complex villain by making him an twisted version of what Samus is. A victim of a Space Pirate attack, but puts blame on the Federation for some reason, was capable of stealing the suit and Shock Coil to become a Bounty Hunter/(violent) Assassin who goes after the Federation.
Ah, I get it. A dark reflection of Samus. He could be what Samus would've became if the Chozo never found her. What you're implying is that perhaps the Federation never saved his people or they never made it on time. And spent all his life alone.
This is what has been invading my brain for the last weeks. Most, if not All, of Samus’ overarching villains are Dark Reflections of Her, but each one in a different way. Sylux’s bit is that he once was the same terrified child that Samus herself was, and the cards dealt to them and how they responded made them who they are.
"The Space Pirate Homeworld has been conquered and occupied. " Just so you know, it's been stated, that Utraghus (aka Corruption "Pirate Homeworld") isn't their actual "homeworld" in a traditional sense. It's more akin to what Zebes is to the Space Pirates, as opposed to their main planet of origin.
It's the homeworld for the specific Urtraghian race, who are the dominant species of the greater Space Pirate alliance, and the Federation seizing that planet dealt a deathblow to the Pirates as a military force. For a real world perspective, it would be like if an enemy was fighting NATO and the USA was destroyed: NATO itself would still exist in all the other remaining extant countries, but its most powerful fighting force would be gone.
@@AICW Maybe, though it's been described as "one of the Pirate Homeworlds" akin to Zebes and I guess by comparison, the "Zebesian" Pirate race. But we know that Zebes was not even the "Zebesian" birthworld, just like how Urtraghus is equally not their birthworld, but a world they conquered. It also wasn't a death blow either, considering the Pirates are still very much present in Federation Force and still an active threat, same now goes with Beyond, and to an extent, Super Metroid. It was a significant blow at best, but not a death blow.
I forgot that i used to watch the intro animation to Hunters and just be in awe of how good the visuals looked on the DS screen. I'd truly love a modern HD port.
I think I remember reading somewhere (an interview or leak?) that Prime 4 is going to explore more of the dynamic and interactions between Samus and the Federation. Both Prime 3 and Federation Force were kinda teasers of this concept, with the large faction battles and such.
Prior to Dread's release I thought that it would've been cool if Prime 4 could take place after Fusion, as Sylux as a villain would go well with the rogue Federation faction, but that would've needed some humans as bad guys and idk if that's something Nintendo wanted to go with for the series.
Here's some food for thought: His signature weapon, the Shock Coil, drains energy like a Metroid. He COULD very much be a "better" parent than Samus was, insofar as teaching those metroids how to siphon energy from prey, among other things.
@@PauLtus_B While it doesn't have to be the case, something that can give Sylux some nuance is perhaps he is the last member of his species and the federation basically whipped out the rest of his kind. Either due to civil disagreements or desire for resources. Just an idea, and the only basis I have this idea is Sylux's species being unknown, and it being said that Sylux harbors a personal vendetta against the Federation.
I remember back when Super Smash Bros. Brawl was coming out, I really wanted Sylux to be in it. From what I remember, he was one of those characters that a decent amount of people wanted in the game. A lot of people were hyping him up for a future Metroid game, given the ending of Corruption. I always found his trophy cool looking in Brawl and wished that he was playable. Man, those were good times... Considering his prominence in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond as the main antagonist, I have a strong feeling that he'll make his way into the next entry of the Smash series. Let's be real: A new Smash is inevitable, even without Sakurai's involvement. I would love to see Sylux make an appearance as a playable fighter. ^^
Man, same. Then again, I was pretty delusional, I wanted King K. Rool, Banjo-Kazooie and even Ridley in Smash, not realizing how huge he is. What foolish dreams. How naive I was...
I really like the idea of the tech in question being time travel related and the lush forest planet actually being the same barren planet but in the distant past
My personal theory is that Syluxs true identity is Ian Malkovich. The brother of Adam. Somehow surviving the blast from the ship’s reactor going critical. Adam didnt try anything to save him, samus wanted to save him and probably could have but Adam told her no. Hints how he was able to steal the armor and has a hatred towards the Federation and Samus. Thinking samus, his closest friend in the time just let him “Die”
Good thinking! Keeping his identity a secret for _this long_ tells me that whatever the reveal is, it has to be significant. Adam's brother fits the bill perfectly.
