Kind of doubt we will ever get a game with every single monster in the game in it. It would be a massive project to animate 4000+ monsters. Maybe we'll get it with a restrictive card pool
Start by just uploading the cards themselves, 10K cards is hard, but not impossible considering it's just 11 or so different card colors with mix and match layouts. Then move onto animating popular boss monsters to enhance bigger plays, then slowly work in the regular monsters via usage rate, holding popularity polls and mass polls to see what monsters should be prioritized as time goes on (which would also help keep engagement up, as it would literally be in every players best interests to do so). Allow for donations/In game purchases for things like different UI, custom sleeves, sound effects from different eras of the game, ect, giving weighted input to the donors/paying players votes, and the game would likely fund itself for a long time to come.
It might also be too restrictive to just do the normal card game to if they have to restrict the card pool. Making it an RPG like we saw in the anime where Kaiba was making a new game and went into the virtual world and getting trapped there so Mokuba calls Yugi and Joey to help and they get special armor and stuff. Have it be sort of like Pokemon or the 4th season of the original anime where you summon a monster to fight battles for you. It would let the card pool be small but make it feel fresh by using the monsters they put in different ways. Summon Sagi The Dark Clown as a knife wielding clown that deals small but continuous damage and act as a dodge tank for your heavier hitter summons. It would also be less crazy to try and put in every Yugioh card effect and not have to worry about the monster pool if they just make the old ones really fun to summon already.
Haptic feedback suits with this would be a dream! Feel the duel and the monsters attacks! The closest we could be to duel monsters! I’d never wanna leave!
It’s what I’ve wanted since the beginning. The most similar experience to the TV show, and can play with friends anywhere. I would buy the headset outright just to play this game.
Konami could done VR yugioh. Sony proved it when they had a actual vr card game for the playstation 3. Konami took 0 investment in making it any time. Literally make special glasses and create a the duel field generator in a way that can register one's deck and use special glove to play it. Doubt it will be cheap but it is possible over time work it to affordability.
you're right. they could but with the tech at the time, it would be a fancy duel generations. and even if that would fine for some, it wouldn't work out in the long run since VR back then was more expensive and more limited than now .
Hell, you already have the AR apps and special headsets to put your phone over your eyes or just Google Glass and the like. Even a special arcade place to go to would make sense for Japan. Even if we can't get true VR anytime soon we can have alternatives that exist. Going the Zexal route would probably be the more realistic take though we had stuff like Zone of the Enders 2 VR mode and all those mecha VR games that are actually fun because the point is put you into the pilot seat and fighting like that or flying.
Hell, remember the filler arc where Kaiba made an RPG virtual reality game where Yugioh and Joey and finding Mai along the way to helo save Kaiba? With the game having different rules of summoning and buying cards like that big chicken to ride through the desert and seeing Kaiba made a girl version of Mokuba that actually was Mystic Elf. Also that giant flying machine Joey used Time Wizard to bring it back. A crazy game like that would be super fun along with this VR stuff. Or even as a normal game.
Also: I JUST NEED MY DARK MAGICIAN GIRL CHEERING ME ON AND BEING ABLE TO LOOK AT HER BUTT WHEN SHE'S ON THE FIELD! Actually yeah though. Having the cute little Deck Master pets we have in Master Duel. Kuriboh on your shoulder or Ash. Big ass Blue Eyes or Borral Load ready to fire off. It be way too easy to make reasons why people would want the VR headset to go along with it and also changes up the game your playing. Have it be a turn based RPG where your summoning monsters to fight and boost them with your Deck Master companion or other things while giving them orders and keeping yourself safe. Have the card game mode be a separate game people could also buy and play. They don't just need to be stuck on the normal Yugioh card game, just have the IP be the base, the card games the main focus but have other games or media for people to buy to prop up the main thing. It's insane how long they spent not doing this stuff with their most popular IP man.
@@RavenCloak13 I was thinking of that too. But I discarded my comment from my lack of confidence. Creating a new game with different rules than the OG Yugioh card game, could help trim-down the number of cards they'd need to make 3D models and programming animations/simulated sentience for.
as long as they don't abandon it like they did all the other games. Then It'll be good. They finally learned with Duel Links and Master Duels, they better not abandon the VR one.

