Good job Simon. The road salt sure buggers up the brake components. It’s a pity JLR don’t have a snow-country brake kit that uses materials to ward off the effects of the salt. Knowing that they don’t though means owners must be more proactive with maintenance. It’s no wonder the handbrake squealed. It was crying out for help. Lol. 👍🏻🙏🏽😷🦘
Hehe, I'm just glad my EPB-module is still working. The salt really takes it's toll on the components. Not sure what is the best way to handle it as you can't oil up everything. But at least I now know I got 7 years more with the calipers and 2-3 years of discs and pads. I will try and service the Hand Brake shoes every spring after the salt period is over. The electronic parking brake is one of the worst inventions on any modern car. There was nothing wrong with the handle based system which worked well with minimum maintenance for many years!
I totally agree, I wish it was a manual system. That being said, if I just had serviced the hand brake components it wouldn't have failed. But another good reason for me selling the Defender, getting on top of service points like these. 👍🙂