I'm really not the biggest fan of Other M and want that title to stay far away from the Prime games, but even I can agree that that's an awesome theory.
My observations: - Sylux is the new leader of the Space Pirates. He is trying to or already collected a sample of Phazon to destroy the Galactic Federation. And maybe using for other purposes. - the Metroids are actually Mochtroids. - logo indicates Time Shift mechanics. Kensuke Tanabe already commented that he would like to do this in Metroid Prime 4. - there's also portal in that green area
@@danielpinto804 it's not impossible if he has collected a sample of Phazon before Samus even got to destroy Phaaze. If the time shift idea is present then it's even more possible. We also don't know if the Galactic Federation has some sort of secret lab doing shady experiments with Phazon.
@@danielpinto804 There is nothing in the game that explicity tells you that "Phazon is entirely vanished forever". Though Phaaze itself is destroyed. I heard that some of the devs said that Phazon is gone, but they could very well change their ideas and re-introduce Phazon again. Time travel is not the only way.
@@daftcruz And what's more likely? That Sylux somehow got Phazon, or that the Space Pirates, being a hive mind that clings onto whoever is stronger to lead, saw Sylux, a being almost on par with Samus, bring out a species back from the dead, and decided THIS guy is the new boss?
Watch Sylux turn out to be Adam's brother who was shown to have died to his and samus' inaction. When that ship exploded. I mean it would make sense if he became vengeful.
About those Metroids. Based on appearance they are not *real* Metroids, but something else that is called Mochtroids or something and are the first Metroids that were cloned by the Pirates. However they are weaker than the normal Metroids and deemed a failure. Mochtroids had only 1 nucleus and not the usual 3 that normal Metroids have. They first appeared in Super Metroid, which I think is Metroid 2, if I'm not mistaken. That would mean that Prime 4 is still set between Metroid 1 and Metroid 2 and most likely the final Prime game. About your assessment beginning at 7:02 that the Pirates had been defeated after Prime 3. I don't think the Pirate Homewolrd in Prime 3 was their only world. It's been a while, but if memory serves correctly than it was just one Planet under Pirate control. And I think the federation didn't have the Manpower to occupy the Planet for long so they bailed after the Phazon Crisis.
This game being set in 20x9 VS another game being set in 20x5 doesn't mean anything. This game could be 2069 (nice) while the other game is 2075. Or this game is 2089 while the other game is 2085. We don't know based on 20x5 and 20x9 which game happens first.
@@halowillneverbegoodagain1868 FYI Samus Returns must happen no sooner than 20X6 because Federation Force's intro text states the year for that game is 20X6.
Being born in 2001 Prime has been with me literally my entire life and I cannot express how excited I am! As a Metroid fan I have had to learn to be patient and I'm so glad its paying off!! Also, I found your channel through metroid so I am 100% okay with more videos about it
What if Sylux developed a method to control metroids, and brought that knowledge to the Space Pirates with the promise of sharing that method if they helped him hunt down Samus?
Outside of being MB related or involving Chozo genes, don’t know what it could be. No one or nothing aside from Chozo technology can realistically control them.
One thing I'd like to add to your comment on the new logo, is that to me, the black hole-esque shape reminds me a lot of the Dark Aether portals from Prime 2, which may hint at a return of either The Ing (yes please) or at least a further exploration of the dimension they came from. Which would honestly be quite fitting considering Echoes is the game that canonically takes place right after Hunters.
I'm pretty sure the Ing were simply created as a result of a Phaaze Leviathan interacting with the planetary energy of Aether. This is pretty heavily implied in both Prime 2 and Prime 3.
Sylux has been teased for so long that Bondrewd was imagined, written into a manga, adapted into a big-production anime, and up and stole Sylux's look in the cultural imagination before Sylux could even be revealed in his own game lmao
Nintendo isn’t really known for their writing or stories in games. They often leave it to fans to pick up all the breadcrumbs and come up with timelines and story arcs. So when it comes to Silux, we’re giving them a lot of credit for concealing his motivations when in reality they probably didn’t write anything more about him until Prime 4.
