Big Corvair guy here. Glad the carbs improved its running. It is really impressive that both sets of carbs worked as well as they have without pulling them apart. You are living right. And just an FYI you could order a Monxa with a 140hp 4 carb motor. The turbo 180hp motor was only available in the Corsa and the Spyder. Keep up the good work. 👍
Never get tired of seeing your Corvair. Working on my '62 Greenbrier Deluxe here in Cornwall, UK getting her ready for Run To The Sun 2025 in May. Great channel and wish you every success.
When I was a kid ,my dad had a 63 corvair spider and later traded it for a brand new 65 Corsa. When I was 17, I had a 64 Corvair 110 . Jc Whitney had a 4 barrel intake to replace the 4 carburetor and 2 carburetor set up with just a single four barrel carburetor. You could also get the rocker arm tube's that were spring loaded on one end to keep them from leaking. You could order a V8 conversation kit complete with headers to put a V8 in the back seat. Miss those day's.
I’m still blown away by how well this shop space came together. Both the shop side and the laser engraver side. I can’t wait for you to get a permanent space and see what you do with it.
I peaked when I owned a set of 3-piece Gotti's...and then fell to the bottom of the pile when I sold them -- worst decision ever. Those wheels make this patina go hard. Love it
Sick content🔥 I live here in Massachusetts on the Salem, New Hampshire borderline and this cold weather does suck lol. Great to see the chop top is running better👍
Hey John,,,,Are you a fan of the movie "Mr. Hollands Opus"??....There was a Corvair featured as his car..Then his son fixed it up for him...Thats where I discovered what a Corvair was!
These corvair videos are now not only entertainment but useful info since i just picked up a 65 monza 2dr with a 4 speed (watching the corvair videos totally wasnt the inspiration for me to buy one lol)
Corsas had both the 140 4-Carb engine and the optional 180 Turbo as well, the Spyder wasn’t the only Turbo model. Regardless, glad to see the Corvair getting some love. 😁
Stumbled onto your page today, automatically a fan! I love your style! Can’t wait to watch all of your old and new videos, keep up the amazing work! #wescoastin
It's basically mandatory you get a rebuild kit from Clark's Corvair or some other reputable vendor and a Unisyn to synchronize those carbs, or you'll never get it right. It's not that complicated to do. Corvairs run like sweethearts once you dial them in, but will run like absolute trash with even minor issues in ignition or carburation. Also, other than reseal and cleanup/paint on the engine, don't bother doing much else with it. It sounds like it'll be pretty healthy and run fine. It has some blowby, but they all do with some miles. Unless it's just gutless after some touchups, don't bother messing with it. Rebuilding one of these engines completely the right way is VERY expensive.
How hard is that belt to find? I just spent a week finding a belt for Edna. Stock Flathead belt is to short since I converted from a generator to an alternator
Be careful when swapping Corvair carburetors because they change from year to year! You'll want to ask Larry Claypool, one of several Corvair gurus about that. Also, it looks like you have quite a bit of blowby based on the smoke coming out of your crank case tube.

Thank you! And yea I couldn’t believe it!
Mate, the stance on this thing is mint, the chop takes it to another styling level and that patina…….. So good. Credit to you.
Thanks man!

Synce the carbs to match each other with air flow and throttle movement. That is allot of blow by but it runs!

I really appreciate that, man! Thank you!
68 years old and I love Corvair and Beatles cheers
Thanks for the video. FYI, Corsa’s also came with a 180hp turbo charged engine. The 4 carb 140 hp engine was the Corsa base model engine
Always a fan of more CORVAIR content!! I’m glad the parts from the bad motor help the chop-top run better!! Stay warm!
A permanently installed exhaust vent through the garage wall would be a nice little shop upgrade.

Have you though about buying or making an exhaust fume extractor so you can run the cars in the shop if the weather outside gets really miserable?
I LIKE THAT CAR ALOT!!!
I think old boy would love a factory rebuild/modernizing just to make keeping it going easier

FYI, you left the wingnut for the airbox on the rear deck of the white car. Just in case you want to keep that.
Clean...!!!!
You make me want to spend money on an old rust bucket every video you post lol
😂 it’s a serious problem
Stone filters? Sintered brass metal filters.

He was able to get them in the straight line but they were not able get them in the corners.
Your bagged car needs a set of coilovers. Bagged cars just look like the suspension has collapsed.
What a crazy statement about a car that isn’t yours

What a crazy post about a statement that means nothing to anyone.

Except you it seems.

Scrap it
Es heisst übrigens "top chop " und nicht umgekehrt .
