Would a old slow fan affect the functionality of air conditioning within the car? After 5min of cool air, it turns to warm?

It will definitely affect the air conditioning and will not work well in the cold air conditioning

This is not the way for all discoveries, the The Discovery 3 is a left hanmded thread, so you turn clocklwise not anti clockwaise as you say

This is NOT the right way to take the fan off ! These clowns will have you breaking your fan blades if you do it this way. There is a tool that cost 20 dollars or you can borrow one for free from Auto Zone, then watch the video from Atlantic British.