I wonder if this will open the Metroid series to the concept to time travel. Black holes have been theorized to be portals to other worlds or even to different points in time. Would explain the logo change. I can't say for sure but if they are looking to play with time mechanics, I hope they do it right.
Honestly the subtitle of the game, Beyond, has got me *real* curious about what exactly Sylux and his pirate goons are stealing. Assuming its not just stealing for the sake of stealing (though that does feel like Sylux's speed), my gut instinct is we may be doing some stuff with dimensional tech. Not mirror worlds like Prime 2, but full on parallel universes or timelines. The pirates might be looking for a timeline where they're victorious, and Sylux might be looking for a timeline where the Federation never existed. Who knows. Wild-ass baseless speculation, but that's all I've got for now.
Considering how mysterious Sylux is he could even have originated from some kind of alternate universe, maybe one where the federation is a far more tyrannical force which could be a really cool explanation for his hatred of them.
@@Beeg_Boy If we're speculating that direction, I'm just going to call it: Sylux is alt-universe Samus, and those shoulder spikes are a Varia upgrade. "Metroid is a girl??" ^_^
Considering that the name title is still there. Im assuming Sylux is using Metroids and Phaaze to create his own Metroid Prime. Maybe use his stolen tech too create or fuse its tech with Metroids or Phaaze?
I’m so happy prime 4 is coming, Metroid is finally getting the love it deserves after dread of course. Samus is the most badass bounty hunter, and she can proudly stand next to doom guy.
I remember a long time ago playing Metroid prime and thinking it would be so awesome to have a scan visor or Pokedex. Now my phone has the Google lens feature, and I don't use it nearly as much as I thought I would. It's useful when I do use it, completely neglect the capability. Maybe it just needs a little more of something.
I kind of hope that like Prime 1, the meat of this game takes place on just one planet with many different biomes, as opposed to having to travel to different planets.
I hope Weavel comes back. Sylux is rooming with the pirates, so the chance isn't zero. It's nice that we have a real rival though. With Ridley being more of a Frieza figure, the only real rival Samus has ever had was Dark Samus, a now dead doppelganger. I feel like Sylux has a chance of sticking around for some time. I also hope the tank controls come back as an option.
Since in the timeline, Metroid samus return happens after this game. My theory, Sylux does something so bad with the metroids that the federation finally decides to just eradicate the metroids.
only thing i think you missed was the portal behind samus when the shot of the forest planet starts, looks kinda like the ones from MP2, tho i don't think the dual side of maps mechanic from echoes will come back.
Maybe the Luminoth reverse engineered the portals, and since the Federation is helping them after the Ing war, they may have a hand in the portal's creation
Going to go out on a limb and say that whatever Silux is up to is going to be the cause of the Federation declaring genocide against the Metroids in Metroid II. This may be our last chance to fight Metroids in a Metroid game that isn't a remake, as well as get a new Ridley boss fight. Regarding Silux's alliance with the space pirates, he may have seen them as useful and picked them up. They do voluntarily follow a powerful leader. I thought the planet at the end was Talon IV. At least it looks like it to me, and it has the musical cues.
@@jesusramirezromo2037 I meant that the other way around. As in, whatever Sylux does in Beyond is what gets the Federation to exterminate the Metroids in 2. That would basically wrap up the Prime series and tie it into the numbered games
It's a reasonable theory, I'm thinking they might want to just allude to that possibility rather than fully commit to it, that way they can still put more games in that timeframe.
Based on his weapon absorbing the life energy of his enemies, i think that there was some trace if Dark Samus, and by extension The Metroid Prime, after Samus beat her at the end of Prime 3 and Sylux either came in behind us and absorbed the weakened Metroid Prime or got possessed by it.
