The explanation for Victreebel is that, When viewed under UV light, pitcher plants glow (usually blue but sometimes green) to mimic flowers which also glow under UV to attract and guide pollinators to the nectar and more importantly pollen. However, instead of nectar and pollen, all insects get is being digested when they fall into the pitcher. I wasn't a fan of Victreebel's shiny until I learned that.
Actually . . . in a sense. In R/B/G/Y, shiny Pokémon don't really exist, but when transferred to G/S/C, any Pokémon with Determinant Values (or DVs) within a few specific parameters will turn shiny upon arriving. I think the Doduo line is also partially inspired by the bird called the kiwi and Kiwi fruit are brown on the outside and green on the inside so... maybe? I love shiny Grimer and Muk, reminds me of the Slimy Little Piles and Master Belch from EarthBound
I like how Lockston calls the color a yellow when in reality people consider Shiny Charmander, Charmeleon, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Fearow, and Spearow to be the color of gold.
Description: "Why is whiny mew blue?" Probably because it knows Captivate and will always fail cause it's gender-less so it whines to their Ditto friend on why it can't charm anyone.
A good correlation you can make about Nidoqueen is that since it's a mother who takes care of her young, her body can somewhat camouflage with grasslands. With he body being able to camouflage, she can cover her young while keeping them close. Of course it doesn't make much sense since regular Nidoqueen doesn't match their surroundings, but you could make a debate that the regular Nidoqueen cover her young regardless and their color signifies she is poisonous, which scare predators, and Shiny Nidoqueen camouflages, which predators ignore
I love how self aware this channel has become and how straightforward Lockstin is about it. "This video is complete BS" Or in some of the videos just before SwSh: "This video is basically just filler and we have no idea why we decided to do this, but HEY, YOU'RE WATCHING IT SO WE'LL KEEP DOING IT!"

Gnoggin "Ekans also gets this green pea color"
Me "dude you pee green!?!?!?"
Iirc the shiny gyarados was due to team rocket evolving magikarp unnaturally, and it kept its color. Idk if this was in gold/silver but it was in hgss
Gen 2 was my first experience with pokemon and yes it was all the way back then that red gyardos was in my team. I was like 6 so I didn't understand what a shiny was till my sister showed me her shiny tangala it became my quest to catch a wild shiny. I finally got one...a rattata
Ralco Gaming at least you got one, and that’s all that matters.
@@shardtheduraludon well I also have a shiny zygarde from one of the giveaways, but since I didn't catch it I dont count it.
Ralco Gaming Yeah, I can see your point, at least we earned the shiny Zeraora that Nintendo is gonna give out.
@@shardtheduraludon no kidding. It was kinda dumb how we couldn't just catch him.
I love how this channel is slowly becoming less and less child friendly. Take another deep sipp.
Shiny Ninetales may be a reference to Nine-Tails kitsune’s in myth turn silver when they turn immortal.... i think
Correction: a Kitsune will turn silver, white, or gold once they grow their 9th tail~
_A Kitsune is always immortal with supernatural powers or it'd just be a fox with multiple tails!~_
@@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions Clarification: which is when they turn 1000 years old.
Interesting how he glossed over Red Gyarados’s connection to normal Magikarp.
Espeon’s Shiny pokemon is pretty cool now :0
No it’s not
It looks pretty cool to me :/
I like it
I wish the shiny was a lighter blue
*cries in liking shiny espeon*
in game it´s mentioned by Lance, that Team Rockets Radio Waves forces the Magikarp to evolve, and that becomes the more angry Gyarados still being the color of Magikarp
"BUT THEY ALSO EAT CHILDREN AND THAT'S WHY HIS BEAK IS STAINED THAT WAY!" … XD
The truth may be worse than the folklore, killed by their families due to starvation, or so I've heard.
And hands.

