If I had been running my A/C, my temps would have been around 194-198 in this same scenario. That is really good for my ambient temp. But, my quick disconnect sway bar bolt rubbed against my A/C line (the one on the FL side, low) and it eventually created a hole, causing the A/C to fail over time. I didn't notice this until right before the video. Good thing I have a spare truck (and a spare A/C line).
I have the same setup and my d2 is regeared on 35s with metal bumpers, armor, and winch. Under 60 mph my temps are in the 183-188 deg range. On the freeway at 75-80 mph I’m seeing 195-198 deg.
I want to try the quick disconnect front links. So far I haven't even disconnected my front at all but my rear was making lots of creaking so I completely removed the links and the bar and I go down the highway every day on HD Springs 2 inch lift and it handles great. I mean I can turn Corners in town just fine I think maybe the rear is less crucial than the front because the rear doesn't have the weight of the engine I don't know but all the guys on the Facebook disco 2 group trip out about stuff like that but I think it's just fine.
You just open the cap on the reservoir and rev the engine to 2500 rpm for a few seconds. Seems to work fine. I've had no problems with air in the system.
what I see is that the gm fan wings are incorrect to flow the hot air from the radiator to the engine side to reduce the temperature check this point and if you want better results use the range rover p38 4.6 engine 99 to 2002 radiator fan and clutch 👌
My truck came with this mod. Had headgaskets done and car still overheated. Replaced water pump and radiator (which needed it any way). Finally added a 180 deg thermostat. Still ran hot. Turns out my expansion tank return nozzle was blocked. Replaced with a new one and have been running 189 - 195 degrees under most conditions with AC. Like the aluminum expansion tank! 😉👍
@@fitzventure Thank you! Just bought it. Could I also ask you what coolant you used to flush the system? I'm replacing a bunch of stuff for the cooling system and would like to start consistently using a recommended coolant. I just cant find good info.
Hey man looks like you're in Arizona also is that right? Anyway I love the color and I also have that exact inline thermostat and you're right it's amazing. I'm over here in Tucson and initially I put in the 170 degree element and it was great in the summer but now that it's a little cooler I had to go to the 180 because I was throwing a code for low temperature LOL made the fuel mileage way worse now I have it up in the 180s. So how did you do that body I totally love that color. Is that bed liner? I've been considering doing mine exactly like yours or with dark gray two-toned with black diamond plate
Nice. You're almost local. I'm in Scottsdale. That thermostat mod is wonderful. I love it. Yeah, my Disco is bedlined using Raptor Liner. It's holding up really well after 2 years of abuse. I should make a video about that.
@@fitzventure yeah definitely I'd be interested in seeing how easy it is to put one on. I definitely scratch the crap out of mine often on all these bushes and twigs we have around here

New to Disco 2's. Super informative and will be put to use as Texas heat is real. Thanks for sharing.

I love your videos! Does the temp go up if you turn the ac on?
Good video. Just picked up a D2 myself. Whats the electronic monitor you have give you engine temps etc? Where can I get one?
It's an Ultraguage and is absolutely necessary. See my other videos about the cooling system.
Yeah my coolant tank cracked and I found an OEM replacement on Amazon for $35 it was crazy and it's been very good LOL

Good info and video man!!
Thanks
how would you bleed the system with this mod done? because the bleeder screw is gone

The clutch and fan combo dropped the temp by about 5 degrees combined. It's working pretty well.
What year blazer is the fan and clutch out of?what is the difference of that and the oem? Thanks 👍🏻
I'm not sure what year it was. I think posted the part number in the description. It seems to draw more air at idle.
Thanks 👍🏻

Wow, that's crazy. Who knew that little hose was so important?
What were your temps when it was blocked? I’m curious if mine is the same.
@@texasoff-roadmilitia425 Not sure what you mean by blocked. But my temps now, in 75-65 degree weather is 179-183 most of the time.
I really like the small rack. Any way of sending me where you got it?
It's was a limited run from like 15 years ago. I ended up selling it.
@@fitzventure Thank you for the reply. It would have worked out perfect for me. Excellent videos by the way! 👍
Where’d you get the 20psi cap? Just received the cars4x4 expansion tank. They shipped 2 16psi caps..
I bought it at Autozone. I asked the guys at Carrs 4X4 what it was and I think they gave me part number.
How did you seal those paper gaskets? The instructions say to put silicone on both sides but in the picture it only shows it on one side of the paper
Do not apply any silicone to any kind of gasket unless it's going over a seam.
Greetings from Australia. Don what temp thermostat do you run in your inline thermostat?
I run a 180 degree (F). Seems to work well.
How to make sure my Colling working now
did you consider to put a aluminium radiator with more capacity?
Yes, but I don't know of one that's more than 3 cores. If you know of one, I'd love to hear about it.
Hey do you know what mount that is for the Ultragauge?
It's the one they sell.

@@Sam-xt5gb I still use the factory type of coolant. I believe it's the same as Dextron.
Which of these mods was the hardest to do and why? I really like how you present info in your videos. Please keep them coming.
None of them are particularly difficult. The only one that has been an issue is the new water pump is leaking because my gasket didn’t seat right.