The logo for Metroid Prime 4 reminds me of Sylux's Lockjaw (His version of the morphball) if it was made with today's graphics...except it's now purple instead of green. Since his armor is a prototype there could be room for upgrades of his own just like Samus thus resulting in that purple shade in the logo, would be interesting since it would drawn more parallel to both since they're bounty hunters with seemingly equal skill.
Not saying theyre tied together but the new logo image they replaced the screw attack with does look similar to Luminoth tech. Considering how their tech and the light suit look it is possible that the "new" race might not be new at all. Considering the Chozo were close allies and trade partners with the Luminoth it wouldnt be out of the realm of possibility that the Luminoth had another colony. Furthermore its stated in Prime 1s manual that the Chozo disappeared from the galaxy this is also further confirmed by Metroid Dread. Maybe the Chozo or several other alien species left the primary galaxy and founded new colonies leading to the Gfed and Samus trying to or accidentally locating them hence the beyond subtitle.
Hopefully this means we’ll get follow up story analysis on the rest of the Metroid Prime games soon in preparation for this new release. I loved your videos on the space pirates as well as the first Metroid Prime 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I wouldn't be surprised if Sylux is actually Samus's long-lost direct relative like father or brother. Or maybe he's the "remember me?" guy from Other M
I’d love to see a Gannondorf video like the one you made for Sephroth. I doubt we’ll ever get it but man, I’d love to see you go over him as a villain and his backstory.
I saw this and thought "not another fan video" but IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING IM LEGIT CRYING. im such a metroid nerd amd prime 3 was so cool to me and finally
Lockdown (TF: Animated version) actually unnerved the crap out of me as a kid, “Hi, I’m a standardly edgy looking Decepticon, except no, I’m not. I mode the shite out myself with special weapon limbs I got from my targets lmao.”
I hope they bring back the other hunters somehow. Weavel was already a space pirate so it is easy to see him working with Sylux. Trace and Kanden are already power-hungry so they could appear again. Spire and Noxus were actually decent people, and I think it would be cool to meet them again, not as rivals but as friends. "Hey, Samus. Sorry about what happened 18 years ago. I had a good reason. Can we fight space pirates now?"
Honestly this is the most observant overview on the trailer I've seen so far. Also I love the idea of Sylux using Mochtroids as his personal attack dogs, they will probably evolve throughout the game
@3:19 Just to point out, those 2 creatures behind Sylux are Mochtroid and not Metroids. Mochtroid resemble Metroid larvae, but are in fact the result of Space Pirates' first failed attempts at cloning Metroids. Mochtroids were only found in a sub-aquatic Pirate outpost in Maridia.
@anthonygarland8839 Mochtroids are failed experiments and are much weaker because of it. In Super Metroid they're sealed off in Maridia before Samus goes through there. They're also easier to shake off and have very different looking fangs along with the 1 nucleus. Tl;dr they're really weak
@@anthonygarland8839 not so far, but their only major appearance was super for like 2 minutes so odds are they get crazy with them and do some mutations in prime 4, like they have with normal metroids. My wild guess is Sylux wants to make a new Prime.
Imagine if Sylux is actually Samus from the future or an alternate reality/timeline or something? Would kind of make sense how closely she's been tailgated and seemingly not known about it, as well as how evenly matched they've been.
Looking at Samus' HUD, the bottom left shows the missile launcher selected as her secondary weapon, while the actual missile counter is on the bottom right. There are 3 empty slots on the left. Might hint at other "secondary" weaponry options besides missiles. Since super missiles have always been the charge combo for the regular missile, these empty slots could be other types of new weapons. I doubt it's for different beams, like in the previous game. It wouldn't make sense to show them together with the missile launcher, unless selecting a different beam makes her unable to use missiles.
1:00 what if in a paralel to Samus, theres was a attack on Sylux home planet, people close to him, died in the attack, and he blame the Galactic Federation for not previting this deaths
I always appreciate the little bit of extra depth in your videos! I don't necessarily agree with your point about the Prime 3-style multiple planets though; the trailer could largely be showing an intro area, with the forest scene showing the main planet.
It's cool how this story seems to have been brewing for a long time. Sylux working with space pirates and having metroids is way cool. I hope it ties other games together. We can be excited about this one. I hope that Priime 2 and 3 are released on switch soon, as well.