@@slasherdasher8276 didn't know about that, but i knew about DMVR (a free VR program that does *a lot* of the yugioh card base as well as functional duel disks and stuff, but *technically* stands for "deck manager VR" and is planned to expand into other card games like pokemon as well)
I see this being slow to start in terms of content given the sheer volume of cards and connected animations and models if and when it releases. I pray this does get a release because that is such a dream come true for the community.
Eh it doesnt matter they already have a set of base models from their prior games and animations. So just add some aechetypes to them and slowly release the rest with expansions you know like master duel and duel links. We dont need all the archetypes from the get go just a quarter of the cards is enough to get the game started. In fact make it follow the anime timee line. Let us play classic with minimal to no extra deck for a year, then add fusion heavy archetypes then synchro then xyz then pendulum and link for the last. I bet a lot of people would be happy with such an arrangement.
I want to see dark Necrofear and a giant ouija board floating over me while having ghosts stoping my opponents attack via dark sanctuary. Horror themed decks are going to look freaking cool
Not just horror decks either! Imagine playing a sea themed deck and playing an ocean field, or an Elemental Heroes deck and having a city rise around you when Skyscraper comes out. Pretty much all deck themes could get a chance to shine if implemented well!
I like how with this VR, it's not just a recreation of the card game in VR, there's allot more going for it. For example, Dark Magician Girl looks really annoyed at Seto Kaiba for some reason in the reveal. With facial expressions reflecting how she feels. Just like small bits of the duels in the anime, where the cards seem to have sentience as living beings, despite their bodies in duels, being projected from the cards played, via Kaiba Corp's technology after Kaiba "wrestled" Kaiba Corp out of his adoptive father's control. Which is why the "Big Five" (or whatever they're called) had a serious grudge against Seto Kaiba and did evil stuff as a result. Honestly, I don't care about VR (hence why I never downloaded VR Chat despite it being free), but this looks like something I'd be interested in. Also, as a side note, in that reveal of this VR game, they summoned Dark Magician Girl without a tribute. She's a level 6 Monster card, which tend to require 1 tribute to be summoned. Something's going on Konami isn't telling us.
It's smart to start with Duel Links since the gameplay is a lot more simple than the main game, and once they get that situated and figure out how many people are interested, they can evolve things by integrating Master Duel into the same system.
Imagine a yu gi oh gx game like the game boy one, where you live as a student in the academy in vr, it would be crazy. Or a vr remake of the sacred cards
Konami have missed a big opportunity since the first season of Dm for a game. One Legend of Zelda style with the lore of the monsters, like when Yugi, Joey and Mokuba enter Kaiba virtual world game Just imagine, you are part of a world where the monsters are real, and you start an epic adventure to collect cards and stop villains. Maybe at some point you arrive to the mausoleum of white, where all the Blue-eyes human monsters are NPCs, you accomplish a mission and the reward is a Blue-eyes white dragon card and stuff like that
I always did adore that arc, even if it was technically filler. To me, it’s always a treat when the cards get to be living, breathing beings, and spells and locations gain a clearer form. It really makes you “bond” more to the cards. It’s like….they aren’t just cool drawings anymore. It’s a chance for scenarios like “this isn’t just another warrior monster, it’s the warrior monster who saved you earlier when you were cornered” or “this is the small monster who has been your traveling partner”. Or even more mundane things like “these are the monsters who inhabit my hub village” or “this is the healer who patches my party up after a rough patch”.
@@slosh7072If I recall correctly, Solid Vision is the name of the technology Kaiba made to project holograms of cards without the need of the giant arena Pegasus had for dueling in the Duelist Kingdom arc of the anime. The holograms were real enough in the anime that duelists felt the brunt of a direct attack to an opposing duelist. I forget the name of the monster card, but in the Battle City arc of the anime, I remember Joey getting a direct attack by some monster who has a giant syringe, and he seemed to feel pain being hit from that needle
I still remember the fuss where a guy succeed to make holographic AR of yugioh board game and then Konami shut down his project. Try searching that story.
If this goes well, I could see Konami releasing their own version that only runs this software as a budget option instead of the Quest 3. And if they’re doing that, might as well make it look like a Duel Gazer
With the apple vision pro, imagine sitting on your own desk, and you just change the environment to a yugioh battle arena like at 3:36, and have clear control over the battle. THE TECH IS ALREADY THERE, NOW JUST MAKE IT PUBLIC AND AFFORDABLE!
Just thought to search this topic as Ive bought the new PSVR2 PC adapter. Honestly I dont know why a VR YuGiOh hasnt been done before now. VR game tech has been around for a little bit now, and good enough for essentially what we see in the anime. I dont pllay anymore, just because I dont like the duel link/master duel aesthetic, but also I dont understand the new card types, I get murdered in one big play lol Anyway, I think they should just keep it simple and go through the anime saga, start at Duelist Kingdom and so on. Also, just set out the aesthetic exactly like the anime. It would be cool once we got to Kaibas Battle City tournament to have our cards appear in front of us, and then eventually like you said, the 5Ds genre. I also think, once the long story campaigns done, you unlock actual competitive mode, but also have the choice to just play in whatever “story mode” style you want. They should also just remake all the previous off shoot games like Forbidden Memories, and Battle of Roses, just to suit VR mode. Anyway, I think its a lost opportunity, just imagine real tournaments actually being played in VR too, aaaanyways