The Dating Sim
Ahdjaohrudnx
That momento when you didn't mentioned the fact that Ninetales inspiration (The kitsune) is often represented as a grey silver fox
And that it was exclusive for pokemon SILVER.
ITS A REALLY COOL SHINY.
And arcanine too, he's gold like the game he's exclusive from and the statues he's based from are gold.
Omega Force Zero that I exactly what I said
Shiny magikarp even failing at being shiny by turning into the color of it's common real life counterpart
I feel like I'm the only person who really likes shiny Espeon; it isn't even close to the color I associate with "puke", it's a vibrant neon green that I really like - I vastly prefer lighter greens like lime or neon to darker ones; I also really like shiny Vaporeon
i think its nice
8:00 “Oddish, Gloom, and Vileplume*”
WTF, how does one confuse Vileplume for Parasect!? 😂😂😂
@@cintronproductions9430 guess they both have big red umbrellas on top
it just cycled to the next name in the algorithm...
Can you do a review of the Dreepy line yet? And why it didn't become a "normal" fossil Pokemon?
It defied extinction by becoming a ghost, I guess.
Makes me think of the Princess Bride. The species became "Mostly Dead" not all the way dead. xD
Dreepy hates normality, so it decided to be a not fossil and be a ghost.
Me : I want a shiny >:(
Mom: we have shinies at home
Shinies at home (in gen 1) : *GREEN AND MAGENTA*
either that or such a small change you can't even tell
So this is the first video of yours I’ve seen and I enjoyed the limited use of jump cuts. It lets the video (and you) breathe, instead of cutting after every sentence. And it also makes it seem like you actually planned out what you were going to say before you filmed it.
Me: Can you even get shinies in Gen 1?
Lockstin: Well yes, but actually no.
Actually . . . in a sense. In R/B/G/Y, shiny Pokémon don't really exist, but when transferred to G/S/C, any Pokémon with Determinant Values (or DVs) within a few specific parameters will turn shiny upon arriving. Same with R/B/Y in the eShop transferring to Sun/Moon, but the calculations change slightly.
Creating wild theories out of things that have reasonable explanations. Isn't that Mat Pat's thing.
The amount of shade that the word dexit makes me laugh all the time
For Rapidash, you missed the opportunity to call the "ghost horse" a nightmare
7:57
Ah yes, the classic oddish line.
Oddish.
Gloom.
And my favorite...
PARASECT.
9:14 Missed opportunity to put Sasha into the spotlight again.
You forgot to mention that Machoke's eyes and the arm stripes change from red to blue.
I think the Doduo line is also partially inspired by the bird called the kiwi and Kiwi fruit are brown on the outside and green on the inside so... maybe?
I love shiny Grimer and Muk, reminds me of the Slimy Little Piles and Master Belch from EarthBound
I think they are more inspired by moa
13:37 Gastly’s name being misspelled makes me remember Rick Ghastly
I like how Lockston calls the color a yellow when in reality people consider Shiny Charmander, Charmeleon, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Fearow, and Spearow to be the color of gold.
Description: "Why is whiny mew blue?"
Probably because it knows Captivate and will always fail cause it's gender-less so it whines to their Ditto friend on why it can't charm anyone.
Whiny mew is blue because blue is the color of sad and IT WANTS PEOPLE TO KNOW.
WHINY MEW
Gen 1 shinies be like: "YO YOU LIKE GREEN??"
18:14 Omg I love you so much right now for this specifically. Thank you
"This is my life now."

Seems legit to me.

The ditto-mew theory had actually been largely confirmed in Detective Pikachu the movie
U sure? In the movie they only casually mention Mew in conversation once and what they say about Ditto is that she was one of Howard's experiments.
Not really. The same trappings are there in the film that are in the games, but neither have made any definitive statements.
I love how self aware this channel has become and how straightforward Lockstin is about it. "This video is complete BS"
Or in some of the videos just before SwSh: "This video is basically just filler and we have no idea why we decided to do this, but HEY, YOU'RE WATCHING IT SO WE'LL KEEP DOING IT!"
15:14
So you’re saying it’s a khangas - *tan* ?
I’m a genius, you all have no appreciation of wordplay.
Janmesh Srivastava praise the Almighty one
Omg I lost it when he said, " I'm stupid" that was the most honesty you ever see in people 😆😆😆.
8:00 Ah, yes! Remember back in Gen 1 when Gloom evolved into Parasect? Good times
19:02 Damn, I wasn’t ready for that
Edit: This timestamp is extremely spammable, click it repeatedly for funnies
MUST HAVE SPARKLES!!!
If i remember correctly, Shiny Gyarados is red because the free one in G/S/C/HG/SS is a Magikarp that evolved early due to the Lake of Rage.
Hence it kept the red coloration.
Red is also the default sprite color for pokemon in GSC in the menus. Put that sprite in the world: Red Gyarados
Really impressed how smoothly you managed to ignore that Cloyster is just a blue waffle.
Shiny Chansey could reference Pokémon eggs who are white with green spots
I actually love Espeons shiny, it looks like an alien.
Lockstin, please!!! for the last time marine reptiles and flying reptiles *are not dinosaurs* is important that people know this!
Also Lycanroc was made to look like the color of the sky! Midday is a light blue and Midnight is a deep dark blue! am I crazy for thinking this?
Green Shinies can look great in certain cases!
But then you have 90% of other green Shinies that just look... eugh, and it makes me sad.
I mean, Shiny Espeon is a green alien thing! That’s great! And Kabuto being green fits, too!
Shiny scyther is good
I had a PINK Rhyhorn in Gold or Silver, can't remember which, and always thought it was a reference to the anime :P
It was explained in the anime episode that gyrasdos turned red due to it being a forces evolution of normal non shiny magicarp hence the same red.

Super Effective
Great video as usual, though there needs to be one for the shiny mega forms too, a significant omission being the much cooler shiny Mega Gengar.
But the shiny Mega Evolution forms were intentionally designed, since that didn't exist before gen 6 when everything switched to 3D models.
DetectiveBarricade that is true but the same can be said for the Alolan forms also mentioned in this video.
Most Megas don’t drastically change colour except for a few and when they do it’s intentional like Charizard or Gengar.
I don’t think there’s enough content on Kanto Megas to do a whole video on too. Unless there’s gonna be a round up of all Megas in a future video.
"Silver Foxes are a thing."
Me: UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
My first playthrough of gold and silver I did not encounter one shiny Pokemon outside of the Red Gyarados.
I didn't know Shinies were a thing until years later 😂
I Thought Farfetch’d Was Cute in It’s Nonshiny Form,But Now That I’ve Seen It’s Shiny Form,I Deem it Super Cute