I am certainly here for any and all Metroid content. Dread needs a sequel too and I'd be super excited if they brought in some of those story elements for Prime. My only question, is if it's going to be classic level design, or will we have more of an open world design?
I think its amazing how nitendo managed to create 2 separate plots for 2 types of different games that are in the same timeline, and they are both interesting :D
I would be totally down for a blend of traditional Metroid and open-world as long as they don’t lean too hard on the latter. I don’t want a 50+ hour game experience with this.
Im so glad they went with Sylux and make him more part of the story. I frickn loved his design back when I played that weird ball game on the ds, my first and only metroid game, thats not even a mainline title
Sylux probably will be a temporary replacement for Ridley; since he was defeated in MP3, thus space pirates are leaderless. He (or maybe she?) will most likely be the right hand to whoever is in charge now; and most likely will end up betraying them for its own personal purposes. This is a great opportunity to build a worthy Rival for samus.
I think it’s possible you could start the game with basic functions, as it makes sense that you’d lose your upgrades from Prime 3 since much of the suits functions were Phazon enhanced.
The real question now though, is Prime 4 taking place after Prime 3 or is it taking place after Dread? That would change things dramatically depending on where this is in the timeline
@@peco595Look at Samus’ power suit, it’s pre-fusion. And given those “Metroids” may be “Mochtroids” (Appearing in Super with 1 Nucleus instead of 3, which these ones only have 1), this game may take place around Super’s time.
@I.T.P Not necessarily, as demonstrated in Dread the suit is sort of self repairing itself It's probably copium, but I'd like to think this takes place after Dread. Would be cooler that way. But yeah you're probably right, this game probably takes place not too long after Prime 3
It’s probably disproven by now, but part of me is hoping that the theory of Sylux being Samus’ long-lost younger brother is true. Think of the drama that would bring to the story.
One cool detail I noticed in this trailer is that Sylux new design looks very similar to Samus visor in terms of silhouette. The last framing before the new logo highlights it further
I'm just happy the game is definitely coming out, I knew it would eventually but by this point I was expecting it to be a Switch 2 launch title. You can do more Metroid discussions, more variety is good
My guess of why the Pirates are with Sylax is because quite literally they have no one left to join for the moment Ridley is currently dead, So is Kraid, And so is Mother Brain
Brett, I think it's possible that the jungle planet and the barren planet are one and the same. Samus may have time-travelled back to when the planet was life-bearing, through the portal we see in the trailer.
Crack Theory: The planet we see Samus fighting on, and the lush planet we see her in after, are the same planet, and it's Cyclosis. Here me out on this. In the opening cinematic for Metroid Prime Hunters, we see Sylux fighting Federation Marines on a misty, barren planet that appears mountainous with gray rock. This planet isn't specifically named but the same cinematic lists Sylux's homeworld as "Cyclosis". At the start of the trailer, we see Samus fight a team of space pirates lead by Sylux, on a misty, barren planet with gray rock. In the background of one scene, an unarmored researcher is quickly carting away what appears to be some sort of special technology. Crucially however, after the encounter with Sylux, and the game's name drope, we see Samus enter a lush, green area full of vegetation, and appears rather mountainous. Behind Samus is what appears to be some kind of glowing orb. I believe that this green, lush area is Cyclosis, but in the past. Samus may have used the technology that the scientist was running with to achieve time-travel. The Federation expanded to the planet and strip-mined the planet or did some other thing to it that caused it to become barren and lifeless. This would perfectly explain Sylux's hatred for the Federation: they destroyed his home, and since the Galactic Federation is a collection of factions and government bureaucracies all linked together, there was no one person or group he could direct his fury at, so he has turned to dismantling the Federation entirely. In 2015, series producer Kensuke Tanabe was interviewed about possibilities for future games. He said a Prime 4 would probably be set on one planet with a time-shifting mechanic. He also stated Sylux would be an important character so this has legs to stand on. On top of this, the game's logo resembles a black hole with its singularity visible in the center, so much so that it's probably intentional. Singularities are the only known objects in the universe that can totally disrupt space-time. Has the Galactic Federation developed a technology to create and control singularities?