When the Google glasses were announced over a decade ago I thought that would be the perfect device for Augmented Reality (AR) Yugioh. Still think AR would be the easiest to develop for a real world simulator but this is nice too. Very overdue. Hopefully our card pool from Master Duel will transfer so we don't need to pay twice
Assuring is done well, i can see this being the yugioh equivalent of pokemon go upon release. Both have the potential to bring fans back and keep current fans from leaving, at least as soon. I told my family about this, and, though i am the main yugioh fanboy of the fam, we all agree with the pokemon analogy and would love to play it. My sister even said how, as a kid during the dm early gx days, how she kinda wished they had something like in the anime and i could not agree more.
@@marcomagana8329The fusing between monster with duelist, are you referencing the conclusion of the dub of GX, where Super Polymerization was used to fuse Jaden with Yubel? Speaking of that conclusion of the dub, that's not where the actual story ended. 4Kids refused to dub the next season after that. Without that undubbed season, it's implied Jaden died with Yubel after that, when in truth, the rest of the GX anime was not dubbed. Because 4Kids were cowards to go in further with dubbing the season out of fear of people's fury for Jaden and Yubel's relationship, even though they rewrote Yubel as fully female
Ngl, a story mode about working as a Kaiba Corp employee to test the technology would probably fun. I can already picture Seto begrudgingly admitting you’re better than Joey Wheeler at most.
4:20 Nah bro, I’m talking IRL AR Tournaments in stadiums where each duelist and every fan watching from the stands or at home will *see* the monsters manifest and destroy each other with highly specific animation interactions seemingly physically enough to be convincing. Literally what we imagined our dads invented for us on the playground in kindergarten.
I still remember the Yugioh anime's plot armor of "Heart of the Cards". Even the developers of the game One Step From Eden are familiar with Yugioh. There's an artifact in that game called "Heart of the Cards", that heals you based on the number of cards in your deck. Heart of the Cards is such an unusual power, that in the GX manga, one of the characters in it comments on Jaden's special power to always draw the card he needs from the deck when he needs it most in a duel.
I just hope that they stick to a design philosophy, and don't make it look ugly because there is so much good design philosophy in the animes and manga. I want it to be identical to those, and customizable to those specifically, because that style is the game I want to play. The game in VR exactly how it would feel playing in the anime or manga.
Can't wait to play Bakura's cards. Imagine Dark Necrofear being played while Dark Sanctuary is on the field. Truly a beautiful sight I wish to experience.
VR Stonks going It does depend on how much investment they'll actually put into the game though. If they can make slow but gradual improvement it might actually be interesting enough to pull more people.
Honestly, I’m completely in on one condition: there’s gotta be a mode where it just shows the HUD and monsters, not the game world. So it’s just me and a buddy in one of our backyards, looking at the giant monsters looming over us as they battle. If it doesn’t have that, well I’ll still be all in on this, just a bit disappointed
Because, this is what long-time Yugioh fans have been wanting since the start of the anime in general, for several years now. They just have to create that Yugioh anime experience, while at the same time, not making it a huge amount of money to play it. Even me, who doesn't like VR, want to play this
The one thing that could make this perfect for me is the ability to Tag Duel with yourself, so I could finally make my “Red-Eyes Black Magician Girl” deck usable. Since it features Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight, riding on the shoulder of Tyrant Burst Dragon, and wielding Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword… …With how much Red-Eyes love the Graveyard, she would become _extremely_ powerful. The Graveyard is full of Dragons… And soon, it will be full of the opponent’s Monsters, too.

