I’m an SLPA working primarily with kids on the Autism spectrum and I like to watch videos like yours when I’m having trouble with new clients. Sometimes it’s as simple as finding a new way to use toys I already have. Love your ideas!

She knows 88 asl words, she LOVES the wedge hog toy you showed us!!! Your tips and tricks with tantrums are great! We don’t watch the show!!!! THANK YOU!

Thank you for this. Our speech therapist came in and said get rid of your toys and buy new ones. I was completely overwhelmed and have been considering cancelling therapy because I can't afford to dump and start over.

Sorry to hear! At the end of the day...it's not the toys that teach a child to talk so don't stress too much about that.

Would someone be able to get an evaluation for speech and behavior without a referral?
My daughter is very smart at 18 months old.
Yet I have been trying to get her to start talking for months, we noticed she would say words out of the blue , but then wouldn't speak or repeat the words she has said, it could be weeks to months before saying something else.
I've got stacking blocks to puzzle boards and flash cards. We have been doing this since 12 months and haven't had much progress. I have a list of when she has spoken and its random.
Her doctor isnt concerned because she is very smart with receptive language, but things still seem off even with some of her behaviors and speach we've noticed over the past year.
Could I possibly get an evaluation without a referral?

Hi Jenna, that depends on your insurance, many do require a referral. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide on exactly what to do to begin helping her speak then look into my online course for parents called "How to Teach a Toddler to Talk." school.walkietalkiespeechtherapy.com/