Scariest thing about Sylux: he got not only two metroids but also 4 space pirates to behave in a coordinated and disciplined manner.
That's a good observation actually, space pirates have never been an orderly or disciplined bunch up until now.
Mind control maybe?

I think that maybe Sylux is now the new space pirate new Leader
Maybe he's using the 'troids to control the space pirates? These weird metroids latch onto their prey, and instead of draining them into husks, they turn them into slaves?

@PBJA89 My faith in the gaming industry has been beaten down so much that I had doubts
There's no way they would make a core Prime game without the scan visor. It's the feature that most defined them.
Bro for real! The cure (metroids) are worse than the disease (X parasites). That’s conspiracy 101.
It does make sense why sylux is working with the space pirates because they both hate the federation and samus, so why not join forces against your shared foes
Pirates also have a long history of following powerful outsiders by this point. And this one seems a solid rival to their nemesis. It fits the lore easy.
@Puzzles-Pins I agree with you even though you would think the space pirates would eventually learn to not go after samus, but you know they never do
he's probably just using them. there's no way he doesn't consider them beneath himself
@@Zzantzanter
But then Samus would just go after them.
I can't believe we finally have a game that gives Hunters and Federation Force a payoff.
@PBJA89Sylux was teased in the after credits of federation force.
@PBJA89Get over yourself
@PBJA89 GOD DAMN RIGHT. FUCK THAT CHIBI SHIT THATS HELL TO PLAY SOLO
Yeah, they been teasing Sylux to return for 3 games now, I'm eager to know more
@PBJA89it's directly continuing from the ending of Federation Force.
I may be the minority but I've "expected" this game announcement for several years and I haven't let up so it better be worth the wait
@@SolDizZoI didn't expect them to give us a title reveal AND teaser before 2025 ngl.
I expected a trailer considering its been a year since Prime Remastered but I wasn't expecting gameplay lol
it was the most expected announcement
Dude trace is so cool, i REALLY wanna see him.
It’s totally not unreasonable that Weavel could show up in this game too. He’s a pirate, although a heavily altered one.
@@GrizbyK72yeah, Weavel is a veteran supersoldier of their species, one of their most powerful asset's
We could probably see them all here 👀👀👀
Like i said in another video, I wasn't sold on Sylux as a main antagonist until i saw him in the trailer. He looked very badass.
Oh, no. Someone that can actually run the Space Pirates like an actual *organized* force
Mother Brain and Dark Samus did it already. It’s not like Sylux is the first.
you forgot ridley@@kingbeef66
@@lucassmith7484 Yeah, Ridley did organize the Pirates before the invasion of Zebes and Mother Brain joining them and becoming their leader.
If you're suggesting what I think you're suggesting, this might be a really really REALLY good game incoming.
Solomon Aran?
Or Sylux found out how to engineer them.
He could even personally know Samus and could be why he's hunting her down
Big realization, the object that was being carted away by an unarmed human earlier in the trailer, looks to be the same thing as the object seem behind the letters in the logo
i think the object behind the letters in the logo is black hole
Yeah and it also looks like the Lockjaw, Sylux alternative form.
Yep you can see it more clearly in the direct feed screenshots. Plus, the holograms on the desk show the same object as well.
A new metroid game? I could die today not playing it and leave the world in peace, knowing millions would get to experience PEAK
Hundreds? Try millions
That's dumb you have to live to experience it with us.
It wouldn’t be the same without you playing it with us
nah fam we need everyone playing this, that includes you
Awe. DUDE. 🥹
He might view the metroids as victims if he was hurt by the federation some how.
Ah, I get it. A dark reflection of Samus. He could be what Samus would've became if the Chozo never found her. What you're implying is that perhaps the Federation never saved his people or they never made it on time. And spent all his life alone.
I think Sylux is Ian Malkovich.
@@PrettyNightmare69hmmmm
Can’t decide how I feel about that one.
Interesting suggestion tho.