VR, AR, or holographic projection it's about time to duel for real. We been needed somethin like this we have the technology
Kind of doubt we will ever get a game with every single monster in the game in it. It would be a massive project to animate 4000+ monsters. Maybe we'll get it with a restrictive card pool
Heck, can even just do some basic DM era stuff for a bit to keep it simple.
That with constant updates with still be good enough for me. Just follow the series in order.
We dont need every single monster at launch. This is most interestikg for the OG Fans anyway I believe.
Imma say it: that Dark Magician Girl cosplay is nice! 🔥🔥🔥
Can't wait to fusion summon magician king using witch of the black forest and lady of faith.
Haptic feedback suits with this would be a dream! Feel the duel and the monsters attacks! The closest we could be to duel monsters! I’d never wanna leave!
We getting yugioh VR before GTA 6 💀 🔥
It’s what I’ve wanted since the beginning. The most similar experience to the TV show, and can play with friends anywhere. I would buy the headset outright just to play this game.
I don't even like VR and I'm wanting this
Her ability to show concern for her player/owner was always my favorite part of Dark Magician Girl.
Omg I'm getting goosebumps when I imagine seeing El Shaddoll Construct to come to life. Holy moly.. please go all in for this, Konami.
The whole dome event did something i never thought it would do, made me excited for the future of yugioh.
Kaiba finally managing to make monsters in VR interact with you has to be only done so he could ride a Blue Eyes of his own.
So just Yu-Gi-Oh zexal
AR with glasses does the trick already. With modern AR frameworks, even easier.
Also, this reminds me of The Falsebound Kingdom. Where Yugi, Kaiba, and the cast are trapped in another virtual game that's a real-time rpg.
@@Mysticgamer
That was the name!
@@Mysticgamer I still have that game
@@RavenCloak13 I was thinking of that too. But I discarded my comment from my lack of confidence. Creating a new game with different rules than the OG Yugioh card game, could help trim-down the number of cards they'd need to make 3D models and programming animations/simulated sentience for.
as long as they don't abandon it like they did all the other games. Then It'll be good. They finally learned with Duel Links and Master Duels, they better not abandon the VR one.

I see this being slow to start in terms of content given the sheer volume of cards and connected animations and models if and when it releases.
I pray this does get a release because that is such a dream come true for the community.
If you were not aware. Most monsters already 3dmodelsthat are used in cross duel, duel links and the anime.

Finally a good reason for me to watch tournaments. Imagine if the players do the dialogues when they activate their card effects 😂
Hope we can reach the point of Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal. That would be amazing.
It's smart to start with Duel Links since the gameplay is a lot more simple than the main game, and once they get that situated and figure out how many people are interested, they can evolve things by integrating Master Duel into the same system.
I would totally go all in for this
Imagine a yu gi oh gx game like the game boy one, where you live as a student in the academy in vr, it would be crazy. Or a vr remake of the sacred cards
I mean KC also could be konami corp.

Awesome news!!! I love Yu-Gi-Oh. This sounds like an amazing step forward for the franchise. Can't wait to see where this goes in the future!
Konami have missed a big opportunity since the first season of Dm for a game. One Legend of Zelda style with the lore of the monsters, like when Yugi, Joey and Mokuba enter Kaiba virtual world game
Just imagine, you are part of a world where the monsters are real, and you start an epic adventure to collect cards and stop villains.
Granted, we have a long way to go for to achieve actual real world Solid Vision software, but this is a start.
Yo, imagine the shadow games mode were you can bet your soul
The should call in Link Vrains like in the anime.
Solid Vision is also in the anime though
@@slosh7072If I recall correctly, Solid Vision is the name of the technology Kaiba made to project holograms of cards without the need of the giant arena Pegasus had for dueling in the Duelist Kingdom arc of the anime. The holograms were real enough in the anime that duelists felt the brunt of a direct attack to an opposing duelist. I forget the name of the monster card, but in the Battle City arc of the anime, I remember Joey getting a direct attack by some monster who has a giant syringe, and he seemed to feel pain being hit from that needle
Now if only we could make this work for duel disks or actual holograms. Close, yet so far.
Too bad “holograms” aren’t really a feasible technology. At least the kind that would be needed for dueling.

With the apple vision pro, imagine sitting on your own desk, and you just change the environment to a yugioh battle arena like at 3:36, and have clear control over the battle. THE TECH IS ALREADY THERE, NOW JUST MAKE IT PUBLIC AND AFFORDABLE!
omg the possibilities are endless 🤯🤯🤯 in 5 years we will all be spending half of our time in a ygo metaverse 🤩
Just thought to search this topic as Ive bought the new PSVR2 PC adapter. Honestly I dont know why a VR YuGiOh hasnt been done before now. VR game tech has been around for a little bit now, and good enough for essentially what we see in the anime. I dont pllay anymore, just because I dont like the duel link/master duel aesthetic, but also I dont understand the new card types, I get murdered in one big play lol
Anyway, I think they should just keep it simple and go through the anime saga, start at Duelist Kingdom and so on.

Assuring is done well, i can see this being the yugioh equivalent of pokemon go upon release. Both have the potential to bring fans back and keep current fans from leaving, at least as soon.