Can't wait to see Sylux being secretly a wholesome dad for those Metroids
its just bring your kid to work day for him and thats why theyre theee
Hopefully he's not the Bondrewd kind of "wholesome dad."
inb4 he kicks one of them
"The Space Pirate Homeworld has been conquered and occupied. "
Just so you know, it's been stated, that Utraghus (aka Corruption "Pirate Homeworld") isn't their actual "homeworld" in a traditional sense.
I hope silux is a more complex villian. I low key hope hes actually treating the metroids as his kids instead of pure weapons.
Here's some food for thought: His signature weapon, the Shock Coil, drains energy like a Metroid. He COULD very much be a "better" parent than Samus was, insofar as teaching those metroids how to siphon energy from prey, among other things.
I hope so too. Although Metroid isn't exactly known for its deep, complex villains.
I'm curious how you would like to see a more complex villain?
Metroid hasn't been that character driven so far and I think that has worked just fine.
@@R0-83-RT It's speculated that he's Ian Malkovich, Adam's brother
Looks like Sylux has made some Serious upgrades to his stolen GF prototype power armor. Reduced the Vents of light and Improve its Silhouette.
@@sove3566 Like that would ever happen!
@@FoxsDumbSeriesMaker thank you so much. Im glad you like it. Ive had this theory since Other M. And just was like, What if
@@Dudeman23rd thank you so much. Im glad you like the theory
Ian or her brother would be the most logical unless they are going too tease someone else as them.
Sylux and Traces' designs go so hard and I'm glad at least one is getting something
My observations:
- Sylux is the new leader of the Space Pirates.
It's impossible he has Phazon as this game HAS to happen after Metroid Prime 3 where Phazon is completely destroyed in the end
@@danielpinto804 it's not impossible if he has collected a sample of Phazon before Samus even got to destroy Phaaze. If the time shift idea is present then it's even more possible.
We also don't know if the Galactic Federation has some sort of secret lab doing shady experiments with Phazon.
@@daftcruz Phazon in it's entirety vanished after Phaaze's destruction. The only way this can happen is, as you say, Sylux time travels.
Odd My personal theory is that he’s samus’s brother and the reason he’s against the federation is that he blames them for what happened to his family
Super is Metroid 3 and is set immediately after Metroid 2 Samus Returns which is set in 20x5. This is set in 20x9
Super Metroid is Metroid 3; Metroid 2 was Samus Returns
@PBJA89 Both games use the same "Cosmic Calendar" and we would they put attention to that unlike the previous three games

The Metroid Prime 4 announcement was the main reason I bought a switch. In 2017. I can’t believe it’s finally here, I lost hope years ago.
We were this close to them missing two console gens lmao
What if Sylux developed a method to control metroids, and brought that knowledge to the Space Pirates with the promise of sharing that method if they helped him hunt down Samus?
Outside of being MB related or involving Chozo genes, don’t know what it could be. No one or nothing aside from Chozo technology can realistically control them.
I just think putting a Metroid on a strict diet is going to get you eaten.
"Bondrewd? How did you out of the Abyss?"
Finally someone else who sees the physical resemblance between the two characters.
Glad I'm not the only one who made that connection
He needed some new kids to make lunchboxes.
Sylux has been teased for so long that Bondrewd was imagined, written into a manga, adapted into a big-production anime, and up and stole Sylux's look in the cultural imagination before Sylux could even be revealed in his own game lmao
The rumble of the scientific triumph helped him
I can’t believe they actually remembered to include details from Federation Force
Sylux: *angry stares at Samus*
Samus: *angry stares back*
Me: SYLUX ITS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN PAL :D
@@X24-SC21V That’s so absurd, which is why it *must* be true.

Nice to see sylux has a full head now. Hunters made it seem so tiny
I can't believe Samus has to fight Bondrewd now.
A gamer after my own heart. Every game should have a scan visor!
"Beyond" seems to imply going someplace outside time/space. This should be interesting.
But, All the Prime games takes place before Metroid 2, Why would Sylux hate them over something that hasn't happened?
In Prime 3 there's a log that says the Federation is helping the Luminoth restore Aether after the Ing War so maybe they will make an appearance
I would love to see the Luminoth again. Prime 2 is my favorite in the trilogy in terms of story and gameplay.
ok, FatBrett, my fav youtuber talking about my second fav metroid character, what a time
"Brinstar" wasn't the name of the planet in the first game. The planet was named "Zebes". Brinstar was one of several areas within Zebes.
Sylux gives me heavy lockdown from transformers vibes. A badass bounty hunter somehow able to stand toe to toe with the most powerful main character
Lockdown (TF: Animated version) actually unnerved the crap out of me as a kid,
“Hi, I’m a standardly edgy looking Decepticon, except no, I’m not.
Mochtroid? What's the difference between the metroids and them? Except one has three nucleus and other has two are they much powerful or weaker?
@anthonygarland8839 Mochtroids are failed experiments and are much weaker because of it. In Super Metroid they're sealed off in Maridia before Samus goes through there. They're also easier to shake off and have very different looking fangs along with the 1 nucleus. Tl;dr they're really weak
@@popnleck2838 so don't have any mutations/transformations like the metroids?
Clearly Sylux hasn’t been reading the space pirate memos. “Metroids are not pets. Metroids are not for target practice”
I used to have prime hunters, so seeing sylux again was a blast from the past.

I find it interesting that the two metroids were tethered to him
It's cool how this story seems to have been brewing for a long time.
I'm so hypeeeed for Metroid Prime 4
the game looks so beautiful
@I.T.P Not necessarily, as demonstrated in Dread the suit is sort of self repairing itself
It's probably copium, but I'd like to think this takes place after Dread. Would be cooler that way.
But yeah you're probably right, this game probably takes place not too long after Prime 3
@@peco595 yeah that’s fair.
@@I.T.P You know what, it definitely is after Prime 3, Samus has the P3 ship instead of the Fusion ship that was also seen in Dread
Case closed
Goddamn you work FAST
Didn’t expect this from Brett, but I was hyped that Sylux was actually showing up to pay off that ending with the Delano 7
If you look closely at the forest you can see Samus is behind a some type of Light which could be a teleporter or a space phenomenon known as wormhole
apparently its the same ship from MP3... so she get out from it upstairs? huh? better than her previous "entrance" from "down"
I lost it when I saw Sylux. It’s crazy to see a villain in Metroid Prime Hunters show up to be the big bad. I’m so excited to fight him once more.
I can pretty much garentee that Metroid Prime/ Dark Samus may end up pulling the strings at the end of the day as the true main antagonist.
They already said they're moving on from the Phazon storyline. It is really gone alongside Dark Samus
I'm just happy the game is definitely coming out, I knew it would eventually but by this point I was expecting it to be a Switch 2 launch title. You can do more Metroid discussions, more variety is good
2:48: are we sure those aren’t Mochtroids?
I think this the same research facility where Sylux hatched the Metroid egg from Federation Force.
My guess of why the Pirates are with Sylax is because quite literally they have no one left to join for the moment
Ridley is currently dead, So is Kraid, And so is Mother Brain
Brett, I think it's possible that the jungle planet and the barren planet are one and the same. Samus may have time-travelled back to when the planet was life-bearing, through the portal we see in the trailer.
It would be kinda cool if we got multiple worlds. Not saying it has to be in this game, but I think the concept would be kinda cool.
Port the multiplayer from Metroid hunters in as fun bonus.
Loved that game
Two videos in one week? You spoil us Brett!
Crack Theory:
The planet we see Samus fighting on, and the lush planet we see her in after, are the same planet, and it's Cyclosis.
IT’S SAMUEL HAYDEN!
Samus... Samuel... It's all starting to make sense now...
Sylux gonna get folded like Hayden at the end of this game
Now I want a Metroid and Doom crossover
@@Tortilla_Pizzeria_Pixels Fuck the father for saving him from the doomslayer.😡
"I poo poo farted for the good of humanity"- Sylux probably
Thank you for pointing out the foreshadowing of him! I haven’t seen anyone else bring this all up!
Still waiting for youre metroid prime 2 space pirates part 2 video a cant wait wait to see that one✌️
